Info via PALACE:
“Basically, some Old Skools” according to PALACE…and I think they couldn’t have said anymore about these lol. Well, technically, there are subtle things to point out, that might interest some of us Vans snobs. There is a large PALACE logo on the heel panel. Custom PALACE heel scabs aka “license plate”, and the Vans flag is located on the lace eyerow, which is a throwback to the 90’s version of the Old Skool.
They’re going to be available in 3 classic icon colorways, Black, STV Navy, and White. No release date or pricing just yet, so keep your ears to the street.

We’re back y’all. Episode 26. Some of us are getting over a little bug. Some are feeling a little bit tired. Some are trying to figure out if we should put away our winter gear yet, but all in all, we’re all in great spirits. We know you’re dying to know our drinks for the night. Bill chose an Amigo Lager by Port Brewing tonight. Joe had a Disaronno & Coke, and Ed had a Sweet Tea Bang.
It was a great weekend for NFL football. Joe’s happy to not see Tom Brady advance to the conference championship. He’s also hoping to see the Rams beat the 49ers next Sunday, to further prove his opinion (not fact, according to Bill), of how bad the Chargers are, lol.
The only Vans release info for this week, is the Vault x Notre (which fyi, is pronounced “no-truh”) OG Style 36 LX. One of our favorite models, featuring 3 colorways, espresso, matcha, and tea. All unique bangers. Praying to the Vans Gods that we can all secure the ones we want. Notre is crazy hype right now. We also dabble a bit into the world of New Balance sneakers, which led to talking about other made in the USA sneakers and shoes in general.
Our main topic of discussion this week, centered around symbolism in Vans over the years, and just an open discussion about cultural appropriation in design inspiration, or controversial imagery and logos, that although most likely didn’t have any ill intent, but obviously have all but disappeared in designs as of recently. The OG Hosoi Sk8-Hi’s, featuring the Rising Sun graphic, are the first that come to mind. A logo synonymous with Christian Hosoi, seen across all of his decks in the 80’s, paying homage to his heritage, the best way he knew how. Perhaps with a little bit of welcomed controversy. Times were obviously different. Moving on to more current examples, we’ve noticed major changes in Taka Hayashi’s aesthetic. Gone are the Native American inspired designs, which are arguably some of his best work. Perhaps it was his evolution as an artist. Maybe the style was getting tired. Who knows, but it was the right time to switch it up. Wes Lang was also slated to have a collection with Vault in 2020, but the Native American imagery, as well as a questionable graphic tee he made for Vans in the past, resurfaced, and we believe that may have played a part in the decision to cancel the release. Sample pairs are floating around out there, and pics are online if you’re curious. A few other examples are also discussed.
We’re waiting to see what the Stussy Air Penny 2 will look like, which led to a little bit of Penny Hardaway talk, mainly around his current college coaching career. He’s not afraid to tell people what they need to hear! We close out tonight, giving a shout-out to Neil Young and Joe Rogan!
You can drop in for the live Twitch stream, every Tuesday (10PM CDT / 8PM PDT), or on our Youtube channel. Audio formats can be found on Apple podcasts, Spotify, and Anchor.

Vault by Vans and Notre return with their newest collaboration, this time releasing three colorways of the OG Style 36 LX. This will be the third collaboration between the brands. Staying true to form, the shoes feature Notre’s now-iconic handshake spin on the Vans jazz stripe, varying premium materials, and subtle color differences across the OG Style 36 LX silhouette.
The Vault by Vans x Notre OG Style 36 LX Collection will include three playful tonal colorways referencing popular cafe drinks — espresso, matcha, and tea. Each colorway arrives in a color-matched box once again bearing Notre’s motto, “There are many ways of doing things besides your own.”
The project aims to highlight the unique but familiar ways in which individuals choose to enjoy their favorite cafe drinks, and hope to shed light on the little things that connect us all “because we believe that everything is best served together.”
The Vault by Vans x Notre OG Style 36 LX will retail for $90 and will be available through Notre’s online store and Chicago location on February 3rd, as well as with retailers Union LA and DSM.

In 1992, skaters created the world’s greatest skate shoe with just scissors and duct tape. They cut down their shoes to make something that could push skateboarding the way they wanted to, and the Half Cab was born. Three decades later, skaters are still pushing forward. Introducing the Skate Half Cab ’92, a new build on a skate classic.
Completely redesigned with skaters in mind, the Skate Classics Half Cab ’92 delivers more of what skaters need to enable maximum progression. The new sidewall finish, checkerboard flag, and “Skateboarding” branding are some of subtle differences to enhance this iconic style. The fully revised upper with molded heel counter, locked-in tongue straps, and a recut of the DURACAP™ underlay offers an essential fit that is more breathable and durable where skaters need it most.
The two-part foxing, featuring a tougher toe knurl, ensures heightened board contact, and the redesigned gum rubber sole that made Vans famous has been made even better with SickStick™ rubber compound and an internal heel shank to deliver more grip, more boardfeel, more support, and more durability. Uppers made from 100% pig leather round out the upgraded design.
The Skate Half Cab ’92 gives the look you want, with the performance benefits real skaters demand. Because skate classics are made for skateboarding.
INCREASED DURABILITY – DURACAP™ reinforced materials, deeper knurl texture on the toe bumpers, and higher sidewall heights provide a more heritage look with increased durability and protection.
FULLY REDESIGNED UPPERS – Reconstructed with a molded heel counter and internal tongue straps for a locked-in fit and more board control.
LEGENDARY GRIP – Our new, proprietary SickStickTM gum rubber compound is our stickiest rubber yet.
POPCUSH CUSHIONING – Our best cushioning and impact protection. POPCUSH™ energy return footbeds protect your feet while helping to lessen leg fatigue for longer skate sessions.
(I’m going to start posting our episodes up on here as well, so sorry in advance! -Bill)
We are back from our Winter break! Refreshed, and ready to get back on our bullshit for 2022. Everyone had a nice time off. Joe went to the Chargers v Raiders game in Vegas. Eddie enjoyed getting a cold. Bill didn’t get too much done, and just hung out with the fam.
After our quick drink intros, we got into a little bit of current events, which included volcano eruptions, tsunami warnings, and the Omarion variant, jk. Eddie wants to find a place to travel to soon, possibly SoCal, so we’ll see.
Current Vans releases include the CDG White OG Old Skools, the Year of the Tiger pack that was designed by Chinese artist Huatunan. The Sandy Liang pack is coming soon, and it’s dope. Vault is dropping a Taka Amazon Trail Low, and Sneeze mag has a trio of Skate Chukkas for us, this Friday.
If you didn’t know by now, we’re the non-experts of NFTs. If you still feel like they’re scammy, and ridiculous, and a money grab, then you’re in the right place. Well, one of our respected institutions of streetwear culture, All Gone Book by Michael Dupuoy “LAMJC”, has decided to feature BAYC “Bored Ape Yacht Club” on the cover of the 2021 edition. Bill took out his collection of All Gone books, going back to 2007, up to 2014, where he decided to stop, because he’s a completist and could never get his hands on the inaugural 2006 book. Anyways, needless to say, we’re a little disappointed with the 2021 book. That led into an entire tangent about NFT’s, the Wal-Mart shopping metaverse, and our comparison of all this stuff, to the Chuck E. Cheese business model. Also, shouts to Bobby Hundreds’ IG stories last week for giving us some ammo.
Lastly, just a little hot VF Corp. gossip. They will be terminating all unvaccinated employees by Jan. 31st, so we wish all of those well, who are deciding to put their bodies before their job. It’s a personal choice, and we respect that.

Mr. SNEEZE, editor-intern-chief of SNEEZE Magazine — the bicoastal, cross-border, large-format, skateboard-culture publication that low-key victoriously surpassed its 50th issue last fall — has coerced Vans Skateboarding into producing a suede Skate Chukka in three no-muss, no-fuss colors. Declared “the shoe for ’22” by Mr. SNEEZE himself, it’s meant to be “skated and destroyed” as any Chukka should. This attitude was drilled even further into the shoe through subtle design tweaks, such as fatter laces, a heavy-duty heel pull, and the most stompy chunky outsole possible. All in all, it’s very kick-in-the-door, very “off the wall.”
The Vans Skateboarding x Sneeze Magazine Skate Chukka will be sold exclusively via Sneeze Magazine and at the Dime Store in Montreal, Canada, on January 21, at noon E.S.T

This spring, Vans reunites with Lower East Side, NY designer Sandy Liang for a third footwear and apparel collaboration. Inspired by the ‘90s and childhood nostalgia, Sandy Liang has once again placed her signature stamp on some of Vans’ most iconic footwear and apparel pieces. Looking to elevate beloved styles, this head-to-toe collection reflects the designer’s deeply personal connection to New York City. The Vans x Sandy Liang collection will be available globally beginning January 28, 2022.
With passions spanning fashion, film, architecture and concept design, Sandy Liang personifies the creative expression that is synonymous with Vans. Sandy uses grandma fashion, sport femme, nostalgia, and humor as her guiding design principles for the footwear and apparel assortment. This season’s footwear lineup features four Classic footwear styles. The Sk8-Hi Platform 2.0 showcases a delicate, all-over rose embroidered canvas upper while the Style 73 DX takes retro inspiration of the Sidestripe and a floral embroidery on one side of the uppers and “Lower East Side Lover” on the other side. Vans’ original deck shoe, the Authentic 44 DX receives multi-colored gingham fabric makeover and a lace collar and a detachable pouch on the tongue. Sandy Liang helps Vans to debut a brand-new silhouette, the Sk8-Hi Tapered Modular, a hi-top with a deconstructed slim collar that has novelty lace trim and a removable outsole unit so that the style can be transformed to be worn with or without the outsole.
Key looks from the apparel assortment include the Vans x Sandy Liang Chore Coat in cotton canvas with all-over embroidery, patch pockets, and a corduroy collar for a new take on a workwear staple. The Vans x Sandy Liang Hoodie is a heavy weight, French terry with a relaxed fit and custom screen-printed details that pairs perfectly with the Authentic Chino, a twill pant that has been updated to include novelty embroidery at the back pocket, interior waistband and at the bottom of the leg cuff so it can peek out when the pants are rolled up. Accessories like the Vans x Sandy Liang bucket hat in cotton canvas with daisy embroidery around the brim, the Vans x Sandy Liang crossbody bag uses nylon and is the perfect companion to carry your water bottle while you’re on the go. Sandy Liang brought her quintessential fleece design to the Vans collection with an all-over printed Sherpa mock neck jacket along with a matching Sherpa crossbody that has the multi-color floral and butterfly Sherpa on one side and a quilted nylon back panel on the other.
Sandy opted for intentionally ironic graphics for both footwear and apparel. The Authentic 44 DX is a digitally printed replica of a shoe that Sandy customized herself with scribbles of happy butterflies that carry through to a matching short sleeve tee, pullover and crossbody bag. The beloved Half Cab 33 DX has been transformed with green Sherpa uppers and a custom flower eyelet.
The Vans Sandy Liang Collection will be available beginning January 28, 2022, at select Vans retailers, Vans.com and SandyLiang.com. For more information, and where to purchase, please visit The Drop List, a calendar of Vans’ most exclusive product drops.

Over the course of the last decade, Vans has worked with STOKED to introduce underserved BIPOC youth to the activities, lifestyle and career opportunities provided by action sports, and the partnership will expand even further in 2022.
Founded by entrepreneur Steve Larosiliere and action sports personality Selema Masekela, STOKED is a community-focused nonprofit that combines one-on-one mentorship with the joy (and adrenaline) of action sports to help underserved BIPOC youth realize their potential. Vans is a longtime supporter of STOKED’s message of inclusion and community-first methods, serving as a proud partner and supporter of the organization for over 10 years. In 2022, the Vans x STOKED partnership will expand even further.
Based in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, STOKED has worked with over 6,000 kids and 4,000 mentors since its founding, using action sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing as “safe spaces” for learning and personal growth. Kids who go through a STOKED program learn more than how to kickflip or catch a wave — they’re taught career skills, life lessons, and the importance of staying active as well.
![]()
The latest chapter in Vans’ partnership with STOKED aims to achieve two main goals: growing BIPOC participation and representation in action sports and providing STOKED participants with access, resources, and educational programming. To achieve these goals, Vans is sponsoring skate activations at STOKED’s NYC and Chicago sites, supporting STOKED’s after-school leadership development programs and weekend skateboarding/snowboarding/surfing programs, and encouraging its employees to serve as STOKED mentors through a dynamic “Career Pipeline” program that shows STOKED youth some of the career possibilities in the action sports world.
![]()
Almost 30 Vans employees have already signed on to the “Career Pipeline” program, and Vans athletes have lent their support to STOKED as well — pro snowboarder Patrick Moore is a lead STOKED ambassador who’s recruited other Vans Snow team members like Jill Perkins, Bryan Iguchi, and Hana Beaman, which helped STOKED raise an additional $100K through its yearly fundraising campaign in 2021. STOKED also supports Vans by leading DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) efforts with Vans staff and the greater action sports industry through employee and athlete workshops.

“Vans, the original action sports brand and global icon of creative self-expression, partners with Chinese renowned artist Chen Yingjie (a.k.a HuaTunan) to create a festive collaboration celebrating the upcoming Year of the Tiger.
Inspired by his famous artwork “Stay Hungry”, Chen Yingjie related Vans’ capsule with his interpretation of the tiger spirit – exploration, adventure and perseverance, and connected with Vans’ “Off the Wall” spirit. With the “Stay Hungry” series as the design origin, Chen Yingjie combined urban streets with natural elements, showcasing through the splashed ink, oracle bone inscriptions and modern city street signs over Vans’ classic silhouettes.
The Vans x HUATUNAN Year of the Tiger collection covers Vans’ iconic silhouettes including the Authentic, the Sk8-Hi and the Old Skool together with the finest selection of apparel items. The Authentic carries signature street ink graphics with transparent outsole to present the vivid style of tiger; The Sk8-Hi Echo DX reinterprets the classic Sk8-Hi with more details added to the silhouette, presenting a living tiger in the wildlife. The Old Skool is presented in two styles – the first pair applies black suede over the shoe upper, matching with the pattern hand drawn by Chen Yingjie. The second pair of Old Skool features the signature ink paint and the “Stay Hungry” slogan.
Vans and Chen Yingjie also brings a full set of apparel into the collection, including a long-sleeve t-shirt and a workwear jacket.”
Available now via Limited Edt, but will be dropping in the US at select Vans stores listed on the Drop List.
