Vault by Vans x Blends – OG Style 36 LX “Bones” (3.11.17) @blends_official #blendsvans

We have been receiving teasers for a few weeks, but official info has just released from Blends, regarding their next Vault by Vans collab, once again bringing us their iconic “Bones” jazz stripe, this time on an OG Style 36 LX.  A few sneaker blogs who don’t really know their Vans have been calling these Old Skools, but we forgive them, for they do not know!  The Style 36 is essentially the father of the Old Skool, before it underwent a change to the toe cap, lace eye row gap, and tongue length.  Those are the noticeable features, at least.  These are constructed in premium cowhide.  Black for the uppers, and white on the jazz stripe.  The shoe harkens back to their first and second designs, and we’re definitely not mad at that.  These will be releasing this Saturday at all Blends locations, as well as their online store.  Be quick, as these sell out almost instantly.  Here’s what Blends has to say about these:

“Southern California based boutique Blends partners up with Vans’ premium label Vault by Vans for the seventh installment of the Blends x Vans Vault Bone Jazz-Stripe series. This time Blends takes to the Style 36 silhouette, the original Old Skool design. The model comes dressed in premium cowhide uppers accented by a White Bone Jazz-Stripe which sits atop the original Old Skool “Style 36” midsole mold. As before, collaborative branding can be found placed on the shoe’s footbed cushioning. To off-set the close similarity to their second collaboration with Vault, the Old Skool Zip, Blends opts for tonal foxing and White text on the shoe’s heel tab device as well as the “no zip” design. The Blends x Vans Vault OG Style 36 LX will be available this Saturday, March 11th, via Blendsus.com at 11AM PST and all Blends locations.”

Vans Vault x Opening Ceremony – OG Old Skool LX “Glitter Pack” (Available Now!)

GlitterPack3

Words via Highsnobiety:
“If you’ve been paying attention to Opening Ceremony, you might already know that they’ve been working with Vans to produce monthly drops. The latest edition of the collaborative effort is the new “Glitter Pack,” a shiny set of classic sneakers which have justified the collection’s namesake in every way.

For this drop, the Vans OG Old Skool LX is re-designed with all-over glitter; marking this as the first time Vans has done an all-glitter shoe (including the sole, laces and stripe). Colors include a set of anthracite/black, blue/red and bright blush/true white editions.

The “Glitter Pack” is now available at Opening Ceremony’s official site for a retail price of $110 each.”

Vans Vault x Union – OG Old Skool LX (3.18.17)

unionvansig-700x560

Words via Union:

“Union Los Angeles is proud to announce the launch date for our first collaboration with our Cali neighbors, Vans.
On March 18th, we will release three colors of the Union x Vans ‘Old Skool’ collaboration; A Dusty Pink, A Muted Gold and an Off White.
The shoe’s design is simple, but the devil is in the details.  For the main body of the shoe we used a “lux” twill weave matched with a smooth, buttery suede and the Vans “stripe” is made of a smooth “lux” pebble grain leather.  Each shoe is tonal, head to toe with the exception of the inner shoe, we used a natural veg-tan leather on. As for the sole unit, we popped with a marine blue boat-shoe sole, just for shits and giggles.

We will be launching some accompanying apparel with the capsule so stay tuned for more images and further editorials leading up to the release.”

Judging by the pics, these look to be a Vault OG release.  The footbed says ORIGINALS on it.  Not sure how or why Union would fail to mention it.  I guess these are just another pair of Vans “lows” huh?  One other feature that even Union failed to mention, which stands out the most to me, is the two oversized “donut” lace eyelets.  Something you don’t see every day.

Vans Vault x Our Legacy – Collection (2.25.17)

our-legacy-vans-vault-1

Vault by Vans teams up with Our Legacy out of Sweden, to bring this overwhelmingly robust collection, full of very high quality pieces.  If you’re like me, and have never heard of Our Legacy, then Vans has been kind enough to interview co-owner Jockum Hallin about his brand and his style influence.  After reading the short article, I really respect his approach to what he produces.  With a focus on fabric, color choices, and dyeing techniques, and not over designing things, they’re able to let the fabrics and silhouettes do the talking.  That’s exactly what you are getting with this pack.  Vans approached them to do a small project, but they came back with a much larger idea, and after a little bit of compromise, they ended up with a mere 10 shoes, a bunch of tees, a hoodie, and a coaches jacket.  Needless to say, this is a big one.

Our Legacy holds themselves to a high standard, and it shows in the attention to details of this collection.  They chose their favorite models, the Authentic Pro LX, Old Skool Pro 92 LX, Half Cab Pro 92 LX, and a Sk8-Mid Pro 91 LX.  It’s worth noting that we haven’t seen a Pro LX model yet, so this is a cool first.  Each pair consists of a high quality army nylon, hairy suede, or a mixture of both.  The Half Cab appears to be the band leader with it’s bright orange hairy suede, but the low-key winner is the Sk8-Mid with it’s single-stitch collar, for that true vintage vibe.  That’s the one.

To really understand this pack, you just have to read the Vans interview, but enjoy the pics after the jump!

Vans Vault – OG Authentic LX & OG Sk8-Hi LX (Spring 2017)

We finally get a look at the next round of Vans Vault OG’s.  These are always a winner in our book.  Colors and shape are vintage-esque, and the price points are exactly where we like them.  For Spring ’17, we see the OG Authentic LX return in 3 colorways: Olive, Cumin, and Storm Blue, while the OG Sk8-Hi LX appears in: Ghost Grey, Antelope, and Blue Nights.  These are already starting to pop up at a few Vault dealers like Hot Rod, but should be everywhere Vaults are sold, soon.

Vans Vault x Undercover – OG Old Skool LX & OG Era LX (2.4.17)

undercover-vans-2017-collaboration-368-02

Words via Hypebeast:

“It’s been several months since there were any updates regarding UNDERCOVER‘s collaboration with Vault by Vans. Fortunately for Jun Takahashi fans the full offering of footwear has finally been unveiled. For Spring 2017 the Japanese label has reworked both the OG Era LX and the OG Old Skool LX silhouettes, the latter of which is arguably the stand out silhouette. Arriving in two colorways of grey and bordeaux, the classic low-top boasts tonal color treatments and an all-over floral pattern, an ever-present theme in Takahashi’s past collections. The Era on the other hand features a relatively simple text-focused design along the toe box reading “Take me in time, time to the music, Take me away to the twilight zone,” which refers to the English rock band Temple’s 2014 single “Shelter Song.” This model is available in colorways of white (not pictured above), black and red. Retailing between $130 USD and $150 USD, you can purchase the UNDERCOVER x Vault by Vans collection at select accounts starting February 4”.

Vans Vault x DSM x Braindead – Sk8-Hi Reissue LX (1.14.17)

kyle-ng-brain-dead-dsm-vans-sk8-hi-1

Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to get back into the swing of things, and Vault is kicking things off in a big way, with Dover Street Market and this past year’s most popular brand Brain Dead.  They’ve created 3 tonal colored Sk8-Hi’s, covered in a checkered high-density print, featuring a Brain Dead label on the side of the shoe, and a unique foxing with a molded graphic that says “stamp out reality”, which is their way of saying “change the status quo”.  Interesting.  The pair is going to be available in black, white, and forest green, and will release exclusively through DSM.  Don’t sleep if you plan on getting these.  I can’t see them sitting for very long.
