Vault by Vans x Benjamin Edgar – Collection (11.4.22)

qRObllD4

info via Hypebeast:

“Adding to Vault By Vans’ expansive list of collaborators, Chicago-based object designer Benjamin Edgar has teamed up with the brand for the first time. The project follows previous works from Edgar including unique items, both practical and impractical, and apparel. With Vans, the Half Cab Decon VLT LX and Authentic One-Piece NL VLT are approached with a signature “knurled rubber” vulcanization.

Beginning with the Half Cab, colorways of “White/Safety Orange” and “White/White” are offered, allowing for either a striking or subtle look. Its deconstructed composition removes the upper’s padding and replaces its lower panels with the aforementioned vulcanization. As for the Authentic, a “White/Bone” colorway sees the sneaker in a minimalistic yet conceptual look that utilizes a single piece upper. Similar to the Half Cab pairs, its heel panel and toe box feature the exaggerated “knurled rubber.” Co-branding elements throughout the range include “BENJAMIN EDGAR, A VULCANIZED COMPANY” text at the lateral’s midsole and an “OBJECT” tag at the medial.

Release for Benjamin Edgar’s Vault by Vans footwear collection, featuring the Half Cab and Authentic, is scheduled for November 4. Products will be exclusively available via Benjamin Edgar’s web store.”

Inspired by a unique marriage of skateboarding and street basketball subcultures framed in a contemporary aesthetic, Rokit is an homage to champions born of pavement and blacktop. Although they seem to be two drastically different worlds, many who grew up in the skateboarding culture understand the diversity of individuals involved, the culture being a melting pot of backgrounds brought together by the love of the sport. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that those who step off a deck would then step onto the court, and vice versa.

This season, Rokit joins Vans in a partnership blending style and craft for a collection inspired by global perspective with local roots in mind. Referencing Downtown Los Angeles, the community this brand calls home and its place within the broader scope of the world at large.

The Vans X Rokit Sk8-Hi 38 DX WS uses a muted color palette, heavy textures at the sidestripes, and a see-through sidewall print, while the Vans X Rokit Half Cab 33 DX uses a muted color palette, unique appliques, and a see-through sidewall print, and lastly the Vans X Rokit Old Skool 36 DX WS uses a muted color palette, heavy textures at the sidestripes, and a see-through sidewall print, all for a modern look that reflects the Rokit lifestyle.

info via Hypebeast:

“Artist and designer Connor Tingley was formally trained as an illustrator and classical painter as a kid and has since brought his artistic vision to collaborative projects. The Southern California native began preparing his latest project in 2020, pouring hours into research and design for the special opportunity to work with Vans. Vans Skate x Humidity Skate Shop – Half Cab Sentry GTX (10.7.22)

HO22_Humidity_HalfCab_30th_2268

Humidity has been stomping the streets of New Orleans since 1996, so to say they’re familiar with the rugged streets of the Big Easy (and its climate) is an understatement. When you live, skate, tag, and create in New Orleans, you need a sneaker that’s as unique, proud, and sturdy as the city itself, so Vans Skateboarding and Humidity have joined forces for the do-anything Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX.

A blacked-out silhouette that Humidity proudly states is “built for ANY situation,” the Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX is a mash up of Vans Skateboarding footwear. That’s to say Humidity’s owner Phillip Santosuosso pulled in bits and pieces from across Vans’ skate lineup to create something new and unexpected.

Featuring a blacked-out color scheme, the Vans Skateboarding x Humidity Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX upgrades the classic Half Cab silhouette with a fully waterproof GORE-TEX membrane and a lugged Wafflecup sole. It’s half sneaker and half boot, and it leans further into its tactical-and-technical styling with daisy-chain heel webbing plus reflective boot laces.

The details don’t stop there either, as the upper boasts an embossed Half Cab print and an oversized, reflective GORE-TEX logo that wraps around the heel to let everyone know that you’re not playing around no matter how intense the weather gets. A finishing touch is provided by a fully functional tongue pull with Humidity branding that sits atop the classic Half Cab tongue tag.

The Vans Skateboarding X Humidity Skate Half Cab Sentry GTX will release at Humidity Skate Shop on Friday, October 7, then hit select Vans Skateboarding retailers on October 19.

Vault by Vans x Better™ Gift Shop – Collection (10.8.22)

DOULBE-PRODUCT-SHOT-2

Vault by Vans and Toronto-based brand and retailer Better™ Gift Shop introduce a new take on two classic Vans silhouettes based on their last collaboration, which launched in 2020. Releasing on Saturday, Oct 8, 2022, the brands reworked the Style 36 VLT and Half Cab VLT, retailing at $160.00 CAD and $180.00 CAD, respectively.

In the latest installment of its Vans partnership, Better™ Gift Shop took inspiration from its very own storefront. The building’s exterior of the Toronto shop (a Forest Green) is featured on the Style 36 VLT, rounded out with a marshmallow midsole. The Burgundy and Pewter seen on the shop’s storefront gates adorn the long-hair suede uppers of the Half Cab VLT, complemented by a black midsole.

The accompanying campaign features the legendary Hong Luck Kung Fu Club, performing traditional Lion Dancing. Established in 1961 as a nonprofit organization, Hong Luck Kung Fu Club has been offering kung fu, martial arts, Lion Dance training, and Lion Dance services for 60+ years, proudly upholding the tradition in the Asian and Canadian communities.

“Community is everything, and we’ve always wanted to design a shoe that takes inspiration from our surroundings,” said the Better™ Gift Shop team. “Working with our neighbors is something we’ve always wanted to do, and Vans gave us that opportunity. Incorporating the Hong Luck Kung Fu Club was a natural integration into the campaign.”

The Style 36 VLT comes with grey laces, while the Half Cab VLT is packaged with black laces. Reflective lace options are available in both styles. Better™ Gift Shop branding on the lace tips ensures the minimal design remains uninterrupted. Each pair ships in a custom box that illustrates the brand’s iconic Toronto flagship store.

The shoes will be available at Better™ Gift Shop’s Toronto flagship location, online at https://www.bettergiftshop.com, and select Vault by retailers including DSM and Beams.

Vans Skate x Bruce Lee – Collection (Available Now!)

DualShot

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Vans Skate has joined forces with the Bruce Lee estate, to bring us this super dope collaboration.  First introduced to us by Steve Caballero, via his own website, we now have a wider release available to us, for this awesome pack.  We get two shoes here, a Skate Half Cab, as well as the instantly-popular Skate Half Cab, which sold out damn near instantly on Cabbie’s webstore.

When you visualize Bruce Lee, you immediately think of the iconic Game of Death outfit, and that’s the inspiration that this pack was designed around.  The Skate Old Skool is done up in mostly black suede, but features a large photo graphic on each side panel.  Yellow accents can be found on the inside lining as well as the foxing stripe.  The Skate Half Cab features a primarily yellow suede, mixed with black.  Also, Steve Caballero allowed the iconic Half Cab logo to be replaced with a Bruce Lee flying kick logo.  The entire shoe is very Wu-Tang-esque if you ask us!  Both pairs finish off nicely with a debossed Bruce Lee quote on the sidewall, that reads “Be water, my friend.”

Both pairs are showing as available on the Vans site.  Both pairs retail for $90 each.  Click on the pic above or HERE to support UTP and purchase them from Vans.

Vault By Vans x Concepts – “Question the Answers” Collection (10.7.22)

ETS211236-S005_1485_01_sRGB

info via Vans

Following 2020’s “King’s Road” pack, Concepts’ latest collaborations with Vans bring light to the intersection of luxury design, skate style, and Two-Tone fashion with the “Question the Answers” collection.

Named for a 1994 album by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the collection merges the classic Vans checkerboard pattern with a hallmark material from the heyday of the ‘70s and ‘80s punk-driven London fashion mohair. In this, Concepts bridges the gap between generation-defining designer Vivienne Westwood, ‘80s Two-Tone style, and centuries-old design houses.

“Working with Vans has given us space to experiment with the rich history of punk fashion,” says Deon Point, Concepts Creative Director. “This latest collection, which includes our most progressive in-house clothing assortment, allows us to honor local music history and relay our deep knowledge of luxury design details.”

Two OG SK8-Hi’s, an OG Authentic LX, and an OG Old Skool NS LX are dressed in mohair to give Vans’ classic checkerboard a fresh perspective. Each colorway honors Vans’ legacy print in new articulations. Design details from the custom boxes draw from the Sex Pistols, poster boys of the hardcore punk era from which mohair transformed from pedestrian wear to aspirational fashion.

“Given the nod to both Damier prints and Westwood-era mohair, the ‘Question the Answers’ collection was the perfect drop for us to flex our luxury streetwear sensibility,” says Point.

A series of chino pants and a polar checker fleece and shorts pays homage to the early ‘80s Two-Tone scene, which merged Jamaican ska and punk elements. The assortment also includes the Concepts Icon hoodie, sweatpants, and T-Shirts — garments expressing Concepts’ studied approach to fit and fabrication.

The Vault by Vans x Concepts “Question the Answers” collection launches exclusively on October 7 at CNCPTS Boston, CNCPTS NYC, CNCPTS Dubai, and cncpts.com. Shoes range from $90 to $110.
