Barneys is teaming up with Vans Vault to create this luxury OG Classic Slip-On LX.  Constructed in a premium leather, woven together to create the iconic checkerboard pattern that we’re all fond of.  When asked about the inspiration for the design, Barneys said “We were cleaning out our sample closet last spring and found this cool material an old sneaker was made out of—a thin grain leather on one side, suede on the other. We sent it to Vans to see if they could develop it into a fabric that could be cut and woven and used for a slip-on sneaker,” said Chris Pepe, Barneys’ senior buyer of men’s footwear. “We did several rounds of samples trying to get the texture, thickness, and color right”.  Barneys chose a black/white colorway to represent Vans, and a black/navy colorway to showcase their own particular style.  These Slip-Ons are a thing of beauty, and hopefully you can get your hands on them when they release.  Retail is set at $165.

Vans x Golf Wang – Old Skool Pro (August 2015)

Words via Complex:

“Following two well-received Vans Old Skool collections, Odd Future ringleader Tyler, the Creator is back with another collab and it’s dropping sooner than you may have expected.

This time around, the collaboration has been branded Golf Wang x Vans, which is the clothing brand that Tyler started in 2011. It’s as colorful as ever, and three of the four styles feature Vans’ trademark checkerboard print throughout the side panels. From the looks of things, each colorway in the set was designed to coordinate with specific Golf Wang pieces.

In an Instagram post, Tyler revealed a drop date of August 29. Stay tuned for an official price point.”

Vans x Dime – “Glory Challenge” contest (Video)

Words via Highsnobiety:

“After the successful unveiling of the Dime x Vans Slip-On Pro, the two entities hosted the Glory Challenge: an invitational Pro/Am contest specifically designed for non-contest skaters. Unlike your run-of-the-mill contest, the objective was to impart entertainment. In addition to around $7,600 in cash prizes for the winners, to each of the challenge’s victors, spoils of beer, skate decks and pride were bestowed upon them. Non-traditional events like the “Race Challenge” put skaters’ running speeds to the test, while more self-explanatory events like the “Best Tricks Challenge” allowed for skaters to captivate an engaged audience.”

Vans Vault x EXI.T – Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX (August 2015)

Info via Highsnobiety:

“Hong Kong retailer EXI.T links with Vans to give the Sk8-Hi sneaker a luxurious makeover. Lifting Rick Owens’ signature black-and-cream colorway and applying it to Vans’ iconic skate mid-top, the sneaker sports a premium leather and suede upper, and is finished with a zipper upon the heel counter. Given the popularity of the Dark Lord’s oversized leather high-tops, we imagine EXI.T’s tongue-in-cheek nod to Rick Owens will go down a storm amongst Hong Kong sneakerheads and fashionistas alike.”

Vans Vault and DQM have put together this English raincoat-inspired Old Skool LX set, called the “Square Ones: Vansguard” pack.  We rarely see this minimalistic style with the embroidered lace eyelets, relaxed tonal brushed twill uppers, and contrasting all-white vulcanized soles, but it’s a great look and they are truly comfortable.  They will be available in Black, Nautical Blue, and Seneca Rock, and will feature the Ortholite insoles that you’re familiar with on your typical Vans California models.  Stay tuned to DQM for more official pics and info.

Vans x Dime MTL – Slip-On Pro (Video)

After identifying a gap in the footwear market and realizing that no brand had ever designed a shoe specifically for fetishists, Vans and Dime have joined forces to fill this void and capitalize on this untapped opportunity.

What makes the Dime Vans Slip-On Pro the all-time greatest shoe for stomping bananas are its multiple performance upgrades including UltraCush HD Cushioning, Pro Vulc Lite construction, DURACAP reinforcements and of course, the superior stomping control and intuitive banana response that only its clear Vans ORIGINAL WAFFLE outsole can provide.

Words via END:

“Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy launches another collaboration with fellow skateboarding brand Vans. After re-working an old-school slip on sneaker in 2014, the two have mashed-up their designs once again to create the Sk8-Hi for A/W’15.

The Sk8-Hi rejuvenates the usual canvas uppers with premium suede featuring contrast stitching of the vans stripe logo to sides. Old-School rubber reinforcements on the toe box and side panels for skateboarding have been added.”

These were originally known as the Style 138, with a rubber crescent moon toe cap, and an ollie pad.  For more retro knowledge, check out Pillowheat on Instagram!
