Vans Vault x Alyx – Collection 2 (7.22.17)

http _bae.hypebeast.com_files_2017_07_vans-vault-alyx-second-drop-og-sk8-hi-authentic-4

It appears that Vans Vault and Alyx are teaming up with a second collection, right off of the heels of their first collection.  This time, they chose a few new models, including an OG Sk8-Hi LX with a half-moon toe aka the Style 138, similar to the Gosha Rubchinskiy version, which will be available in all white, or all black with a white contrasting jazz stripe.  There’s also another blast from the past, by way of an Authentic LX convertible, allowing you to fold down the heel and step into them.  There’s also a Style 29 with the classic lug sole (not sure if they’re calling these a Style 29 or not).  This pack will be releasing at Stylebop, and we’re unsure about a wider release, but if you keep your ears to the street, I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.  Until then, enjoy some pics via Hypebae!

Vans ArcAd – Style 113 Pro USA ArcAd (7.8.17) #ArcAd

Style113ArcAd3

Vans Pro Skate commemorates its original American-made heritage with the Style 113 Pro USA ArcAd, the first Made in USA Vans performance skate shoe in over 20 years. Available to select Vans Pro Skate accounts worldwide and limited to 700 individually-numbered pairs (350 each color) on Saturday, July 8, the Style 113 Pro USA ArcAd is handcrafted using a combination of modern machinery and traditional craftwork to achieve a unique balance of heritage and evolution.

The Style 113 Pro USA ArcAd offers the quality and character that Vans’ handcrafted, USA-made shoes were known for with the following enhancements:

  • Vans Pro Skate UltraCush HD sockliners that include an anatomical heel cup and arch contour to provide the ultimate comfort and support.
  • Vans’ original Sidestripe stitched over an anatomically paneled, asymmetrical upper.
  • Designed with the highest quality suedes, leathers, and leather liners with construction specifically engineered to allow the shoe to stretch, form and flex, creating a more personalized fit with time and wear.
  • Utilizes a thicker, more durable sole with double-stitched heel and a molded “Off The Wall” heel scab.
  • A “Made in USA” woven label on the tongue, with Pro Skate ArcAd sequential numbering and a US manufactured stamp on the inside liner, completing each pair with its own individual mark.
  • Offered in white leather uppers with black outsoles or black leather with white outsoles. Both refined colorways are finished off with flat waxed canvas laces.

In honor of Vans’ original American-made footwear era beginning in 1966, Vans debuts the Style 113 Pro USA ArcAd on July 8 at select Vans Pro Skate accounts worldwide. To find out more information, visit Vans ArcAd.

My personal take:

The unofficially announced, rumored price is set at $270 a piece.  Very steep for a pair of Vans, but not the most expensive we’ve seen.  Yes, expensive for a shoe aimed at skaters, but then again skate is now high fashion!  Besides that, these are made in the USA.  Let me repeat…THESE VANS ARE MADE RIGHT HERE IN THE USA!!!  You asked for it, and now it’s here.  Our buddies over at Strictly Waffles said it best, when comparing them to any other shoe made here in the USA, which you’re easily looking at $200+ a pair, and $400+ for any good boot.  We sometimes spend more than that in a few weeks on multiple pairs.  Put your money where your mouth is, and support this awesome idea.  Hopefully we can see some classic silhouettes come out of this venture in the future.  This just opened up a bunch of new opportunities for Vans, and possibly to gain another edge on the competition.  Such an amazing time to be a part of the Vans community!!!

This summer, The General presents a brand new style, debuting a full nylon mesh upper for the classic Old Skool skate silhouette. Made exclusively for The General store in New York City, the new Mesh Old Skool LX is inspired by mid-century architectural forms and modern sports garment fabrications, traditional sports uniform palettes and mid-century graphics. The shoe has a modern, minimal feel in solid colors paired with true white outsoles. The pared back styling includes a flat, embroidered sidestripe, matching color sock liner and cotton webbing heel pull. The shoes come with a tracer cord lace, which combined with the nylon mesh material gives the shoes a light-weight and subtly technical feel reminiscent of classic summer sports.

Vans Vault x Stussy – Capsule Collection (6.24.17)

There are no two brands that epitomize Southern California street style more than Stüssy and Vans. It would make sense then that their relationship has been a long and fruitful one. Back when collaborations between companies were still a foreign concept to most, they unleashed their first joint creation, which is now highly coveted alongside all the other footwear they have since created. Where as in the past you might have seen more overt design motifs that signal Stussy or Vans, these shoes feel a bit more like a victory lap, a quiet celebration of the essential essence that makes each of these companies so special.

Each model is fabricated in premium leathers, 10 oz. Drill Canvas and Pig Skin, which combine to create a shoe that manages to look both tough and luxurious. The color palette is classic Stüssy, utilizing the dusty earth tones that have been a brand staple since they were first used in the iconic Beach Short way back in the 1980s. Leather waves of blue and rose intermingle with various shades of sand, creating shoes that look crafted by Mother Nature herself.

All of this is applied to Vans’ most beloved models, the OG Classic Slip-On LX, OG Old-Skool LX, and the OG Chukka LX in two varieties each. Each pair also boasts a classic checkered insole as well as a Stussy International branded stripe above the outer sole of each shoe. Truly this collaboration is a coup in the arena of classic design, it is impossible to think of any era in either the past or future where this group of footwear wouldn’t fit in beautifully with a range of personal styles.

The Stüssy Vans Collaboration will be available at all Stüssy Chapter Stores and stussy.com on Friday, June 23rd.

Vans Vault x Engineered Garments – OG Classic Slip-On LX (Sold Out)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_06_engineered-garments-vans-classic-slip-on-2

Sorry for the late info on this one, but these have pretty much sold out as of today, when Nepenthes opened up phone orders.

Engineered Garments got together with Vans Vault again, to bring back their wildly popular mis-matched OG Classic Slip-On LXs.  This time, they went tonal.  Full tonal.  Totally tonal.  Moonrock, Olive Green, and Black tonal.  They’re minimal.  They’re simple.  They’re absolutely beautiful!  We hardly see EG Slips go up for resale, so if you’re on the hunt, then don’t think twice about clicking that “buy it now” button.

Vans Vault x Brain Dead – Capsule Collection (6.24.17)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_06_vault-by-vans-brain-dead-collection-interview-kyle-ng-010

This summer, Vault by Vans collaborates with Brain Dead, a creative collective of artists, musicians and designers from all over the world, to create a nine-piece capsule collection inspired by the spirit of subculture. The collection presents unique iterations of Vans classic footwear, apparel and accessories in faded shades of pink, green and yellow with custom hieroglyphic designs.

Founded by Kyle Ng and Ed Davis, Brain Dead has quickly emerged into the coveted upper echelon of streetwear fashion, describing itself as “not one person, nor is it one idea; it sits in the space between people.” This mentality is prominent throughout the collection, emphasizing a disruptive aesthetic across Vans classics that feature symbolic post-punk references, underground comics and skateboarding subcultures.

The Vault by Vans x Brain Dead collection features three deluxe versions of Vans’ iconic footwear silhouettes including the Old Skool LX in green, Era LX in pink and Classic Slip-On LX in yellow. All footwear styles utilize bold colors and strong graphics, as well as Brain Dead’s kitschy often satirical pictograms in high contrast black, printed on the quarter panels, sidewalls and custom footbed. Bold subcultural micro-graphics drive the visual approach, speaking to inspiration from the post-punk world.

For the apparel component, Vault by Vans x Brain Dead introduce a short-sleeved woven button-down in two colorways, pink and green, tying back to the black graphic details on the footwear, as well as two cotton t-shirts featuring Brain Dead’s signature logo. Completing the collection, Vault by Vans x Brain Dead introduce a simple unstructured black cap and canvas tote bag.

The Vault by Vans x Brain Dead collection retails from $43 to $138 USD and launches globally on June 24, 2017 at select Vault accounts.

Check out this interview with Brain Dead’s Kyle Ng over on Hypebeast.

Vans x Alltimers – Old Skool Sport Pro (6.24.17)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_06_Vans-x-AllTimers-01

Words via Vans:

This summer, two influential brands in skateboarding, Vans and Alltimers, come together to debut the latest evolution of the Old Skool, to introduce the all-new Old Skool Sport Pro. The highly-anticipated Vans Pro Skate collaboration honors Vans and Alltimers’ light-hearted and irreverent brand personas, taking the skateboarding staple into the VIP Lounge with an all mesh execution, accented with cotton webbing and reflective binding.

Immortalized in skateboarding culture as a truly unconventional and not-so-serious luxury skate brand, Alltimers launched in 2013 with a collection of uniquely-shaped skateboards, premium apparel and accessories. Inspired by pop culture iconography, Alltimers’ design philosophy mixes high and low, achieving their own signature look and feel, amplified by their eccentric and often humorous marketing approach.

For their Vans capsule, Alltimers created an out of this world narrative, where aliens have taken over the planet. With the survival of mankind in their hands, Alltimers present a space-age Vans Old Skool Sport Pro design, with direct influence taken from aliens with giant lasers attacking the masses.
Available at select Vans Pro Skate retailers worldwide and Alltimers on Saturday, June 24, the new Vans Old Skool Sport Pro capsule by Alltimers features:

Full mesh uppers
Full mesh linings
Lateral Duracap underlays for durability
Custom ghillie lacing system sandwiched between the mesh
Custom Webbing Tongue and heel pulls
Reflective binding detail
Vans Ultracush HD footbeds w/ custom artwork
