Yeah, we're good friends... I actually started reading your blog cause of him. When I first started kicking it with him, he always used to talk about how much you're into Vans. Small world!

I used too... I want to build up a Cooks Bros, S&M or SE RACING frame to ride.

When I get that I can go with the 4130 guys in Los Angeles on their Subway Series ride.

Nice bikes ClutchStar...

Dont know if I will have my bike build that soon... might just have to crash the ride on a Vintage Schwinn.

Wonder if that HB ride will be at night??

I am sure it will be an interesting ride.. Wonder how HBPD will be with them?

When they rode after the "40 yrs of BMX" exhibit in LB the LBPD was all over em.

Today I rode the grand opening of the separated bikeways on Broadway & 3rd street in LB.. then had lunch at the Congregation Ale House.

Oh nice, looks like I missed out.

As for the HB ride, it's gonna be in the afternoon I'm told. Dunno how HBPD is gonna handle that; you figure that it's OC, so you know the cops are gonna be on some gestapo business.

I hadn't heard about anyone being hassled at the LB ride. Think of it this way, bike riders/skateboarders have been at war with the police for a long time, don't think it's gonna change any time soon.

If you want ClutchStar I can give you a heads up of events that are coming up that I know of... I ride mainly with a group called Cyclone Coasters but we tend to appear at other rides.

LBPD had 10+ squad cars following the 4130 LB ride from Marina Pacifica over the bridges toward Belmont.... there were maybe 150+ riders.

My friends and I broke off and went to get some food.... then we saw them STILL being "escorted/followed" on the way back.

If you go to the HB 4130 ride I would be prepared to SCRAMBLE fast when HBPD moves in.... it might get ugly.

Looks like a fun time I will probably be there BMX bicycle or not....

All this BMX bike talk gets me all nostalgic! My bike went with me everywhere as a kid, and I loved bike riding everywhere. My dad was all into bikes too, so we would swoop up on stingrays, old GT frames, and what not, at local yard sales. I had a chrome Mongoose growing up, that was riding on some black Skyway 5-star mags. Couldn't afford a GT Performer, like my spoiled friends had, but I made do with what I had. Shit, I could ride their bikes better than they could. Hated that!

On a side note...anyone looking to buy a pair of GT tri-spoke mags (narrow round style, not the flat-fan style found on the Dyno Air from around 95), with OG GT tires (with the "GT" treads), still in great condition? I paid $80 for the set, but the axles were too skinny for my Dyno Comp that I sold to my friend. I also have some AME "triangle" handgrips, too.

Billy I remember riding my bike all over... my favorite spot to ride when I was maybe 10 was the THRIFTY DRUG to get ice cream (triple scoop was 20 cents I think) and check out the bicycle section.

The as I got older I went to the "BICYCLE SOURCE" where all the BMX Pros seemed to hang out... got tons of freebie used parts.

I also remember goin to a HUGE swap meet in the OC where we bought all the parts like Billy mentioned to "BMX" our Stingray's.

Billy that Mongoose you had with the Skyways is worth BIG BUCKS NOW. :o

And I also had the spoiled neighbor kids who had the best bikes but couldnt ride em.... they pissed me off too.

Here is an example of how much that stuff goes for now.... this guys stuff is WAY OVER PRICED but still amazing to see its all NOS.

DANG!!!! By the video posted on youtube it looks like there were about that many riders, maybe more. I'm guessing the cops were harrassing because most if not all the riders weren't obeying all the traffic rules of bike riding. In the beginning of the ride when they were leaving, before going over the bridge, there was a car turning left, and they blazed right through the red light.

I'm just curious to see how HB is gonna handle the ride in June. They might even call for backup...lol...and have riot gear, tear gas, etc. Like I said, it's OC, any sign of a group out of control, even if it is controlled, they might panic and that's how people get hurt.

Yo, thanks for the heads up on the upcoming events and things, I will def. check it out.

B, isn't that so funny that the kids with money who got those expensive bikes, did not know how to ride 'em right; but us with what we had, we could straight show 'em up when we rode 'em...lol.

BTW, you still rockin' those CG IV's I sold you not too long ago?

WTF, Chris is that you?! Haha, man, I wore em once, and put them on ice. I need to break them back out, though, man! Just don't wanna put too much wear on em, that's all! And it's so damn true about the kids with the dope bikes not being able to do sh*t with them! I had one friend who didn't even know what the Gyro was for! I showed him how he could spin his handlebars all the way around, without tangling up the brake cables, and he was like  . How many of you all had pegs on the front and back, and rolled 3 deep on a bike...Jeepney style!?

...and Jim, I know exactly what the good BMXs go for...Acrylick Clothing up here in Azusa, by me, has a few brand new, old stock GT Performers, for like $400-$500...sooo nice though. I want a white one, like my friend's older brother, when we were a kid. White frame, white seat, white grips, crank, 5-star GT mags, and pedals. And the stickers were purple/blue. Man I loved riding that bike!

...btw, I was at my Aunt and Uncle's house this past Sunday, for our annual Easter party, and my cousin has been building this ramp for over a year. They live out in Temecula's wine country, so this is what all the kids do out here. Brian Deegan lives up the street from him, from Metal Mullisha. My cuz is like 13 or or 14 I think? He asked his mom for $150 in wood for his birthday. Talk about dedication, man! He wears a 10.5, and likes Chukka Lows, so if there's anyone besides me, who wants to hook him up with some kicks, he'd put them to great use! Check out his setup, and some of his moves I caught on my iPhone:

Yep, it's me B!!...lol.

That's nuts, just get his lil' work out area goin' on, and also the trampoline w/ the 'dummy' bike. I've seen that's how some people do it, to get the timing, speed, etc so they don't eat shit when they try to land the jump.

After my Mongoose got jacked in Jr. High, I hadn't had a bike in forever, until I picked up the GT and the Robinson recently. I'm still trying to understand the hype around fixed/single gear bikes. Can you or someone 'splain it to me?
