“Vans’ Syndicate project teams up with veteran skate retailer Kasina for a limited take on the Authentic and Old Skool. Home to collaborations with Odd Future, Ice T and Carhartt WIP among others, the Syndicate project makes product exclusively for select independent skate retailers, and this collaboration with Kasina marks a first Korean project for the brand. A chain pattern is featured alongside the store’s trademark Coral color, with both pairs coming with an accompanying chain-patterned shoe bag.

Vans x Fitted x Blue Hawaii Surf – WaiʻAleʻAle Era Pro (Summer 2014)

“Back in Spring of this year we introduced the Waiʻaleʻale pattern, based off Mt. Waiʻaleʻale on the island of Kauaʻi, one of the wettest spots on earth. The idea that water surrounds us here in Hawaiʻi—from the waterfalls up in the mountains, to the inland rivers and streams, and down to the beaches all around us—gave way to the concept behind the design, and ultimately became the perfect catalyst for the collaboration between two local Hawaiʻi-grown companies and an activewear company with heavy ties to the surfing world.

This Saturday we continue with our Waiʻaleʻale Collection, teaming up with Blue Hawaii Surf and Vans to present one of the cornerstones of the entire capsule: the Waiʻaleʻale Era Pro. Featuring special materials not normally seen on shoes, we’re incredibly proud of this project and equally as excited to finally release it to the public.

Starting with the upper, this Era Pro features contrasted white stitching on fully sublimated nylon rip-stop, showcasing our Waiʻaleʻale pattern. The clear eyelets represent the crystal clear waters in Hawaiʻi, tying back to the Waiʻaleʻale concept. The Duracap Vulcanized midsole is all white, with the tonal Vans heel tag adding to the clean look. We hit the entire outsole with a bright orange color to add contrast to the colors up top. Moving to the inside of the shoe, we used a full spacer mesh lining for added comfort and breathability.

The FITTED + Blue Hawaii Surf + Vans Waiʻaleʻale Era Pro comes with three lace options (black, white, and our 116 yellow) and will be released this Saturday exclusively at FITTED (in-store and online) and at Blue Hawaii Surf.”

Eric will be in-store from 4PM to 9PM, doing some in-store tattooing for the BTNC friends & family, but rejoice! One lucky raffle winner will win a free tattoo from Eric Dressen! “No pro in the history of skateboarding ever made a successful transition from the ‘70s skinny board era through the ‘80s vert era to eventually become a pioneer in the modern era of street skateboarding. None, zero, zilch, nada. None, that is, except for Eric Dressen, OG Venice and Santa Cruz legend. Eric has witnessed firsthand the rise and fall of skateboarding three times over, and has come out a better man for it. These days, Eric still skates for Santa Cruz and has expanded his artistic output to include tattooing full time at Will Rise in Los Angeles. Eric truly is one-of-a-kind, and as such it’s our honor to collaborate with Eric on this exclusive Syndicate pack.

The Vans Syndicate Dressen Pack includes an Old Skool in Army / Water Resistant Canvas, a Sk8-Hi in Black / Water Resistant Canvas along with a Syndicate Crew Sock and Dressen Pocket Tee.”

I think this release is one of the dopest of the year for Syndicate. The earth-tone colors, matched with a unique foxing band, and classic white vulc sole, makes these an easy addition to your current lineup. Eric Dressen is 2 for 2 so far, in my opinion, when it comes to his collabs with Vans Syndicate. You may recall his perfectly executed wool Half Cabs he did about 5 years ago. Stunning. These have a more utilitarian, rugged aesthetic, with military influence, and I am definitely not mad at that. I love me some olive drab Vans, and I say keep ’em coming!

Look for these to officially drop this weekend, Aug. 9th. Vans Syndicate needs to chill out for a bit. These releases are coming way too close to one another, and the prices aren’t getting any cheaper! Please!
