Vans x Nintendo – Capsule Collection (Coming Soon!)

vans-nintendo-sneaker-collaboration-002

This is an interesting collaboration!  Vans is teaming up with Nintendo, to release this fun collection of sneakers, paying homage to some of our favorite video game titles some of us grew up with.  Some of the styles are designed more towards the original NES games, complete with 8-bit graphics, featuring characters from Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Duck Hunt, while other designs feature more recent 64-bit graphics like Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.  There’s also a Sk8-Hi that features an all-over print of OG NES controllers.  The coolest part of this collection will be the custom boxes (not pictured), that look like original NES consoles.  As more info becomes available, we’ll share it with you.

Hypebeast Interview: Christian Hosoi Reflects On Being A Part of the Vans Legacy

hypebeast-christian-hosoi-vans-01

Hypebeast recently sat down with one of our favorite skate legends, Christian Hosoi, to reflect on his professional skateboarding career, and more specifically his role with Vans.  He’s one of the most recognizable skateboarders of all time, and it’s no surprise Vans approached him a long time ago, along with many other greats, to go out and represent the brand and be the cultural icon that he undoubtedly is.  This interview is great, and full of small stories that you’ll enjoy if you’re a fan of skateboarding history, culture, or just a fan of him.  Check it out over on Hypebeast!

Vans Japan x Sasquatchfabrix x BEAMS – Sk8-Hi (Japan Only!)

vans-sk8-hi-sasquatchfabrix-beams-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“After surfacing a while back, Sasquatchfabrix.‘s take on the Vans Sk8-Hi is finally set for an official release. Crafted exclusively for BEAMS and hot on the heels of the Japanese imprint’s coveted collab alongside Supreme, the kicks come with premium navy suede construction and white leather lining, contrast stitching, white rubber foxing, and a gum rubber outsole. The big draw here, though, is the addition of an elastic strap across the tongue — meaning the high-tops can be worn with or without laces.”

These have already dropped in Japan, so you may have a hard time finding them.

Vans Vault x Blends – Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX “Peacoat” Bones (5.7.16)

A close similarity to the original model that released in 2013, these feature a rich dark-blue “Peacoat” premium leather upper.
The shoes sport a modest balance of black detailing found throughout the upper, from the heel zipper, the midsole foxing, the flat waxed shoe strings, and “Bone” shaped Jazz Stripe atop Vans’ iconic waffle sole.

Vans Pro – 50th Anniversary LIMITED Sk8-Hi Reissue Pro ’77 “Cinnamon” (4.23.16 via Silo)

SK8HI77_PROFILE1.1

This month’s 50th Anniversary LIMITED release, is another retro model, this time paying tribute to the very first Sk8-Hi colorway, CINNAMON.  You probably won’t hear that from too many sources, but we’re not just any old source, are we?  The Sk8-Hi Reissue Pro comes in the common suede/canvas construction, and features the same Pro benefits that we’re all familiar with by now.  I even overheard a young girl arguing with her father in my local Vans store, about them not having her size in the Checkerboard Classic Slip-On Pro, and her dad was trying to offer up the GR one across the shelf, and she was adamant about having the Pro model.  I love it!  Anyways, these have the same allocation as Syndicates, so same limited availability, and distribution.  Look for them to release at Silo, as well as your local spot this weekend, the 23rd!

Thanks to Silo for the drop info and pics!

Vans Vault – Lite LX Collection (via @blends_official)

2_5626d37b-1faa-46b0-86ad-c3aab47517b4

Blends gives us a preview of the latest and greatest offerings from Vans Vault, featuring the inaugural debut of the Lite LX model.  Typically Vans shoes start off in the Vault line, and work their way down to the mainstream channels of Vans products, but this time it started out a little bit backwards.  What started off as an LXVI feature, which then made it’s way to every Vans store, the Lite line has been wildly successful, obviously due to their level of comfort compared to our typical beloved Vans.  The key feature is the CMEVA (Compression Molded Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) outsoles also known as Ultracush Lite technology.  With their smart “PICK ME UP” orange tags adorned on every pair, they sparked people’s curiosity, and once Vans started creating them in the classic colorways that we’re all familiar with, that’s when people really started to give them a chance.  We now get to see a premium versions of these shoes, by way of the Vault Lite series.  For the first round, we see 3 Authentic Lite LX’s, 2 Old Skool Lite LX’s, and 2 Sk8-Hi Lite LX’s, wrapped entirely in premium leather with leather insoles.  These will be available this weekend at all Blends accounts that carry the Vault by Vans line, as well as online.

Vans Japan – Style 72 Lacey “Native American” (Japan Exclusive)

Vans+Japan+Style+72+Lacey+'Native+American'

Words via Strictly Waffles:

“There are a few models that rarely get brought out of the archives for updated designs and the Style 72 Lacey is certainly one of them. For spring 2016, ABC Mart is stocking a few new designs but one stands out among the rest. For this pair, Vans JP has decided to use a Native American style mock up by adding bead work to the leather lace. The denim upper creates a nice contrast against the brown leather and red beading. This is another one of those times we really wish we could just walk down the street to ABC and pick up a couple pairs.

The Vans Japan Style 72 Lacey “Native American” is available now from ABC Mart. There is no US release planned”.

Words via Hypebeast:

“As a testament to the Vans Classic Slip-On’s timeless staying power and versatility, British designer Vivienne Westwood gives an eclectic twist on the iconic silhouette as a part of her eponymous label’s Anglomania collection. The skater favorite gets bold stripes with brushlike strokes throughout the upper, reflecting her modern punk aesthetic. Additionally, a large graffiti-inspired print of Westwood’s signature orb logo is seen on one shoe and comes with a matching box. Be on the lookout for the collaborative sneaker which will be available at select Vivienne Westwood stores in Japan beginning late April”.
