Yeah man I would just leave the suede as it is. The canvas is difficult too because the wet spread will leave a mark. They're such a hard shoe to restore. I've had about 2/3's of them come out the way I wanted and the others were not so nice. However, I have found that a stiff brush will stand the suede back up and make it soft again.
