Vault By Vans x Blends x Born Free – Old Skool LX (10.3.20)

2

SoCal mainstays Blends and Vans Vault link up with motorcycle show Born Free to rework the classic Old Skool LX.

Taking cues from their previous collaborations, inspired by American motorcycle culture, the shoe features a red, white and blue Jazz Stripe that sits on a sturdy leather upper and is complimented with a suede toe box and back heel panel.  Waxed flat tonal cotton laces, and a classic white sole finish this clean design.  We were completely surprised to find out about this release, being that last year’s pair didn’t happen.  Usually a few of our friends and I would plan out a weekend for the Born Free show, and make our way to Irvine Lake to check out all of the awesome builds, but let’s be honest, we’re mostly there for the Blends Vans.  These are a thing of beauty, and I hope everybody who wants these, gets them without too much hassle.  Things are a little bit different this year, so it looks like we’ll be resorting to online only for these, so good luck!

Look for this shoe to be available on the Blends website on October 3rd.  Pricing TBD.

Vault By Vans – Cut and Paste Collection (Sep 2020)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_09_vault-by-vans-cut-and-paste-pack-release-info-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vault By Vans has mashed more than half a dozen classic Vans silhouettes together for a new “Cut and Paste” pack. Using pieces of the Sk8-Hi, Old Skool, Era, Authentic, Half Cab, Slip-On, Rowley and MTE line, the pack’s finished products — dubbed the Cap Mash Hi and Cap Mash Lo — look like high-concept DIY experiments come to life or a “sneaker collage.” However, under the artfully jumbled build lies a clever concept and a key attention to detail.

The Cap Mash Hi offer an above-ankle upper that’s equal parts Sk8-Hi and Half Cab, with the forefoot dressed in an Authentic-style shape. Meanwhile, the Cap Mash Lo uses an Old Skool as the base and works in Era-adjacent details. Midsoles on both pairs mix multiple toolings, and lugged outsoles appear to pull from the MTE line. Each also supplies a duo of layered tongue options, ranging from the Rowley to the Sk8-Hi and more”.

Vans Opens Very First Asia Boutique in TX Huaihai, Shanghai

vans-boutique-store-asia-shanghai-tx-huaihai-vans-huai-hi-info-07

Special shout-out to our boy Eason He, and his awesome Vans x WTAPS collection he let them use for the huge WTAPS display!  It came out awesome.  Now, how do we get that neon crossbones sign?!

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans has just opened the doors to its first boutique in Asia. The space is in Shanghai’s TX Huaihai, a new retail complex that aims to bridge the worlds of art and fashion.

Located on the ground floor, the shop will include a run of Vans’ mainline, in addition to the footwear label’s pro skateboard series, Anaheim line and Vault by Vans collections. Apart from the wide selection of footwear offerings, the store was also made as a communal event space for art, live music and skateboarding. The space is walled by wood and concrete for a warm ambiance. Vans commissioned artist Sinic Choy to decorate the wall behind the cashier with an expressive sequence of Chinese calligraphy that integrates elements of Western-style graffiti — a custom LED chandelier above the counter mirrors this style. Other parts of the store like the changing room, a display of pro skater Hyunjun Koo’s deck collection and a music station complete the new space”.

Vault By Vans x Concepts – Worlds End Pack pt.2 (9.24.20)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_09_concepts-vault-by-vans-sk8-hi-slip-on-worlds-end-release-date-info-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“Concepts and Vault by Vans have joined forces for a punk-inspired “World’s End” collection. Made up of a Sk8-Hi and a Slip-On with wild prints and fuzzy textures that draw from Vivienne Westwood‘s legendary mohair sweaters — and a name inspired by a boutique Westwood ran with her long-time partner, Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McClaren — the shoes are a colorful homage to London’s irreverent fashion and music scenes.

Shaggy mohair covers the entirety of each upper, but is applied in divergent fashion. The Sk8-Hi uses pink, purple and red for a colorful look, while the Slip-On is swathed in punk-approved black and white stripes. Each features special branded tags, and the Sk8-Hi is finalized by simple white midsoles and Jazz Stripes. Meanwhile, the Slip-On goes for high-gloss black midsoles and special striped detailing that matches the upper under its translucent outsole. Both shoes are accompanied by special apparel, namely an “Up Yours” tee and a crewneck sweatshirt”.

The Concepts x Vault by Vans “World’s End” collection is to release on the Concepts webstore September 24. Retail prices have yet to be announced

Vault By Vans x Needles – Animal Print Pack (Already Released!)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_09_needles-vault-by-vans-slip-on-zebra-leopard-release-001

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans and NEEDLES have reunited for three new renditions of Slip-Ons. Marking the second collaboration since 2018, a trio of luxe velvet-tinged iterations, the two labels have opted for bold animal prints for this release.

Set in colorways of bronze, white and black, the shoes feature zebra and leopard prints on one foot each, for a subtle asymmetrical look. Each pair comes with contrasting metallic embellishments of loops and tassels that hang from the upper forefoot, mirroring the designs of traditional loafers. Tonal top-stitching has been given to all three pairs, seen on the sleek leather piping that run along the edges of their tongues. To round off the designs, the shoes get vulcanized midsoles, co-branded insoles and Vans’ classic waffled outsoles for added comfort and support”.

The NEEDLES x Vans Slip-Ons will be available on September 12 on NEEDLES’ website for $122 USD.

Vans x Rhude – Embroidered Bandana Pack (Already Released!)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_09_rhude-vans-acer-ni-diamo-suede-canvas-bandana-embroidered-collaboration-release-info-5

Info via Hypebeast:

“Rhuigi Villaseñor‘s Los Angeles-based imprint RHUDE has teamed up with Vans once again, this time around reworking the SoCal stalwart’s Diamo and Acer Ni sneakers.

The collaboration offers two incredibly intricate and playful looks, with the Diamo and Acer Ni both sporting an all-over embroidered bandana finish. However, where the Acer Ni sports a patchwork colorway made up of red, orange, yellow, purple, blue, and green suede, the Diamo comes in a more laid-back off white-hue and is made from traditional canvas.

RHUDE’s idea for the undyed Diamo is for wearers to customize their pair by themselves, adding plenty of color from the whole spectrum in any manner they desire. The synthetic thread that creates the bandana pattern won’t be dyed, and therefore will stand out against any colors you may wish to add to your otherwise plain sneaker.

However, the suede Acer Ni is already completely made-up for you. It even continues the color onto its classic off white sole unit, where a yellow license plate now appears. There’s also a set of RHUDE-branded laces for those wanting to liven the Acer Ni up even more.

The RHUDE x Vans Acer Ni and Diamo sneakers are set to release at retailers on September 12 at 9 a.m. EST.”

Two-part series debuts with Salvador Dalí, Vasily Kandinsky and Claude Monet followed by a second artist release this November

Vans, the original action sports brand and advocate for creative expression, is proud to announce its upcoming collaboration with one of the world’s foremost museums devoted to modern and contemporary art, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). With a shared passion for inspiring individual expression around the world, Vans and MoMA have come together to debut a series of special edition products this fall. The artists featured reflect the diversity of MoMA’s collection with artworks by Salvador Dalí, Vasily Kandinsky, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Jackson Pollock, Lybov Popova and Faith Ringgold.

The first release of footwear, apparel and accessories will launch worldwide Sept. 30, followed by another installment in November. Both feature art represented in the museum’s collection, chosen by Vans in collaboration with MoMA. Each product was designed with careful consideration and a deep appreciation of the art, translated on Vans Classic styles.

“MoMA is excited to finally reveal the Vans collaboration as they, too, have a rich legacy of supporting artistic expression,” says Robin Sayetta, Associate Director of Licensing and Partnerships at MoMA. “We pursue a limited number of product collaborations and our goal is always to engage a broader audience with modern art.
