We haven’t had any celebrity news in a long time, but this weekend some photos popped up, of Kanye West rocking the recently released Vans Vault x WTAPS OG Sk8-Hi “Olive” colorway. Some of us already knew this shoe was dope and an instant classic, but perhaps now, this shoe can gain the respect from those we don’t really care to get it from in the first place, lol! Enjoy!

With the Vans Vault x WTAPS collection dropping tomorrow, I thought it would be nice to give a little insight on what this collaboration means, and what you should expect from the WTAPS brand, by way of Solecollector’s Brennan Williams‘ excellent interview with Vans Vault Head of Design – Jon Warren, and Senior Design Manager for Vans Syndicate – Rian Pozzebon. The interview discusses how they first linked up with Tet, founder of WTAPS, and how their long-standing relationship, first through Syndicate, and now through Vault, has forged along, creating hit after hit. The work ethic that Tet puts into his creations are unmatched, and his strive to learn the product and back story beforehand is unreal, and his slogan “Craft With Pride” comes from this ideal. After this read you’ll probably want to go out tomorrow and buy yourself a pair or two from this awesome release, so sorry if I ruined your plans of saving a little money! Big thanks to Brennan for giving me the heads up on this interview he did. Excellent job sir!

Everyone’s favorite top-10 site has just created a new list depicting their opinion of the Top 10 Vans Vault releases of all time. Everyone should have their own top 10, but this one is a pretty good “rule of thumb” to go by, in terms of milestones for Vans Vault. As a collector of Vans, it’s easy to judge a shoe by it’s resell value, name attached, or limited availability, but like I mentioned, it’s just an opinion! With all of the recent photos of the Vans Vault 10 Year Anniversary celebration at The Park in NYC last week, I thought some of you would like to know that a similar installation was built at the Blends Costa Mesa location, showcasing some awesome Vault sneakers from over the years, including The Simpsons x Vault collaboration, skateboard decks and all! If you have the chance, head on down to the OC and stop in to Blends, and take a step back into time…well a small step at least! Tell them Guamstyles sent you, and for those of you not living in the SoCal area, I’ve posted up quite a bit of photos that I took personally of this installation. It’s something to be admired!

Vans Vault has teamed up with Japanese label W)Taps (pronounced DOUBLE-TAPS!) to create this awesome American Military-inspired collection. Each model has been covered in a nice suede and/or canvas material, in colors that invoke American patriotism. Lots of reds, whites, blues, as well as blacks, tans, and olive greens. They chose to go with the OG Sk8-Hi, Slip-On, and Chukka, in their original shapes from the early days of Vans, and that’s why you see the “Vans ORIGINALS” heel tab. These should be hitting your local Vault dealer soon, after the 10 Year Anniversary festivities come to an end this week. Be on the look out, and join our forum to keep up to speed. Reinterpreting some of the most iconic Vans styles, the WTAPS founder and creative director gave the Sk8-Hi, Chukka Boot, and Classic Slip-On the TET treatment with military-inspired designs that draw philosophies from Japan’s master craftsmen. Thus, the first ever collaboration between WTAPS and Vans’ Vault range sees the silhouettes with utilitarian canvas and suede construction in subtle shades of navy, olive, black, and brown. Comprised of six different designs in all, a limited number of 50 pieces are available exclusively at Firmament ahead of the WTAPS x Vans Vault 2013 fall collection’s worldwide debut on August 15.”
