shit is getting very interesting... as much as I'd like to continue to buy sets from Brant I cant be too sure on this one! I'd need to see more photos of them to be honest. For some reason it doesn't even look like the Derby...

Yeah this one is randumb. The Derby is meant for a crepe sole, and meant for casual wear, not a skate shoe! Let OTW have that hybrid shoe market, with their Pritchard. Otherwise it puts one of the two shoes out of competition, and directly onto the discount rack (most likely the Derby, since the Pritchard is fairly established). Not even a different color choice would change my mind on these ones. Our beloved Syndicate line is getting too full of themselves, and the predicted low sales on these will probably bring them back to reality...especially with their new expansion in retailers.

Syndicate is going to be more of a full line from now on, with the Derby being the launch of a new style in Syndicate that is an actual skate shoe, not a collector/story piece.

Look at it closely an you will notice that it is the Zero Lo without the toe cap and ollie pad.

Fuck, the way you put it Music City, sounds like Syndicate is just gonna be Vans Core line. Eventually gonna make its way to the mall. :-(

Yeah, my first thought was that it was basically the zero lo without the toecap/ollie pad. Wouldn't that make it less durable for skating, though? Although I'm sure they could just reinforce the area under the vamp anyway.

These won't be too high on my list, but I might consider the black/blue pair if I run across them and they're easily attainable.

The more I actually look at these, the less I like them. They didn't do the heel the right way for them to be the derby, either...

to address these two points without saying too much:

my apparel rep was wearing the samples and hadnt really skated them, but i could tell they had been through some tough wear / weather etc.... anyway, I could see the outline of the duracap rubber underneath the suede, and it pretty much covers the entire toe piece.... so it should be more like the stage 4 in that respect. seamless toe cap and the subtle durability hidden below.

the pricing makes them a good value.
