Color palettes that you’d perhaps find on some vintage Made In USA Vans from the 80’s and 90’s, to match the “OG” shape and overall aesthetic. Each of the 4 colorways feature their own contrasting heel strip, which is also a feature from years ago that I hope we helped champion it’s return. Damn Daniel And Josh Appear on Ellen! (Video)

It looks like Ellen has caught wind of the “Damn Daniel” viral video, and had Daniel and Josh come on to her show to talk about it. The high school kids are from Riverside, CA, so that probably made it a little bit easier to get them on, but the coolest part is that Ellen, known for her awesome gifts for her guests, gave Josh, the friend who took the snapchat videos of Daniel, and who’s voice deserves most of the credit for the viral clip, a brand new surfboard. Daniel got the coolest gift of all though. A lifetime supply of Vans shoes, thanks to Vans. What perfect timing for the 50th anniversary of Vans!

Vans Vault x DQM – The Halves OG Sk8-Hi LX & OG Style 36 LX (2.26.16)

“DQM will be releasing its Spring 16 footwear collection in collaboration with Vans this Friday, February 26th. The collection inlcudes an OG SK8-Hi LX and an OG Style 36 LX, both produced in all black and all white premium leather color ways. Made exclusively for DQM, the shoes are inspired by a study in minimalism, and in contrasts and transitions: two parts of one, light and dark, black and white, and the gray areas.

The shoes combine a feeling of minimalism, with refined, pared-back styling and a completely monotone palette, with a feeling of luxury, fabricated in soft, super premium full-grain leather and featuring quilted leather tongues and gold foil printing on cork insoles. They have a deconstructed look with minimal branding, simple punched eyelets and high-density printed side-stripes. The shoes feature ‘The General: DQM for Vans’ branding on the insoles and ‘DQM’ logos at the heel tabs.”

Produced in a limited edition, “The Halves” collection will be available in men’s and women’s sizes exclusively at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York on Friday, February 26th.

Vans Vault x OTH x Raised By Wolves – Raised By Wolves Pack (2.27.16)

Our friends to the North, OTH, have been teasing the official info of their upcoming 3-way collaboration with Vault By Vans, and Raised by Wolves. There’s been quite the build up on these, teasing a few photos here and there on social media, and surprising us with the mystery 3rd party collaborator, and we now get the full look on what will be coming out. This time, we get two MTE models, which couldn’t have come at a better time for everyone on the East Coast, and of course in Canada as well, where these will be released. But don’t worry, pairs will be available on both party’s websites as well. The design is clean and sophisticated, just like all of OTH’s Vans collabs, and the coolest feature is the mis-matched uppers, which we can think of only one other Vans collaboration out there who has used this idea. The shoes utilize the dye’s rich hues on tartan-print, canvas and corduroy with suede detailing. Vans Surf x Yusuke Hanai – Capsule Collection (Spring 2016)

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand and Japanese artist, Yusuke Hanai, team up for the first time to introduce the Vans x Yusuke Hanai capsule for spring 2016. Inspired by modern mid-century details and illustrations paying homage to surf culture Yusuke takes it to the next level with intricate artwork, while adding a youthful Vans twist to Vans Surf footwear silhouettes and apparel pieces.

The collection’s leading motif is a collage of surf-inspired illustrations including seagulls, fish, flowers, cacti and a sad surfer. The collection evokes a warm outdoor beach feel with an array of colors that include Antique White, Sterling Blue and Eggplant Burgundy. The Yusuke print can be found across the Vans Rata Vulc SF, the Authentic SF, the Slip-On SF and the Hanelei sandal. Yusuke’s designs are also featured across a diverse selection of Vans apparel including the Yusuke Hanai Boardshort, Tank and Reversible Bucket Hat that’s perfect for spring.

At the age of 25, Hanai left Japan for San Francisco to pursue an education in art. Hanai developed his own style after being inspired by artists within the counter-culture movement of the ‘60s. Known for his Japanese-infused, retro-styled illustrations, Vans is proud to collaborate with Hanai on a capsule that celebrates creative expression, surf and art.

Erwin is the originator of the Vans sneaker room. When he first joined our forum and shared photos of what he had safely locked inside of his house, we were stunned. It’s something that takes a long time to build, and many more have replicated what he has done, and in their own tasteful way, but I just had to pay homage to our friend. Erwin has been thinning the herd, selling off some less favored pairs, but he plans to keep most of the gems. As you can tell, he has a thing for the Sk8-Hi. When we were all buying Chukkas and Half Cabs, Erwin was picking up all of the rarest and coolest Sk8-Hi’s. What blows my mind is that he managed to do this all while residing in the Netherlands. That’s some serious dedication! Thanks for being a part of our core community, and helping educate the new Vans collectors. Salute!

Sole Classics is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year, and besides a new Vault By Vans shoe coming shortly, they’ve decided to create an awesome new social media campaign asking everybody “I Wear Vans Because…”. They’ve reached out to a few friends, including Doug Worthington of the Los Angeles Rams, to each give their own answer. This is a great question, and surprisingly I’ve never actually been asked this before. I guess I can say “I wear Vans because they’re authentic.” Newcomers may not understand this, but if you’ve been a Vans fanatic for as long as I have, you know and respect what they’re about. You just get it. Sole Classics gets it, and here’s what they had to say about this super clever campaign:

Vans Japan teams up with Japanese retailer Beams, to celebrate Vans’ 50th and Beams’ 40th anniversaries. They’ve created this vintage looking navy and white Era 59 for the pack, but the coolest thing of all is the vinyl toy that is included, of none other than Steve Van Doren! How cool is that? Why doesn’t Vans USA do this?! As per usual, these are exclusive to Beams Japan, unless you have a proxy.
