Vans x Jon & Vinny’s – “Kitchen Friendly” Collection (Exclusive)

vans-kitchen-shoe-collaboration-01

Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans cooks up a new footwear collaboration with renowned chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo. Co-founders of Jon & Vinny’s, Animal, Son of A Gun, and a few other restaurants in Los Angeles, Shook and Dotolo designed the collab with a professional kitchen setting in mind, creating some special makeups of Vans’ Authentic, Slip-On, Old Skool and Sk8-Hi silhouettes.

The pack comes adorned with colors and themes from Shook and Dotolo’s various Los Angeles eateries, on top of specially coated water-and-dirt-resistant canvas uppers and enhanced footbeds – so each shoe is well-equipped for the rigors of kitchen work. Durable water-resistant coatings allow the shoes to repel liquid, while upgraded cushioning provides arch support during long periods of standing.”

Vans Joins Iconic Personalities to Honor the Legacy of the Sk8-Hi

SP16_SK8_HI_LOOKBOOK_03

2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the original action sports footwear and apparel brand. In honor of this fete, Vans commemorates the Sk8-Hi, the iconic style that carries the progressive and storied history of the Vans brand down to its sole. The Sk8-Hi is admired by many for its simplicity and its ability to be worn across a range of cultural influences. To showcase the Sk8-Hi’s depth, Vans partners with a roster of icons to tell the story of the Sk8-Hi and its impact on expression.

Marked with Vans’ coveted Sidestripe, the Sk8-Hi was first seen on the streets in 1978. Its introduction marked a milestone in footwear as the first high top designed by skaters for skateboarding. With its core deeply rooted in action sports, the Sk8-Hi has since been embraced by communities within music, fashion and art, and has grown to represent the creative cultures and personalities of the past, present and future.

Vans brings together skateboarding legend, Steve Caballero, Grammy nominated artist Syd Tha Kyd, Vans skate team rider Lizzie Armanto, punk rock icon Henry Rollins, celebrated artist and animator Jay Howell, international model Natalie Westling and professional surfer and Vans team rider Wade Goodall to help tell the unmatched history of the Sk8-Hi. Vans artfully captures intimate moments with each ambassador and their deep connections to the Sk8-Hi while showing the time-tested function and personal style capabilities the silhouette represents.  Together these iconic personalities embody the rich heritage of the Sk8-Hi silhouette and the evolution of the Vans brand.

Vans Vault x Gosha Rubchinskiy – Era Deconstruct LX (Available Now)

Gosha+Rubchinskiy+x+Vans+Vault+Authentic+LX+for+SS16-1

Words and info via Strictly Waffles:

“Russia’s Gosha Rubchinskiy teams up with Vans Vault for another collaboration this season. Dropping in three colorways, the Authentic LX is constructed of cotton canvas with contrasting stitching with red Gosha branding in cyrillic on the heel cap. A black mid and outsole with red Vans heeltab finishes off all three.

The Gosha Rubchinskiy x Vans Vault Authentic LX for SS16 is available now from Dover Street Market, both in store and online. Retail is $145.”

(These were noted as an Authentic LX, but Vans can sometimes be sneaky, and the presence of a heel panel indicates an Era, but when there isn’t a padded collar, then the shoe is known as a Deconstruct.  Gosha doesn’t really seem to know his Vans, because he just calls them a “canvas shoe”, so go figure.  Gotta love it!)

My Top 5 Vans Pick-Ups of 2015 #underthepalms

Top 5 Vans Pickups of 2015

It’s been a good year for Vans.  No, scratch that.  It’s been a GREAT year for Vans!  The collaborations were top-notch.  Every sub-brand had something cool to offer.  Vault by Vans pumped out a lot of epic collaborations, and Vans Syndicate finished off their first 10 years strong with some of the best retros and re-releases we never thought we’d see.  The GR collaborations were just as epic, speaking mainly of Disney and the Young At Heart collection.  It’s no surprise that Vans’ Instagram followers show more enthusiasm and response than all of the other shoe brands out there.  I always get asked to form my own list of top sneakers of the year, and for this year I wanted to share my personal 5 favorite pick-ups.  I’ve also created a little back story for each shoe, so enjoy!

Vans Classics – Late Night Pack (2015)

Vans+Late+Night+Pack+Sk8+Hi+Cheeseburger

Words and info via Strictly Waffles:

“It might be winter, but it’s 90º somewhere, and Vans is gearing up for warmer weather. They have release a new Late Night Pack with a very spring feel. The pack consists of various Authentics and Slip Ons with printed photos of desserts and food. Vans has the whole food pyramid covered with macaroons, pizza, french fries, and donuts. A couple standouts from this pack are the Sk8 Hi and Slip On with stylized cheeseburger graphics and classic checkerboard pattern. The graphics remind us of the ultra limited Cobra Snake x Colette Era from a few years back.”
