H021_Vans_Bape_Elevated_6_Crop

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand is proud to partner with BAPE®, the iconic Japanese streetwear pioneers for their first ever head-to-toe collection.

The Vans x BAPE® collection will be sold exclusively at Vans and BAPE® retail locations and at Vans.com and Bape.com. The collection will be available beginning November 1st in China, followed by November 13th for the Asia-Pacific region and will land in the select Americas retail locations and EMEA on November 29th followed by Vans.com on November 30th.

Vans x BAPE® will be launching on:

  • November 1st in China
  • November 13th in the Asia-Pacific Region
  • November 29th in EMEA and Americas, BAPE® retail and BAPE.com
  • November 30th on Vans.com

BAPE® (“A Bathing Ape”) has been bringing Japanese street style to the world since 1993. Situated in the heart of Tokyo – one of the world’s leading fashion hubs – BAPE® has remained a symbol of street fashion for more than 27 years.

Vans and BAPE® share the same roots – street culture and self-expression. In late 2020, the two brands gave streetwear fans a glimpse at what could be, with a limited-edition Vans Customs collection, sold exclusively in China. Fast forward nearly a year, and for their first global collection, it’s only fitting that they bring together their iconic identities for an apparel and footwear range that redefines classic silhouettes.

The first drop of the collection includes two of Vans’ most recognizable footwear icons – the Sk8-Hi 38 DX and the Authentic 44 DX. The Sk8-Hi 38 DX features BAPE®’s ABC camo outline, with a classic Vans black and white twist. A custom camo tongue label and statement red Waffle outsole add an elevated touch. For fans of A Bathing Ape’s iconic camo print, the Authentic 44 DX combines BAPE®’s first ever camo and Vans’ ripstop canvas for a more low-key look.

Completing the collection is a statement hoodie available in two colorways – Black and Heather Grey – featuring a mash-up of logos and camo prints.

Vault by Vans x Haven – OG Lampin VLT LX (10.23.21)

HAVEN-x-VANS-HVN-VV-05-LAMPIN-LX-VANS-Vault-FW21-Oct-Web-1

After joining forces in 2019 and 2020, Vault by Vans and Haven are back for their third collaboration in as many years: a technical take on the ‘90s Lampin. Though the OG Lampin VLT LX’s name may imply laid-back luxury, Haven has given it a striking material upgrade — making for a shoe that’s equally apt at adventuring as it is relaxing.

The Vault by Vans x Haven OG Lampin VLT LX’s upper is crafted of supple, water-resistant hairy suede, contrasted by tonal nubuck on the medial midfoot and the heel stripe. The shoe’s interior is geared towards ultimate comfort thanks to a soft pigskin leather lining supported with a cushy padded collar. Dual-branded leather insoles feature ULTRACUSH™ HD foam that provides a premium feel, both on and off-board. There’s also a laser-etched nubuck brand tab, nodding to the design’s collaborative nature. Down below, Vault by Vans’ signature vulcanized waffle rubber outsoles are embellished with contrasting black foxing and a black heel bumper to complete the details.

The Vault by Vans x Haven OG Lampin VLT LX will release in store at HAVEN Toronto and HAVEN Vancouver as well as on the HAVEN website on October 23, and is priced at $150 CAD. In-store releases will occur at 12:00 PM local time, while the online drop will go down at 11:00 AM EST/8:00 AM PST. Vans Champions Community & Creativity on 3rd Annual Vans Checkerboard Day (11.18.21)

Vans, the original action sports brand and advocate for creative expression, is bringing the Vans Family together to rebuild and revitalize communities across the world in honor of Vans Checkerboard Day on November 18, 2021. This year, Vans will partner with DoSomething.org, global non-profit whose core competency is driving young people to take action at scale, to invite fans to participate in local and digital activations that help build vibrant, inclusive and rejuvenated public spaces through arts and culture.

“Research shows that art and creative expression are not only proven to benefit an individual’s academic, physical and mental well-being, but uplift and improve entire communities, especially when shared in public spaces,” says Doug Palladini, Vans Global Brand President. “Many of our local community and public spaces have been somewhat neglected since March 2020. As a champion for the power of creativity, we’re encouraging Vans fans to join us this Vans Checkerboard Day in being a part of activities and initiatives that showcase how creativity truly revitalizes our communities.”

As the brand’s single largest philanthropic initiative, Vans will support 16 charities from around the world who share a mission of revitalizing public spaces through arts, sports, culture and social impact programming by donating a collective $1 million USD. Each regional organization will receive $50,000 USD from The Vans Checkerboard Fund at Tides Foundation or via a direct donation from Vans to use towards their organization’s mission to continue their work around the world to build vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming spaces to support their local communities. Additionally, as the 2021 global partner, DoSomething.org will receive $250,000 USD as they continue to encourage young people to act in their communities, with $25,000 USD of this directly benefiting youth scholarships. This year’s recipients are: GoodPush, Groundswell, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Colectivo Tomate, Nations Skate Youth, Dignity for Children, Another Way of Seeing, ArtDream, Skateboard Academy, Hackney Bumps, Juju Surf Club, Indigo Youth Movement, Girls in Film, Jukebox Collective and The Hub.

Vans Checkerboard Day 2021 will reinforce that Together Makes It Better by inviting fans to participate in local and digital activations that help build vibrant, inclusive and rejuvenated public spaces through arts and culture.

“Uplifting communities through the power of creativity is a value shared by Vans and DoSomething’s 5 million members,” said DeNora Getachew, Chief Executive Officer of DoSomething.org. “We’re excited to partner with Vans to activate DoSomething members to join with communities across the world for Vans Checkerboard Day. Their generous donation will provide young people with scholarships towards their college, university, or vocational program’s costs. It’ll also fuel DoSomething’s civic volunteerism hub through which young people take action on social issues important to themselves and their community.”

Leading up to November 18, Vans will rally global fans to participate in a variety of initiatives focused on getting involved in community action. Activations include:

  • Vans.com/checkerboardday will serve as a directory of action in partnership with DoSomething.org so fans can join community events in their local city or participate in a variety of digital activations.
  • The #VansCheckerboardDay TikTok Challenge will share inspiring community projects, ways to sport your checkerboard pattern and tips for joining in on the celebration featuring Vans ambassadors on what community revitalization and creativity means to them.
  • On top of the $1 million of support by Vans, fans across the world will also have the ability to support the 15 regional charities by helping to raise additional donations. They can do so through the Vans Family app by donating loyalty points in support for a monetary donation. 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to The Vans Checkerboard Fund at Tides Foundation.

Since the inception in 2019, Vans Checkerboard Day has helped raise more than $2 million for nonprofits across the world, supporting creativity, mental wellness, and community engagement. Vans Checkerboard Day is celebrated annually to bring the Vans ethos of celebrating creative expression to life globally, rallying internal stakeholders, the extended Vans family and global consumers to come together around the world to experience why creativity matters and fund charities focused on uplifting creativity.

Visit Vans.com/checkerboardday to discover local meetups in your area, ways to participate in virtual events and activations or learn more about the participating charities and donate. Fans can also follow Vans on social media to participate and follow #VansCheckerboardDay on TikTok to join in.

Vans Skate x Ben Kadow – Skate Sk8-Hi “Spider Webs” (10.21.21)

VANS_BEN_K_SK8HI_0583

Ben Kadow’s on-board style is hard to define. It’s classic — rooted in decades of New York skate legends before him — but also contemporary, pushing the boundaries of street skating with a fearless, stick-or-slam mentality. He’s been a Vans Skate team member since 2018, is part of Hockey Skateboards and had a star turn in Supreme’s Blessed film. All this unique style and experience is incorporated on Kadow’s new Vans sneaker: a spiderweb-equipped take on the Sk8-Hi that follows up his Supreme-exclusive Sk8-Hi release from earlier in October.

Vans Skate Classics by Ben Kadow Sk8-Hi is centered around an olive nylon quarter panel and collar that’s covered from top to bottom by an expansive black spider web graphic. Its forefoot, toebox, eyestays and heel are dressed in supple-yet-sturdy black suede, while black and olive meet on the rope laces. Branding is handled by a black Jazz Stripe and an olive-splashed tongue badge. Further special graphics also appear on the insoles, thanks to a shatter print and Kadow’s stylized signature. High-gloss black midsoles and vulcanized gum rubber outsoles round off the look.

From a performance standpoint, the Vans Skate Classics by Ben Kadow Sk8-Hi features a POPCUSH energy return sockliner for superior cushioning and impact protection. DURACAP underlays and knurled foxing tape promise durability that can tackle even the toughest, Kadow-approved daily skate sessions, and the classic outsole is elevated with a SICKSTICK rubber compound for more grip and board feel.

The Vans Skate Classics by Ben Kadow Sk8-Hi will be released via Vans Skate retailers on October 21, priced at $85 USD. Please visit The Drop List, a calendar of Vans’ most exclusive product drops, for more information.

Vans x Awake NY – Collection (10.15.21)

AWAKE-NY-X-VANS-GROUP

Vans and Angelo Baque’s Awake NY have announced a bi-coastal collaboration consisting of three takes on the Classic Sk8-Hi. Combining Vans’ classic California cool with Awake NY’s New York roots, the Vans x Awake NY collaboration centers on a unique take on Vans’ classic checkerboard pattern.

Arriving in pink/black, green/blue, and blue/red, each style in the Vans x Awake NY Sk8-Hi collection features Batik swatches, which use a wax-resistant dye and a digitally printed checkerboard pattern, providing a worn-in look right out of the box. Edge-painted side stripes add a nuanced detail and are complemented by Awake NY’s logo subtly debossed on the shoe’s lateral forefoot. Classic Vans details like a white jazz stripe on the quarters, suede toe boxes, and white vulcanized midsoles finalize each look.

The Vans x Awake NY Sk8-Hi collection is also spotlighted in a special lookbook starring recording artist, designer, and Griselda Records founder Westside Gunn. The lookbook was shot by storied photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis.

“It’s exciting that Awake NY can serve as a conduit between the East and West Coasts. A partner like Vans truly complements us, and vice versa,” Awake NY founder Angelo Baque said. “As with all our collaborations, the community is the foundation. We’re looking forward to working with Fresh Youth Initiatives, and Children of Promise, NY. With the power of Vans, Greenhouse, and Foot Locker behind us, we’re truly able to make a difference.”

The Vans x Awake NY Sk8-Hi collection will be available for purchase beginning October 15 via Awake NY and exclusively on Greenhouse October 20 and will be available for purchase exclusively at Foot Locker on October 22. Each pair is priced at USD 90.00.

Vans x MOCA – Collection (Nov. 2021)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_10_moca-vans-slip-on-sk8-hi-authentic-EVDNT-ultimateWaffle-release-date-1

info via Hypebeast:

Vans has teamed up with Los Angeles’ Museum of Contemporary Art for a four-piece footwear project. The new collection is a celebration of California’s culture and creativity and includes silhouettes such as the Authentic, Slip-On, Sk8-Hi and the EVDNT UltimateWaffle.

Each take in this range is styled in its own unique way in terms of its color-blocking, but they all feature the graphic design icons made by Ivan Chermayeff and
Tom Geismar in the 1980s. The most flashy of bunch is the Authentic pair which dons an all-over green and white polka dot pattern and the aforementioned logo on the lateral sides. Slip-Ons are predominantly done up in white, but feature blue and white checkerboard patterns around the collars, and the toe boxes equally split up the MOCA acronym. The Sk8-His here opt to go with a two-toned motif with white being the hue that covers most of the ground. Adjacent is a bold red that submerges the heels while faint gray branding is adorned on each foot. Lastly, the EVDNT UltimateWaffle opts for the grayscale aesthetic. Uppers and sole units are done up in a cool gray tone, and come ornamented with black branding atop the side panels and the tongues.

Look for these to drop sometime in November, according to Hypebeast

VANS PARTNERS WITH FOUR RISING VISUAL ARTISTS TO HONOR LATINX HERITAGE MONTH WITH ‘SO MUCH MORE’ INITIATIVE

thumbnail_image001

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, has partnered with four rising visual artists to honor Latinx Heritage Month as part of the ‘So Much More’ initiative. Putting the power in the hands of the young Latinx creatives, ‘So Much More’ works to break down preconceived, one-dimensional notions of Latino identity through each artist’s interpretation of what Latino culture means to them. The artists explored varying themes and ideas such as food, traditions, symbols, etc., through one-of-a-kind designs, ultimately presenting authentic, multi-faceted depictions of Latinidad, showing that there is so much more to the dynamic community. The featured artists include Colombian American nonbinary artist Marisa Fulper, visual artist and musician Camilo Medina, Chicago-based artist Tatee Garcia and Los Angeles-based painter Daniel Gibson.

Vans understand the power of the Latinx community and the importance of amplifying and supporting their voices today. The initiative exists solely to empower young creatives and show the many ways that Latinx culture influences the world we live in today. The posters will be available in limited quantities at Vans stores throughout the US, including shops in Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and more – list of cities below.
