Under The Palms

So I'm going to Maui for about 5 days in August and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what to do?
Are there any must-see's or must-do's?
Also, any shoe stores that are in the Maui area?

I'm asking here because I know that there are a few members that are familiar with HI and go there often or live there.

I think Maui is the "vacation" spot, like to get away. Honolulu, and the main city is more known for the shops, and tourist stuff. Maui is beautiful, though. Not speaking from experience, but my homie just came back from there about a month ago, and the pics alone, were enough to make me wanna go there first, before going to the big city!

^^^ That's good news. I'm excited just to go to the beach alone...the water in Santa Cruz (where I usually go to the beach) is FREEZING. But the waves are nice so that's all that matters. haha

Maui is a little crowded these days too, but def still more "island" than Oahu is. IMO, if you want the true laid back HI experience, Kauai is where it's at. Everything closes early and there's little to no nightlife, but the beaches are amazing and usually not crowded in the least.

But yeah, Maui is solid. Great sights, awesome beaches, and you still get some nightlife and city-like perks.

That's good news again! haha. Yeah we're 100% staying on Maui so I was wondering if there was something that I had to do while I was there...
Like if you're in SF you want to see the Golden Gate...in NY it's the Statue of Liberty. Ya know?

IMO, you gotta check out the black sand beach near Hana. The road to Hana is pretty crazy too, unless they fixed it.

Let's put it this way...They used to sell t-shirts that said "I survived the road to Hana"

Haha...I think my uncle has one of those actually. I wanna go anyways though because black sand sounds awesome.

Just booked a ticket Amsterdam - Honolulu for June next year so I'll be in here asking questions in the next few months.

eat at the DA KITCHEN
(it's in kahalui and make sure you get deep fried musubi)
alcohol is BYOB. no corkage fee.

hale'akala.
be there at 3:30am
make sure you bring all the cold weather clothes and shit you can bring.
watch the sunrise.
it's fucking gnarly

hit up Lahaina.
there's a brewery there that i went too. it's on the main road
$15 bucks drink all you can.


i forgot the exact name of the town but hit up Black Rock.
it's a beach located on this touristy place.
there's a big ass black rock in the end.
the jump is like 25-30ft drop.


ill prolly make a better list when i sober up haha.

Do some snorkeling while you're there, go to this place called "The Gazebo" it has awesome breakfast, and just relax there!
The road to Hana was cool but once you get to the black sand beach it's not all that great, but go further down and I heard it gets better...we were tired so we didn't go further.
