Words via Bows & Arrows:

“As with most of his cosigned releases, Vans Vault designer Taka Hayashi goes above and beyond with his experimental sourcing of unique materials and attention to detail. The TH Huarache LX Collection features a mash up of premium leathers, suede, wool and woven fabrics. Etched and embroidered embellishments heavily influenced by Native American design are seen throughout, lending each piece from the collection Taka’s easily identifiable signature style.”

Vans Vault – Huichol Pack (A Closer Look via @blendsoc)

HuicholBlends6

I had a chance to stop into Blends Costa Mesa today, down in the OC, and to my surprise they had the Huichol Vans on display, in an awesome build-out that Vans had made for their store.  I noticed that the actual production pairs were slightly different from the official press pics that were released today, and this should answer a few questions that were raised about these, mostly the ones about the Syndicate 35th Anniversary Sk8-Hi being used as the base shoe for customization.  Well, I’ve confirmed that the pairs that will be released, are in fact their own shoe, albeit very similar to said Syndicate version.  The released pairs will feature pigskin linings, and the heel tabs are tonal white, to seamlessly blend in with the foxing, allowing the attention to be focused on the beadwork and hand-stitched artwork.  Side flag tags are embroidered with Vault on the backside like usual, and the footbeds have the newly familiar leather heel pads that are branded with the Vault logos.  SO have no fear, these aren’t just a reconstructed existing shoe.  Sorry for the less-than professional photos, as all I had on me was my iphone, but I hope you appreciate the time I took to bring this info to y’all!  It’s because we care damnit! Lol.  Enjoy the pics, and as always, thanks to Nobu, and the Blends fam for all the continued support.  BTW, these are so rare, that most shops will be only selling them in-store, but hopefully remaining pairs will be up for grabs online.  360 pairs worldwide!!!

Vans Vault – “Huichol” Sk8-Hi & Slip-On (Video & Pics!)

Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans‘ premium Vault label have enlisted the help of craftsmen from Mexico’s Huichol tribe to create a set of highly limited, handcrafted renditions of the label’s classic Slip-On and Sk8-Hi sneakers, showcasing the native people’s skills in elaborate embroidery and beading techniques. The set of painstakingly hand-embroidered sneakers took over 10 months to complete, and come embellished with beads, ankle pendants and yarn-painted uppers, with stunning results.

The set of vibrant, richly colorful sneakers are limited to only 360 pairs worldwide and are set to drop September 20 at select boutique accounts including the Vans DQM General New York and Boston locations, Blends, Bodega, Conveyor, Darkside Initiative, Opening Ceremony, Proper and St. Alfred.  Confirmed international locations include: OTH in Canada, Firmament in Berlin, as well as Sneakersnstuff in Sweden.”

This is the sort of releases that us collectors love, and are always surprised by.  I can’t believe we didn’t know about it much sooner, but then again isn’t that a good thing?!  It keeps it fun, and interesting to say the least.  Now, to hunt down the Sk8-Hi!

Vans Vault – Era LX “Nubuck/Leather” Pack (Available Now @bows_and_arrows)

vault-by-vans-2014-fall-era-lx-1

Words via Bows & Arrows:

“Vans Vault offers the Era LX in the same premium nubuk and leather treatment seen earlier this year on the Sk8-Hi Zip LX. The vamp and heel counter are a soft textured nubuk and the rest of the upper is made up of a premium full grain leather. Flat eyelets, leather liner, round leather laces and a natural colored vulcanized sole complete this elevated version of a classic.”

These are the most awesome Era to come out in a long time.  The mixture of nubuck and supple full grain leather makes for some classy kicks.  Head on over to your local Vault dealer to check these out, or go online to Bows & Arrows and purchase a pair.

Words and pics via Hypebeast:

“Taka Hayashi brings his intricate artistry to the likes of the Era and Sk8-Hi with his latest release alongside Vans and its Vault imprint. Inspired by the ocean and drawn by hand, the five-piece “Sea Life” pack sees “Russet Orange” and “Still Water” tones bring Hayashi’s art to life across premium OG LX editions of the classic silhouettes. While the OG Sk8-Hi LX reveals the vibrant motif at its quarter panels under the iconic sidestripe branding, the OG Era LX sees the graphics incorporated at the ankle counter and toe vamp. Capped off with the like of off-white rubber foxing and rawhide lacing, the Taka Hayashi x Vault by Vans TH “Sea Life” Pack is set to hit select Vault stockists this September.”

Vans Vault x Peanuts – Capsule Collection (Fall 2014)

vans-vault-peanuts-fall-2014-collection-01-960x640

Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans Vault teams up with the Peanuts gang on a Fall 2014 footwear collection featuring a vintage print of the formidable cartoon characters from the ’80s. Fitting for the California brand, these patterns originally appeared exclusively on Vans footwear at the opening of Camp Snoopy in Knott’s Berry Farm. Overall, two prints have been used including “Snoopy and the Gang” and “Camp Snoopy” across select silhouettes such as the OG Authentic LX, OG Era LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX, and they’ve even produced the low top models in toddler sizes as well!  Look for the collection in July at your local Vault dealer.

Vans Vault x Stussy – Collection (Summer 2014)

stussy-x-vault-by-vans-2014-spring-collection-3

Words and pics via Hypebeast:

“Stussy and Vans bring together their most favored motifs for a new collection this season. Taking to the classic throwback silhouettes of Vans’ Vault collection, Stussy has outfitted the OG Era LX, OG Style 36 LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX with three distinct patterns from their prolific canon. Shawn Stussy’s original “Tom Tom” pattern from the 1980s is executed on the Style 36 shoe, complimented with neon green striping and beige suede at the tongue and toecap. The Era LX gets treated with Stussy’s punk “Bones” pattern across the entire upper, contrasted by vibrant sky blue at the interior and leather heel panel. Finally, the OG Sk8-Hi LX sees its own hallmark checkering mixed with Stussy’s infamous 8 Ball print, interrupted by a bold red sidestripe. All three pieces will release in June at worldwide Stussy chapters, as well as select Vans Vault retailers, priced reasonably between $65 and $80 USD.”
