That's what I'm talking about! Once they fully dry, it should lighten up too. Also, "dry" brush them out with a suede brush, or the jason markk brush (dry), to bring that nap back in the suede. Should even out pretty nicely. My fingers get numb after doing about 2 or 3 pairs that need cleaning like this. Probably cause I use the microfiber more than the brush.
I busted out the JM today, hit the Usugrow HC and Super Ape Skates. I found a piece of a chip in my adidas. Lol. Gross. My results aren't as impressive. All black uppers dot show much. The mid sole was the area most effected. Also the lace holes were gross. Can't wait til they dry.
I was just wondering the same thing, I'venever used any scotchguard or anything on my shoes, and was wondering if it would effect the texture of the suede or leather on the shoes. Any experience? Good or bad?
I scotchgaurded a pair of suede shoes once a long while ago and it killed the suede. I did no research on it or anything, just figured it would be a good idea and it wasn't. Made the suede super dark and hard.
Sounds like it was over-sprayed. Most cans of that water repellent stuff say to spray from 10-12 inches away, which makes it mist. I don't even know what's a sufficient amount to apply, but I have used it before on shoes, and on a few pairs, it seemed to bleed the colors slightly, from the humidity of the shoe, and my hot sweaty foot! Of course, this is if it's your daily pair. I'm sure it don't affect the kicks you seldom wear. It takes awhile for that funk to build up in your daily shoe. If I wear my beaters, I don't like stepping into my nice shoes, and transferring the funk! I only wear my really nice shoes, if I just took a shower, and put on new socks. Keepin' it clean son! I think I've just gotten a little too personal with you guys, hehe.
hahah agreed but I'm the same way. Used to rotate shoes more often but been getting lazy I just wear a pair of blazer lows to work everyday cause I got about 10 other shoes to clean up. Usually put in work on cleaning a shoe after i'm going to rotate them out. Mainly just cleaning up the mid soles. Then i'll store them away and break out some other pairs.
I just use a beat tooth brush to scrub, this soft bristle brush to kill of dust and loose dirt, and those shoe nubuck/suede earsers. Doesn't flawlessly clean but does a very good job none the less.
^Honestly, if you're going to give up and put a pair of shoes in the washing machine, it doesn't really matter what settings or tempature you use. Depending on the material, they will most likely never be the same shoe again.
