Vault By Vans x Blends – OG Style 36 LX “Magic Tape Pack” Bones (Spring/Summer 2022)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2022_05_blends-vault-by-vans-og-style-36-lx-magic-tape-pack-release-date-1

Info via Hypebeast

Blends and Vault by Vans have a rich collaborative history of working together on footwear, and this season the two entities are reuniting for a brand new collection. This oft-seen SoCal link-up is gearing up for expansion with a trio of OG Style 36 LX colorways, all of which have been named under the Blends x Vault by Vans OG Style 36 LX “Magic Tape” Pack. The “Magic Tape” nickname is has an element of duality to it as it nods to the streetwear retailer’s Japanese heritage and how Velcro is often called “magic tape” in Japan.

After initially unveiling the “Black” colorway, Blends has given HYPEBEAST the first detailed look at the entire assemblage. Dropping alongside the “Black” iteration are “Marshmallow” and “Green” installments and each arrives with a customizable component. Overlays that are present atop the base layers of each variation have been materialized with velcro and that is so you can mix and match the various velco-backed bone stripes that come packaged with the sneakers. This capsule marks the first time that the duo has included this design feature.

The collection will roll out via BLENDS’ online store and retail locations from late May to early July, with the “Black” pair dropping on May 28, the “Marshmallow” pair releasing on June 17 and the green pair hitting the shelves on July 2.

Vault by Vans x Adsum – Collection (6.11.22)

adsum-vans-era-1

Poppy is Adsum’s office dog. She occupies our time, our mind, and our hearts and found herself at the center of the creative direction of Adsum’s first global collaboration with Vault by Vans; a brand we all love and respect. Despite the early mornings and extra vigilance she requires, it’s no question why dogs are regarded as Man’s Best Friend. As an ode to our sweet but stubborn friend Poppy, we created a pair of shoes made for morning and evening walks around Brooklyn. Van’s Best Friend.

Started in 1966 as the Van Doren Rubber Company, Vans began operations as a vulcanized deck shoe company and had banners outside its office saying that they sold tennis shoes. A few years down the line in 1976 they designed and released the #95 also known as the “Era” model which featured a padded collar to help protect skateboarders’ ankles. The #98 “Slip-On” model followed soon after in 1977. Vans epitomizes west coast surf and skate shoe style, but it has transcended the streets of Anaheim, CA to become one of the most recognizable and loved shoe brands in the world. Vault by Vans, the brands pinnacle expression of product celebrates the brands history and legacy of craft by elevating iconic designs through choice materials and meticulous attention to detail.

For Adsum’s first collaboration with Vault by Vans, we picked our favorite OG models and tried to offer two wearable summer colorways. Dark Green on the OG Slip On LX and a natural/stone combination on the OG Era LX. Both models feature an 8 oz. organic cotton canvas upper with a small rear section of 1.6 mm thick chrome free suede. Poke around on the inside of the shoe and you’ll find terracotta-colored plush terrycloth insoles and green internal binding. Special to all Vault by Vans silhouettes, the Adsum OG Era LX and OG Slip-On LX have a high shine finish foxing and vintage style tab label. Our label hides Adsum’s logotype on the flip side of the Vans branding hit. Each left shoe has a sketch of our friend Poppy holding a shoe, something that brings her comfort anytime we have a visitor by the office.

The Adsum x Vault by Vans collection is available exclusively at www.adusmnyc.com on Tuesday, June 7th at 11AM EST and will be available through select global retailers beginning June 11th. For more information, please visit www.adsumnyc.com or www.vans.com/droplist.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon x Lizzie Armanto – Collection (6.10.22)

Vans Teams up with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and Lizzie Armanto on a New Collection Highlighting Empowerment and Inclusivity
A modern-day love letter to the series beloved by millions and one of today’s most respected skater

thumbnail_image003

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, is proud to announce the Vans x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Collection by Lizzie Armanto. Inspired by the pioneering show and skater, the newest collection between Vans and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a joyful yet gritty love letter for fans to wear on their sleeve. The collection of footwear, apparel and accessories evokes a DIY-approach with an old-school feel, led by Vans’ new performance-driven silhouette, The Lizzie— the first Vans signature skateboarding shoe designed by a woman in 20 years. Available on June 10, 2022, the Vans x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon by Lizzie Armanto collection is part of a broader Vans x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon capsule.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a shojo manga written by Naoko Takeuchi, which began serializing in 1991 in the monthly magazine Nakayosi (published by Kodansha). The original book has been translated into 17 languages and the animated series produced by Toei Animation has been developed in more than 40 countries causing social phenomena in Japan and throughout the world. Vans has teamed up with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon in a collection that reflects the same resiliency and inclusive spirit seen today in Vans’ team rider Lizzie Armanto.

The footwear range offers three Vans Skate Classics styles adorned with black and white graphic collages depicting Sailor Moon and Sailor Guardians. The Skate Old Skool and Skate Slip-On combine heritage styling and a punk inspired theme.

The crown jewel of the footwear collection, The Lizzie is given the full Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon treatment. Created to provide something else entirely for a wider range of skateboarders whose needs are not being met, The Lizzie features a new vulcanized construction with a lower profile sidewall foxing tape, an exposed radiused outsole edge, and flex grooves for a stable, broken-in feel. The universal fit features the perfect amount of EcoCush™ cushioning, increasing boardfeel for a wider range of skaters. A new 3D Embossed DURACAP™ toe and Sidestripe has even more durability in high-wear areas, while an all-new micro-waffle tread and Sick-Stick™ rubber offers maximum grip.

Carrying over to an apparel offering, the Vans x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Collection by Lizzie Armanto features a similar aesthetic in black-and-white tones across a BFF-fit hoodie with anime illustrations on the front and Checkerboard detailing on the sleeves, and a reversible bucket hat with a Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon logo patch on a solid black colorway, and Checkerboard detailing and Vans logo patch on the reverse side.

A true embodiment of Vans’ DNA, Lizzie Armanto is an icon of originality and positivity. With her down-to-earth, fashion-forward, barrier-breaking approach, it’s no wonder Lizzie has become a role model to skateboarders around the world. Moving to Santa Monica at age 14, Lizzie quickly became a fixture at local skate park The Cove. While she spent every day refining her skateboarding skills, she never imagined it as a career for herself. It is perhaps this humble attitude along with her unrelenting drive that has paved the way for the iconic milestones she’s achieved today. From being the first female to complete Tony Hawk’s 360 Loop, to gracing the covers of TransWorld Skateboarding and Thrasher, and recently competing on the world stage at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Lizzie is setting the tone for a revolution the skateboarding world’s been waiting for.

The Vans x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Collection by Lizzie Armanto will be available beginning June 10, 2022, at Vans retail locations and at vans.com.

SS22-FLATS2036_1200x

Noah is back with another great collaboration with our highly beloved Vans Vault, this time choosing the OG Classic Slip-On LX in a trio of mature, clean and simple color combinations, perfect for the Summer.  Coming at you in Navy/Red; Tan/Brown, and Kelly/Dark Forest, each pair sits atop a white vulcanized sole with a black foxing stripe.  It wouldn’t be an official collab without some sort of NOAH branding, which you can find on the inside heel pad, as well as a debossed one on the side of the rear heel panel.

These dropped this morning on the NOAH site for $98, and have almost completely sold out.

Vault By Vans x Imran Potato – Collection (5.21.22)

imran-potato-vans-13

Words via Modern Notoriety:

“Imran Potato has made a name for himself with his wacky approach to fashion. The streetwear designer is now collaborating with Vault by Vans, bringing his sense of humor and eccentricity to a six-piece collection.

The collaborative collection features the return of the Vans KNU SKOOL. The skate shoe first released in the late ’90s and featured a puffy, oversized design, as did many skate shoes of the era. The KNU SKOOL was re-released in 2015 exclusively via Vans Japan, making this release the first global re-introduction to the silhouette.

Imran’s version of the KNU SKOOL comes in three all-suede colorways: brown cheetah print, asphalt/black cheetah print, and classic black/white. Imran takes the KNU SKOOL’s oversized DNA and further exaggerates the design by adding an overstuffed tongue and thick cotton laces. The model’s signature 3D sidestripe protrudes from the quarter panels, while underfoot is custom-printed Potato waffle soles.

“The KNU SKOOL is the best sneaker silhouette of all time. It’s the shoe I always wanted but couldn’t get because of its mystery—the ultimate unattainable eBay shoe,” says Imran. “The Vault team literally opened the vault for me, and I can’t thank them enough for that. This collaboration is a dream come true, and my most important work to date.”

The collection also features three colorways of the Potato x Vans SK8-HI. All three are adorned with oversized hand doodles that grip the side panels of the shoe. Both the KNU SKOOL and SK8-HI are part of Vans VR3, representing the brands journey towards 100% regenerative, responsibly sourced renewable and recycled materials for the brands top four materials by 2030. Sustainable elements such as a footbed derived partially from sugarcane and EcoWaffle rubber outsoles are implemented with the intention of reducing impacts on the planet.”

The Imran Potato x Vans Vault KNU SKOOL VR3 LX & SK8-HI VR3 LX launch on May 18th at 5pm ET on imranpotato.com. The collection will also be available at select Vault by Vans retailers beginning May 21st. Check out all six styles and the campaign imagery below.

Vans Skate x Boys of Summer Collection 2 (5.12.22)

SP22_Skate_BoysofSummer_LineUp

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Vans has teamed up with Boys of Summer once again on a footwear collection that’s dedicated to the BOS crew and keeping skateboarding fun.

The collection marks Vans and Boys of Summer’s second time partnering and is a testament to the authentic relationships they’ve forged. Recognized for their lighthearted, nostalgic videos that capture the true spirit of skateboarding, the BOS crew leads this collection with a tribute to their own—including Atiba Jefferson, Anthony Van Engelen, and Tino Razo—while also nodding to close friends in the skate community.

Resurrecting some of Vans’ most iconic styles from the ’90s, Boys of Summer provides a fresh take on the Skate MC, the AVE Classic, and the SK8-Hi®. Each shoe in the Vans x Boys of Summer collection is a shared style, with one skater’s name on the left shoe and a friend’s name included on the right. The names appear across the heel counter and the tongue.

The Skate MC in black was designed by BOS’ Atiba Jefferson alongside his twin brother and Vans Art Director Ako Jefferson. For the Ave Classic, none other than Vans’ Anthony Van Engelen teamed up with friend and skate legend Eric Dressen. Finally, BOS’ Tino Razo and Cody Simmons share real estate on the two-tone Sk8-Hi complete with custom Vans Checkerboard woven labels. Each silhouette sits on translucent outsoles with Boys of Summer printed in cursive in bright hits of red and blue.

Boys of Summer aims to encapsulate the essence of skateboarding, reminding its audience not to take themselves too seriously. Half a decade ago, Supreme’s Jeff Kutter unveiled a surprise video project to the world, simply titled “Boys of Summer,” and featuring some of skateboarding’s upper echelon. The Boys’ crew includes several top Vans skaters including Rowan Zorilla, AVE, Elijah Berle, Andrew Allen, Beatrice Domond, Ben Kadow, and Diego Todd.

(There’s also a surprise BOS website exclusive Skate Sk8-Hi, done up in all black, with white and translucent vulcanized foxing and waffle soles, with a black toe bumper.  This pair is shared by DEFCON1 himself, Berto and Weirdo Dave, who we’ve recently seen collab with Supreme, but who also has had a Vans Syndicate shoe of his own.  Not surprisingly though, this pair is sold out and unavailable.)
