Yea, if you've scrutinized every release like I have, then you'll notice that this Originals category premiered with the Palm Leafs, and the OG Slip-Ons in White, Navy, Black or Checkerboard (I think). They modeled the shoes after their original Made In USA renditions, with features like the slim insole, leather heel pad, and the OG shape, meaning the foxing rubber wrapped up on top of the toe slightly, making for a lower, more flat toe. Then, they created a red silk-screened heel tab, similar to the USA Vans, and finished them off with a special "Van Doren" box. This season, we have the Palm Leafs, Style 36 (Old Skool in Navy/Yellow and Orange/White), the Disney collection, and the W)Taps.wolfstrice09 wrote:Vans Vault "Originals" is its own line within the Vans Vault category.
Not sure if the Van Doren line was always in the plans, or if it was due to the success of the palm leafs. It's just confusing when they use the same box for both sub-brands. The addition of the LX at the end of the name of the shoe, usually means it's Vault. This cross-over thing has happened with Vault and California in the past as well, with the LVEVL pack, and Mtn. Edition Mids. Both have "CALIFORNIA" branded on the insoles, but clearly they're Vault, with the Vault tag with the season date on the back, and of course the LX at the end of their names. Basically, don't try and figure this shit out, cause Vans will just confuse you again on some other new introduction of a new sub-brand, haha!
BTW, here's some pic references of the shoes I was mentioning:
