Thats also the smallest size I think Syndicate makes anymore... Could be wrong. I've seen past releases go down to a 7 but lately I've only seen 8 as the smallest size.

erwin wrote:Brant is this the last proper syndicate release? Cause i heard something about more S accounts and more releases for fall 012.
Music city may know more about some limited drops in the future as he will have seen holiday '12 by now, so at this time i cannot speak for that (He most likely is not allowed to spill the beans anyway.) But yes, this is the last allocated release in the standard form as we all know it. 6/1 starts a monthly drop and slightly expanded doors (although still a small amount worldwide, and rules are very strict). You have to watch that though, sometimes letting shops order what they want leads them to be pickier, and every once in a while a shoe will be more rare than an allocated product.
For example, if i am told I get to order only 12 of a style, I am chomping at the bit to make my 12 count, trying to figure out what the customers will want, which regulars will grab a pair, etc, etc. But if a shoe is offered in any amount, and I am iffy on it, I may only order 6, or 8. There are some no brainers coming out, and some that are a little more niche, so I think we may find some accounts shying away from larger qts....and if this happens across the board, we may be in for a ride. I guess I'm just saying don't just automatically assume collectibility and rarity are out the window just because drops are more frequent. What I personally hope to see is more people skating in the syndicate line, as well as keeping its edge and the collecting customer.
Still the best product out there, in my opinion. The forecasting commentary almost need their own thread aside from the 4/1 release, so I apologize for getting off track. I could really ramble on for days about the ifs / &'s / buts of it all.

^ Nice input.
It sounds quite difficult on managing the orders of shoes...

So it's gonna get HARDER to get syndicates now? It can be annoying enough as it is if I decide a little bit after a release that I wanna pick up a pair and have to call around to a bunch of shops... haha

^ rocketgoof ---more doors means it should be easier to find the shoes you want. For example, I ordered through the roof on the fall syndicate that I liked and thought would sell well.
I was just pointing out that sometimes when something seems less rare, stores are more likely to order based on what they like, and are less likely to feel the need to order them in full size runs, or on the consumer side ---hold onto something for dear life, and thus get worn / sold / skated / tossed out, and end up being ultimately harder to find. There are a lot of sb's that I could use as an example here...

Every month?
Fuck this is going to get so expensive.. Higher prices than we used to see, stricter rules, and now they're lacking in quality.
Why are they making the soles out of trash if they're trying to appeal to skaters? That makes no sense.
Why must everything I love turn into shit? No ofense to the Syndicate line, which I absolutel love, but the resale factor among the rest that I mentioned is making this hobby so hard to maintain. Now we have more stores, less quantities, etc.
There better be a store in Portland getting an S account. Exit dropped theirs because "People weren't buying them for the higher prices".

JesseC: That's true about people not buying them due to the higher price points. Brant always emphasizes the fact that Syndicates would sell better if they were properly marketed and displayed in stores. Let people know they are premium, and rare, and have a story to the shoe, and that may just hook a few new buyers. My opinion is that Syndicate aims at those in the know. Whether you're in the industry, a fan of legendary skaters, or you're a consumer of higher end brands, you are definitely "in the know", and that's who Syndicate collaborates with and caters to. I'm thankful they allow us to buy into their lifestyle. There's also of course, us, the Vans enthusiast, who know about all things Vans!

the overall change is that the monthly releases will be consistent, not as rare (non-allocated means we, as a syndicate dealer, can buy as many as we want of each), and built to skate (both in quality AND pricepoint ---to be fair the only expensive release was the wtaps, and that was going out with a bang, so to speak. every other recent release has been an extremely good value).
my thoughts are intended to be encouraging to those solely collecting, or those that are thinking it will be blown out and not as special...
they are trying to grow into a program that it probably should have always been (its amazing they were able to produce such low #'s in such a corporately controlled company, because syndicate is/was for the love, no one is driving a mercedes off those commissions alone).
I have enjoyed the brand for what it was and it works perfectly for me in its current state, but am excited to see where the growth will take us. Do i Have to say that? kind of. (I had a bit of a corner on the market and enjoy it thoroughly.) But ultimately it is good for the brand...I hope. Like Guam just said, its been aimed at those that know, so we will have to see what happens when a wider audience gets the opportunity to consume it.
Most of the upcoming releases are nice surprises, good quality, have deep skateboarding roots, and should be appreciated by all. They have all been leaked if you look hard enough, but lets not freak out until 6/1 comes around. I believe we can start using the marketing materials 1 month out, so around 5/1 you will start seeing signs of the first 6/1 release.

So basically Syndicates are going to easier to find, right? Sounds like nothing but good news to me! More releases, easier to obtain.. I really don't care if everyone and their moms are rockin syndicates, as long as I get my pair!

Yeah Guam, I'm really thankful. This line is for us, really, and that's something special that most brands just don't do these days. I guess the Wtaps release just stands out to me when comparing the past releases. As long as I still get to buy pairs to collect and pairs to skate, then I'm happy. I'm really excited to hear that there's more of a skateboarding side behind the next releases. If they're really easier to get, then I'm going to love this change.
On a huge note, the wide spread availability will be great for us, even though they are less rare. Here, we all buy Vans because we love the releases and the shoes, not because it's some scarce "swag" piece. If you think about it, the abundance will kill the resale game, and maybe we'll stop seeing people flip them for $220.
Brant, you're right, Syndicate should have been this way all along. what's cool is that now, with this change, there's going to be many new collectors, and all of the OG collectors will have an extensive knowledge and collection of the original release, which are all going to really go up in value since people are going to know what they are now. So everyone better scoop up the neglected kicks you've been waiting to buy, because they're going to slowly disappear.
