Vans Donates Over 2,500 Shoes To Northern California Fire Victims

“With the Carr Fire wildfire tearing its way through the northern California counties of Shasta and Trinity, Vans has stepped up to offer some assistance to victims.

Yesterday at the brand’s Anderson, California outlet, a truck pulled up driven by Steve Van Doren, son of the brand’s co-founder. Inside was more than 2,500 pairs of shoes along with 2,000 T-shirts and hats, all of which were given away for free to those in attendance.

“I think people have to have heart and one thing Vans is, is a family company, and we have heart,” Van Doren told ABC affiliate KRCR. “We have stores in the area and the people around here are a part of our family. So when disasters happen we want to come out and show our appreciation to the community.”

The Carr Fire began on July 23 and has destroyed over 1,500 buildings and resulted in 8 fatalities.
