Vans Vault delivers to us these two Old Skool LX’s for the month of May. Dubbed the “Classic Pack”, they take on the round toe version of the Old Skool, in some great looking colors and materials. Available in Grey, or Royal Blue, these are constructed primarily of nubuck suede, except for the jazz stripe, which is made with full grain leather, and the tongue in tonal canvas. Each pair shares the same black lining, cotton laces, and white sole with black foxing. These should be hitting your local Vault dealer at the end of this month.

“This boot body features a perforated suede and custom Sig Zane pattern printed linen upper, cut leather laces and gum sole. We chose an espresso brown colorway with lighter leather accents to reflect the Mauka (mountain inspired) feel and environment. The “Mauka” Chukka LX design incorporates Sig Zane’s hand-cut artwork of the endemic Hawaiian silversword, ‘Āhinahina, and the Mauka-inspired print, Pu’umanawale’a (based off the foothills at the base of the Mauna Kea volcano in Hilo).”

“The reflection of the blue sky with glimmers of white in Omoka’a pond is the signature of our paradise. Where the Pacific meets the islands, we are left with a tide pool palette unique to the Makai (the sea). With a sky linen body, white leather tongue and also with cut leather laces, this is the solid summer joint. The Olako’aka featured on the insole takes us back to the beginning of the Kumulipo creation chant. The mushroom coral is one of the first creatures mentioned in the Kumulipo and make up the origins of our Hawaiian islands.”

This Spring, Vans Vault brings to us the Chukka Bardenas LX, for it’s 3rd season. One of their more grown up looking shoes, with a slimmed down, deconstructed look, these transition from work shoes into play shoes nicely. Their colors for this season are also more subtle, so you won’t get the stink eye from your boss, and you also won’t be denied access to the club. Releasing in a Black, Navy Blue, and an Off-White version. The material chosen for this release is a mixture of tumbled leather, with a soft grain suede on the back side, as well as a nylon pull tab on the ankle collar. Round leather laces, running through shiny metal eyelets finish these off perfectly. They sit on that unique forward leaning sole, that isn’t found on any other model so far, and we don’t know what to officially call it just yet! These will be due out in May.

SIG responded with this “MAUKA to MAKAI” pack (“from the mountains to the sea”), containing the premium MAUKA Chukka Boot LX, and the premium MAKAI Era LX shoes. The ruggedly mountain-inspired MAUKA has an espresso brown suede and linen upper, and incorporates several signature pieces of SIG ZANE’s hand-cut artwork. The summery ocean-inspired MAKAI contrasts MAUKA, with its sky blue upper and white leather tongue and accents. It also features a unique mushroom coral print (a creature native to Hawaii) in the insole. This very limited Vans Vault pack will be available from KICKS/HI in both Honolulu and Guam, SIG ZANE Designs in Hilo, and Saint Alfred in Chicago during Merrie Monarch week starting on April 14. Here’s a cool take on the classic Sk8-Hi. The Vans Vault team has incorporated a heel zipper on this shoe, to allow you to step into the shoe without having to lace them up. Constructed in premium soft leather uppers, and full grain nubuck leather throughout the rest of the shoe. Each pair also sports square leather laces, metal lace eyelets, a leather zipper pull, and a white suede jazz stripe. These will be available in 3 colorways: OG Navy, Black, and White, starting in May.

This season, Vans Vault is releasing a bunch of interesting, attention grabbing models, to say the least. The latest, seen here, is the “hairy suede” pack, which consists of two models, in two colorways each, in a mixture of hairy suede and leather uppers. First up, is the Penny Loafer. A slimmed down model, thanks to the Lo Pro sole, this model is mostly seen in the womens line of Vans. The other model in the pack, is the Spectator LX, in it’s signature saddle style that some of you may like. The colorways chosen are: Honey/Sunrise, and Black/Castlerock, which make for a nice premium release. These will be out this April at your local Vault dealers.
