“Vans‘ premium Vault label have enlisted the help of craftsmen from Mexico’s Huichol tribe to create a set of highly limited, handcrafted renditions of the label’s classic Slip-On and Sk8-Hi sneakers, showcasing the native people’s skills in elaborate embroidery and beading techniques. The set of painstakingly hand-embroidered sneakers took over 10 months to complete, and come embellished with beads, ankle pendants and yarn-painted uppers, with stunning results.

The set of vibrant, richly colorful sneakers are limited to only 360 pairs worldwide and are set to drop September 20 at select boutique accounts including the Vans DQM General New York and Boston locations, Blends, Bodega, Conveyor, Darkside Initiative, Opening Ceremony, Proper and St. Alfred.  Confirmed international locations include: OTH in Canada, Firmament in Berlin, as well as Sneakersnstuff in Sweden.”

This is the sort of releases that us collectors love, and are always surprised by.  I can’t believe we didn’t know about it much sooner, but then again isn’t that a good thing?!  It keeps it fun, and interesting to say the least.  Now, to hunt down the Sk8-Hi!

“Vans Vault teams up with the Peanuts gang on a Fall 2014 footwear collection featuring a vintage print of the formidable cartoon characters from the ’80s. Fitting for the California brand, these patterns originally appeared exclusively on Vans footwear at the opening of Camp Snoopy in Knott’s Berry Farm. Overall, two prints have been used including “Snoopy and the Gang” and “Camp Snoopy” across select silhouettes such as the OG Authentic LX, OG Era LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX, and they’ve even produced the low top models in toddler sizes as well!  Look for the collection in July at your local Vault dealer.

“Stussy and Vans bring together their most favored motifs for a new collection this season. Taking to the classic throwback silhouettes of Vans’ Vault collection, Stussy has outfitted the OG Era LX, OG Style 36 LX and OG Sk8-Hi LX with three distinct patterns from their prolific canon. Shawn Stussy’s original “Tom Tom” pattern from the 1980s is executed on the Style 36 shoe, complimented with neon green striping and beige suede at the tongue and toecap. The Era LX gets treated with Stussy’s punk “Bones” pattern across the entire upper, contrasted by vibrant sky blue at the interior and leather heel panel. Finally, the OG Sk8-Hi LX sees its own hallmark checkering mixed with Stussy’s infamous 8 Ball print, interrupted by a bold red sidestripe. All three pieces will release in June at worldwide Stussy chapters, as well as select Vans Vault retailers, priced reasonably between $65 and $80 USD.”
