VAN_blue.1_1700_960_80

Vault by Vans and Maiden Noir have teamed up to create a few classic Vans silhouettes, in a nappy suede mock up.  3 models, featuring 3 colorways, with contrasting black laces, while each sits on a black vulcanized sole.  The first up is the OG Sk8-Hi LX in blue.  The next is an OG Half Cab LX in off-white.  The third is the OG Old Skool LX in a teal colorway.  Very fashion forward.  Very edgy.  Very limited.  Likelihood had a release party for the collection last night, but don’t worry!  Here’s where you can get them tomorrow:

The shoes have already released in Japan on the 10th, but will be releasing tomorrow at 6 stores in the USA: Union LA, Likelihood SEA, Blends CM, Blends SD, Opening Ceremony NY, and Need Supply VA.

Vans x Kiroic – YOTR “Year of the Rooster” Pack (12.16.16)

Vans_YearofTheRooser2

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, celebrates the Year of the Rooster with a specially designed footwear collection with Shanghai based footwear designer Kim Kiroic. Inspired by the lifecycle of a Rooster and Punk Rock culture, this collection consists of six silhouettes under the Vault by Vans and Classic categories.

The design direction for the Year of the Rooster campaign came from Shanghai based creative Kim Koroic, who has worked on Vans capsules for a number of years. Paying homage to individuals who embrace the “Off The Wall” spirit, Kim has grounded this year’s collection in classic punk soul. The two Authentic Platforms making up the Vault by Vans selection draw reference from punk rock culture and Vans heritage with an all over checkerboard print, including leather braided upper, and creeper height platform sole.

The four Classic Vans silhouettes draw inspiration from the rooster’s lifecycle, from an egg to an adult. The Old Skool made with nude-colored leather, emulates the rooster’s egg color. The platform Authentic is complete with all over yellow flannel and silk shoelaces and is reminiscent of the baby chick. Continuing down the lifecycle of the Rooster, the white leather Slip-On comes with a custom three color fringe depicting the rooster’s tail feathers. Rounding out the Classic collection, the Mid Skool has a textured faux leather heel counter indicating the roosters comb. This footwear collection is all about growth and cycles, similar in concept to the growth of punk rock and creativity central to the Vans’ brand heritage.

Kim Kiroic provided a selection of hand-drawn artwork, which make up the visual language of the collection and have been incorporated into the logo design. His artwork draws parallels between punk rock and individuals who carry the “Off the Wall” Spirit. This Chinese New Year, Vans puts a stake in the ground to “Escape the Ordinary” and disrupt what we think of as normal. Vans will continue to fly the flag of creative expression, and this December the Rooster will lead the charge for all who wish to push the limits of style, creativity, and overall awesomeness!

The Vans Year of the Rooster Collection will be available first through the Vans Tmall Flaghship Store and KKtp.com on December 16th. All other accounts and online stores will open on December 20th. Log onto www.vans.com.cn for a location near you.

Vans Vault x Opening Ceremony – VT Mono Pack (Dec. 2016)

OldSkool1

It looks like Opening Ceremony is back again with another high end monochromatic themed release.  Constructed in the usual premium leather, with tonal vulcanized rubber outsoles, they switched things up a little this time by adding the VT Prison Issue LX to the lineup.  The VT Sk8-Hi LX and VT Old Skool LX are back again as well, in some rich new colors.  We’ve got Bison, Harvest Pumpkin, Beige, Black, and Chive which is my personal favorite.  Each pair breaks the $100 price point a little bit, but you’re getting a top notch Vans shoe, in a highly limited production run, in some classy colorways.  What more could you ask for?  Get on your grown folk steez for a change!  Purchase them all from Opening Ceremony’s webstore, or stop in to one of their retail locations.

Vans Vault x Brooks x Taka Hayashi – Capsule Collection (12.3.16)

image3

Vans Vault has once again teamed up with English bike saddle maker Brooks, to create this amazing capsule collection, including two shoes, a bike saddle, and a shoulder bag.  This time, they’ve brought on Taka Hayashi to add his stylings to the collection, featuring his intricate laser-etched patterns throughout the premium leather of each piece.  The shoes chosen for this release, are the OG Sk8-Hi LX, and OG Classic Slip-On LX, and are wrapped in a mixture of brown and black tanned leather.  The soles are a tonal white/marshmallow colorway, and feature a few color accents on the waffle gum sole.  Minimal Taka Hayashi branding can be seen on the footbed as well as the tongues.  There’s also a few limited accessories available separately, one being a Brooks Swift saddle, and a Brooks Barbican Shoulder Bag.  Two absolutely stunning pieces.  There’s also a custom drawer box and dustbag to finish the shoes off nicely.  Look for these to drop at your local Vault dealer this coming weekend like Sole Classics in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday December 3rd.  Pricing is $150 for the Sk8-Hi and $120 for the Slip-On.

Vault by Vans x Taka Hayashi Collection (Holiday 2016)

taka-hayashi-vault-by-vans-holiday-2016-collection-1

Vault and Taka Hayashi are bringing the heat for Holiday ’16.  There’s a few familiar designs here, but in an opposite fashion, if you will.  The TH Court Hi LX, and TH Court Lo Strap LX, seen above, are revisited in a few new color combos, but two appear to be designed exactly off of models we’ve seen a few seasons back, but in either an opposite Hi or Lo.  Got it?  Moving on.  Taka’s designed a Slip-On and Sk8-Hi in a Nomad version, but this is the debut of the TH Chukka Nomad LX.  The shoe features a Native American inspired moccasin stitch design on the upper and mudguard.  Each shoe features one of  a few of Taka’s signature vulcanized soles, as well as his signature feather logo on the tongue.  Read about his inspiration for this collection, over on Hypebeast, and enjoy the pics after the jump.

Vans Vault x Blends – Sk8-Hi Decon LX (UTP Review!) #blendsvans @blends

BlendsDecon1

Here it is folks.  The 6th “Bones” release by Blends and Vans Vault is finally upon us.  I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a pair a day early, so that I could do what I do, and that’s provide you with a unique perspective, a simple one, complete with a few real world photos, un-doctored, and in natural sunlight for that realistic effect.  Enjoy the pics, and good luck getting a pair tomorrow morning at 9AM online, or at each physical location when they open, including the new store located in the Larchmont Village, over near Melrose and the Paramount Studios!

The Sk8-Hi Decon LX is a model we rarely see.  As most of you may know, the Decon models come stripped down with minimal padding and for the most part the uppers are of a one-piece construction.  Blends added their signature minimalistic style with the use of black premium leather throughout, with off-white contrast stitching.  Their trademark Bone jazz stripe is the only panel that stands out on the smooth one-piece upper.  This is the first time Blends has stepped away from the zipper for a Bones release, and substituted it with a heel-pull tab.  It’ll mostly go unnoticed underneath a pair of pants though.  The vulcanized outsole is sort of an off-white, but not entirely of the marshmallow colorway, and the black foxing stripe ties off the classic aesthetic Vans is known for.  The tongues are once again muted, and the only branding on the shoe is by way of a footbed print.  Finally, the inside lining is canvas, and not pigskin, so that’s good news for some.  Oh, and there’s a dustbag and drawer box like the rest.

These are probably the most polarizing pair for any Blends purists, strictly because they didn’t follow suit with the prior models, but who cares right?  It’s still a Bones release.  It’s black.  It’s got premium leather throughout.  It’s got white soles with a black foxing stripe.  They definitely won’t come and go with any trends.  Don’t let anyone try and talk you out of trying to pick these up, because they’re probably just trying to increase their odds of scoring a pair.  Thanks to the Blends fam for always looking out for Under The Palms.  Appreciate you guys as always.

Vans Vault x Blends – Sk8-Hi Decon LX Bones (10.1.16) #blends @blends

blendsxvanssk8hidecon-025

Southern California-based boutique Blends teams up with Vans Vault once again for their sixth installment of their “Bone Jazz-Stripe” series. The duo take to the low-profile silhouette of the Sk8-Hi Deconstruct LX and adorn the model with lush premium cowhide uppers and a tonal Bone Jazz-Stripe for a more subtle branding approach accented with Off-White stitching throughout the construction of the shoe which sits atop the original Sk8-Hi midsole mold for a more authentic approach. Collaborative branding can be found placed on the shoe’s footbed cushioning. Other details such as black foxing, heel tab, and waffle outsole maintain a close similarity to our previous “Peacoat” and “Black” Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX releases. The Blends x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Decon LX will be available this Saturday, October 1st, at Blends doors such as their unannounced newest location in Larchmont Village, Los Angeles as well as their online store. Head over to Blendsus.com for more information on the release.
