Vans Vault x Blends x Peanuts – Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX “Bones” (5.13.17) @blendsus #blendsvans

9

Blends just dropped this one on us out of nowhere.  Typically, we get fair warning when a new Bones shoe is dropping, but I imagine with the amount of hype this shoe is going to create, they wanted to sort of catch us off guard.  The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, seeing that the Uniqlo x Kaws x Peanuts campaign is still fresh in everybody’s heads, and with the upcoming general release Vans x Peanuts collection, this is a nice way to kick things off.  These will be releasing this Saturday, so pick our your favorite Uniqlo tee, grab your Joe Cool plushy, and a blanky, and go camp out at your favorite Blends location!

Words via Blends:

Southern California-based boutique Blends celebrates 67 years of Snoopy & The Gang with a special three-way collaboration in partnership with Vans Vault and PEANUTS by Charles Schulz. This very special Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip features a Black tumbled leather upper accented by a White tumbled leather “Bone Jazz-Stripe” with Schulz’s Iconic Snoopy character laying at the apex of the bone. Designed to emulate Schulz’ raw style the Jazz-Stripe is depicted as hand drawn with the help of jagged contrast stitching. A floating Woodstock seen on the opposite side of the shoe completes the PEANUTS motif.

The PEANUTS x Blends x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip will be available this Saturday May 13th at Blendsus.com as well as Blends’ Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, Downtown Los Angeles, Larchmont Village and San Diego locations.

Vans Vault x JJJJound – OG Old Skool LX (5.5.17)

http _hypebeast.com_image_2017_05_jjjjound-vans-old-skool-2017-collaboration-06

Vans Canada teams up with JJJJound, to create this 90’s inspired OG Old Skool LX pack.  Featuring 3 colorways, a two-tone green inspired by greenhouses and plants, a two-tone brown inspired by woodworkers and furniture, and an off-white color resembling art canvases and tote bags.  The shoes feature a common mixture of suede and 8oz. canvas, like we’re used to seeing on our OG’s, but the unique thing about these are the razor-cut boat deck soles, and cork footbeds.  Also, don’t overlook the USA-made laces, and 90’s vintage-esque hang sticker.  These will be roughly $110 USD, but will be released exclusively in Montreal, at an undisclosed location.  Keep your ears to the streets!

Vans Vault x Goodhood – “Equal / Opposite” Collection (4.29.17)

The debut collaboration between Vans and, contemporary lifestyle retailer, Goodhood launches this Saturday.

Bringing to life a theme of Equal | Opposite, the collection is a ‘Vault by Vans’ unisex pack that features the Goodhood monogram and logo in repeat across the uppers and laces of two iconic Vans silhouettes – the Sk8-hi and the Authentic.

Inspired by Newton’s law of physics which states that ‘for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction’, with forces on an object being consistently identical, the pack comprises three shoes where both women and men are equally represented. The collaboration features a white and black Sk8-hi that runs in a female size break, with the inverse colours appearing on a second Sk8-hi in men’s sizing. The trio is completed by a white and black authentic available in a full unisex size range.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2017, The Goodhood Store has been a destination retailer for contemporary apparel and footwear since its inception. With a belief that every product stocked has a story and relevance to their ethos, Director Kyle Stewart commented: “The project afforded us the opportunity to design product with a unique unisex mentality and the finished product represents our brand in it’s truest sense and treats both the men and women customers as complete equals.”

The Vans x Goodhood pack will be available from Goodhood’s East London store and Online from Saturday 29th April 2017

Vans Vault x NEIGHBORHOOD – BMX Capsule Collection (Spring 2017)

Vault by Vans has gotten together with NEIGHBORHOOD on this amazing BMX-inspired collaboration.  Featuring one of Vans’ iconic logos, the “Thumbs Up”, this pack pays homage to Vans’ heritage in the action sport of BMX.  The pack comes in two colorways, red and black, straying from NBHD’s usual black and white theme, with the intention of making this project all about Vans, and not them.  They wanted to evoke a nostalgic feeling in the design, so they went with an aesthetic from the formative years at Vans, complete with checkerboards on the vulcanized scene or “side-wall”, as well as on the toe of two of the Authentics.  NBHD didn’t stop there.  There is a complete apparel line that is releasing alongside the shoes, including some long-sleeve tees, button-ups, shorts, and a bucket hat.  This whole pack is dope, and unfortunately it’s going to be an Asia-exclusive.

Vans Vault x OTH – “Deli Edition” Mid Skool ’77 LX (UTP Review!)

OTHMidSkoolLX18

It’s been a little while since we’ve seen a collab from Canada’s OFFTHEHOOK in Montreal, Quebec, but their latest offering has got them positioned right back at the front of the pack.  At first, we have to admit we weren’t too sure of what to expect from a shoe who’s inspiration came from a deli sandwich, but it’s all about the execution and final product, right?  OTH has a very high batting average when it comes to their Vault collabs, and this Mid Skool ’77 LX is another home run hit.  Who doesn’t love a burgundy premium leather shoe?  Well, add to that, a distresses leather that slightly resembles the smoked beef of said deli sandwich, and some contrasting yellow laces representing the mustard, and now you have a design that is instantly recognizable.  The extra “relish” mint green waxed laces, and “mayo” off white waxed laces that come in sauce cups are another nice touch, and I laced up one shoe in the white lace, so you could see what that looks like.  I prefer the yellow, otherwise the shoe would look similar to something that you may see in a standard Vault line, or DX line.  That same yellow color is spread across the bottom waffle soles as well.  Footbeds feature a pickle, which is fun, and the lining is a light brown premium leather as well.  The promotion on this release is super well thought out, and for the release party, each pair was delivered in a brown paper bag, each shoe being wrapped in red/white checkered paper, and a custom Vans order receipt was stapled to the bag, complete with some juice stains!  I received my pair in the same style, and I love it.  Thanks for going above and beyond and letting me experience that, from across North America!  We also received a special pair of 40s & Shorties pickle socks, which was another awesome touch!  I want to congratulate OTH on another great release, especially Graeme who contacted me a little while ago to let me know that something was releasing soon, that he personally had a hand in designing, before he left OTH.  Great job man!  I hope my review helps you decide if you need to cop these, because they’re surely worth it.  Thanks again to OTH for the early hook-up, and may these sell out just as fast as your other releases!

Vans Vault x OTH – Deli Edition Mid Skool ’77 LX (3.18.17)

Beauty 4 copy

Words via OTH:

“Off The Hook and Vans are proud to announce the upcoming release of the DELI
EDITION MID SKOOL ‘77 LX . Not only is this shoe inspired by a truly iconic aspect of Montreal, it speaks to
the multicultural and diverse nature of the city that we call home.

Smoked Meat in Montreal

When tourists come to Montreal they’ll seek out a Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, and with good reason. The
Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was brought to North America by the Jewish immigrant community in the
early 1900s. It soon spread out from Montreal and made its way south of the border, gaining notoriety along the
way, but has remained emblematic of the city’s cuisine and diverse makeup. The fact that the iconic dish has
become intertwined with Montreal’s identity, after being brought here by immigrants, speaks to the city’s
multiculturalism and its history as a place where immigrants from around the world have come to settle.

The Deli Edition

The Vault by Vans x OTH Deli Edition Mid Skool ‘77 LX was dreamt up as an homage to the Montreal smoked
meat sandwich (which we’re going to go ahead and call the best sandwich of all time). The shoe features a lightly
distressed, rich burgundy leather upper; a premium leather heel counter and toe box in a lighter shade of
burgundy; and, of course, the classic Mid Skool ‘77 back window that showcases Vans branding. The distressed
leather, and different shades of burgundy, harken back to the heart of a smoked meat sandwich – and the classic
“lean, medium, or medium fat” conundrum – with a rye bread-inspired brown leather jazz stripe and gum tab at
the back of the outsole delicately holding everything together.

We’d have been remiss to offer up a Deli Edition without mustard, so each shoe comes outfitted with Vans’ iconic
waffle sole in a deep mustard yellow. Each pair comes with three sets of laces: a mustard yellow, a mayonnaise
white, and a coleslaw green. Finally, the shoes feature limited edition pickle footbeds with Vans OTH branding.

The Vault by Vans x OTH Deli Edition Mid Skool ‘77 LX will be available on Saturday, March 18th at the Vans
OTH store at 11AM, and online as of 12PM.
