Vans x Slam City – Native Pro & Lampin Pro (10.22.16) (Video)

Vans has teamed up with world-famous Slam City Skates to celebrate their 30th anniversary, and for this special occasion they worked on a Native Pro and Lampin Pro, both in tonal colorways.  The Native takes it’s inspiration from the Madrid Fly Paper model, featuring the same tonal black uppers, vulcanized soles, crescent moon toe bumpers, and ollie pad.  The Native came out in 1988, which was the same year that Slam City opened their first doors at their Covent Garden location.  For their second shoe, the Lampin Pro which debuted in 1993, they just wanted to pay homage to the early 90’s skate scene, which was considered the golden age of skateboarding.  They went with an entirely marshmallow colorway, with accentuating white laces.  Both feature Savage Pencil’s Flamehead logo, for that custom touch.  Both pairs will be releasing online, tomorrow morning at 9AM UTC on Slam City Skate’s webshop.

Check out this short video of Slam City Skate’s upcoming collab with Vans, working together on a Lampin Pro and Native Pro.  Both pairs are looking really nice, with the Lampin coming in an all-white colorway, while the Native gets an all-black edition.  Both will be releasing this Thursday, on the 20th at The House of Vans London.  We think there’ll be pairs for in-store as well as online like with their past collabs.  If you’re near the shop stop by and check these out!

Masses Interview With Under The Palms Malaysia (from Sneakerlah)

Check out this video clip by Masses, featuring an interview by Under The Palms Malaysia’s Izam Shariman, and a few nice shots of the sneaker display that surely helped spread the word about the Vans sneaker collecting culture there in Malaysia.  I can’t translate the interview for you, but you can at least check out the cool visuals.  I can’t thank you enough Izam, for representing UTP across the Pacific!

Fear Of God – The Value Of A Shoe (Video)

Excerpt from FOG:

“What is the value of a shoe? On October 10, 2016 Jerry Lorenzo and his staff at Fear of God loaded two trucks of what were meant to be “influencer” promotional clothing and shoes, with bottles of water to hand out to Los Angeles’ homeless at Skid Row.”

Glad to see that these pairs went to the homeless, instead of a few “influencers”, but for some reason I think a bunch of people will be heading down to Skid Row looking for this gear, trying to make offers.  If you start seeing a bunch of random pairs showing up at any downtown LA consignment shops, you know where they most likely came from!

Vans_for_shopify_1024x1024

It’s been years since Vans and FTC have linked up, but they’re back at it again with these Slip-On Pro’s in some city-friendly colors.  The upper is constructed with a black suede material, while the side panel features black canvas, and the heel panel is wrapped in gold suede, featuring a debossed FTC OG logo.  The UltraCUSH footbed has a print of the Golden Gate Bridge, for that that final San Francisco tribute.  These are now available for $65 from FTC’s webshop.

Vans x Fear Of God x Pacsun – Era 95 Reissue (Released This Past Weekend)

fear-of-god-van-collaboration-rerelease-001

So this is a purposefully late post.  I didn’t want to add to any of the hysteria that was sure to ensue with this release, which proved itself to be one of the most wildly popular Vans releases of the year.  The hype was real, and to be expected, as Fear Of God has been this year’s trend setter, and with that came massive queue’s outside a few malls throughout the U.S.  These are the queue’s normally reserved for Jordan 1 and 11 releases, and it took a lot of mall security by storm, and there were stories of the usual fights, back-doored inventory, line cutters, and “not one person in line is wearing Vans” statements.  Whether they’re true or not, it’s these stories that add to the hype, and the insane $400 resell asking price.  I just wanted to acknowledge this release, and give props to Jerry Lorenzo for creating something that got people talking about it, and going crazy over it.

vans-london-undercover-collaboration-1

London Undercover launched in 2008 and has done plenty to reinvent the humble umbrella as a fashion accessory with past collaborations including those with BAPE and maharishi. Elevate your winter wardrobe by picking one up from £130 GBP (approximately $162 USD) at selected global Vans outlets and the London Undercover flagship store from October 24.”
