Yea, if you've scrutinized every release like I have, then you'll notice that this Originals category premiered with the Palm Leafs, and the OG Slip-Ons in White, Navy, Black or Checkerboard (I think). They modeled the shoes after their original Made In USA renditions, with features like the slim insole, leather heel pad, and the OG shape, meaning the foxing rubber wrapped up on top of the toe slightly, making for a lower, more flat toe. Then, they created a red silk-screened heel tab, similar to the USA Vans, and finished them off with a special "Van Doren" box. This season, we have the Palm Leafs, Style 36 (Old Skool in Navy/Yellow and Orange/White), the Disney collection, and the W)Taps.
Not sure if the Van Doren line was always in the plans, or if it was due to the success of the palm leafs. It's just confusing when they use the same box for both sub-brands. The addition of the LX at the end of the name of the shoe, usually means it's Vault. This cross-over thing has happened with Vault and California in the past as well, with the LVEVL pack, and Mtn. Edition Mids. Both have "CALIFORNIA" branded on the insoles, but clearly they're Vault, with the Vault tag with the season date on the back, and of course the LX at the end of their names. Basically, don't try and figure this shit out, cause Vans will just confuse you again on some other new introduction of a new sub-brand, haha!
BTW, here's some pic references of the shoes I was mentioning:

I've noticed that. Yea its kind of confusing. Considering they've also used that same tab for the collab they used for Bodega and Supreme. Yet for the Blends collab they used the Vault tab. I kind of have a feeling like it might become its own division one day.
I always thought that the California line started within the Vault line and became its own division.
Psh Fuck it. I guess it doesn't matter. I just hope that people don't get all hyped on the WTAPS release.

Yeah, the California line definitely came as an off shoot of the Vault line. I remember seeing Vaults (the lvevl pack and the mt. mids, like Bill said, as well as the schaffers pack and the second Robert Williams collab) with the California branding on the insole right before the California line became its own thing.

Prices are weird at Firmament.
some 95 and 100 Euro Vans there are 70 usd as much on the states, so I hope the wtaps sk8 will have a price range between 75 and 80 usd.

Can't understand this price too, the range of vault releases at Firmament is priced around 150 euros for sk8-hi's, maybe the prices for this colab are mainly to please the fans

That price difference is normally between Europe and the states.

So if anyone's curious about these, I have a sample pair I just picked up off eBay. It's got the thin insole, so they fit loose. Basically, if any of your Vaults have the "Originals" tab on the heel, like the Disneys, Palm Leafs, OGs, and Bodegas, then they'll have a thin insole. What got me on these W)Taps, is that the ankle lining isn't a premium material at all. It's the standard GR pleather used on your typical Sk8-Hi (i.e. Bones Brigades). Puzzled, but maybe that's part of the price point being $80 for W)Taps. Ehh, still a dope shoe, and looks awesome on feet.

Weird, I hope that ankle lining material is just for the samples. Was definitely hoping for something nicer than that!

Word Up - those GR Bones Brigade Joints and those Van Doren SK8 HI Reissues are not luxury Vault Quality.
