Vault By Vans x Slam Jam x Julian Klincewicz – Collection (1.16.21)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_01_julian-klincewicz-vault-by-vans-slam-jam-era-slip-on-bold-ni-release-date-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“Artist Julian Klincewicz, Slam Jam and Vault by Vans have teamed up for an imaginative footwear and apparel collection. Inspired by Klincewicz’s memories of playing with toy cars as a child and the “constant motion, speed, imagination, endless creativity … exuberance even” the activity brought, the products aim to encapsulate childhood wonder through the lens of adulthood.

Footwear offerings include three classic Vans styles: the Era, the Slip-On and the Bold Ni. The Era is the most straightforward, a black style with white contrast stitching and orange laces plus a special tire badge on the heel. Slip-Ons are more vibrant, putting forth a yellow upper with a raised rubber toe cap and an image of a racecar transposed onto the collar. Finally, the Bold Ni provides the most boisterous style of the three by mixing red, purple, black and white on its top half for a look that’s rich in youthful exuberance.

Apparel consists of a washed black jacket and pant set, plus three tees. Each tee is centered around an image from Klincewicz’s archive — the tire and race car from the above-mentioned Era and Bold Ni, plus one shot of a child — and places it in blown-up fashion directly on the chest. “I was hoping to make things that felt simultaneously childlike and adult, something that transcends age,” says Klincewicz while discussing the collection.”

Look for the Julian Klincewicz, Slam Jam and Vault By Vans offerings to release exclusively via the Slam Jam webstore and retail outposts January 16. Prices have yet to be announced.

Vault By Vans x Johannes Wieser – OG Authentic “Zodiac” LX (Jan. 2021)

SP21_Vault_OG_Zodiac_051

Vault by Vans commences the New Year with a spin on the OG Authentic LX, featuring a mishmash of zodiac signs that nods to cosmic influences and extends to a collection of apparel and accessories.

Leading the pack, the OG Authentic LX in zodiac and black offers an allover embroidered pattern on a full canvas upper, showcasing artwork by Johannes Wieser, a designer and vintage collector based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Johannes worked with Vans to apply an interpretation of his artwork to the collection, which grew organically from a single T-shirt to what the designer describes as an entire universe. He likened the process to Japanese Raku pottery, a hand-molded technique in which a kiln is filled with different herbs and glazes producing dramatically unique variations. The resulting Zodiac Pack represents the mutual respect and ethos created through the partnership.

Johannes’ design carries over to the Vault OG Zodiac chore coat, a 100-percent cotton heavyweight canvas jacket with reversible print, Vault snap closures, dual-entry pockets, cuff adjusters, and a custom woven label.

The collection also includes a Vault OG Zodiac heavyweight hooded pullover fleece, as well as a short sleeve T-shirt in black, each featuring glow-in-the-dark and puff ink. A Vault OG Zodiac bucket hat with 100% cotton printed canvas and reversible zodiac and solid black colorways, and a Vault OG Zodiac tote with an internal drop pocket and Vault woven label round out the offering.

The Vault by Vans: The OG Authentic LX Zodiac Pack is available now at select accounts. Please contact stores for actual availability.

Vault By Vans x Baracuta – Collection (Dec. 2020)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_12_baracuta-vans-vault-sk8-hi-pocket-lx-1-old-skool-lx-dress-blues-tartan-plaid-marshmallow

Info via Hypebeast:

“Heritage British label Baracuta, which is best known for creating the original Harrington jacket, has teamed up with Vans Vault for a two-piece collaborative collection.

Taking on the Sk8-Hi Pocket LX-1 and Old Skool LX, Baracuta adds its traditional British sensibilities to the SoCal sneakers. The results are two skateboarding sneakers that find themselves entering a more sartorial world, equipped with “Dress Blues/Tartan Plaid/Marshmallow” and “Black/Tartan Plaid/Marshmallow” colorways respectively.

Baracuta’s Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Pocket LX-1 gets its name from the addition of pockets on the lateral side. The pocket, and much of the shoe, is crafted from smooth “Dress Blues” leather and suede, while the lateral panel is covered in the red-toned tartan plaid print. A leather Jazz stripe cuts through the tartan, while the medial sports a full suede side in “Dress Blues” covered in Baracuta’s signature motif which has been embroidered in a repeat pattern.

For its Old Skool LX, the classic label equips the pair with black leather on its toe box, eyestay placket, Jazz stripe and heel counter, while plaid has been used on either side of the shoe’s mid-panel section. The same plaid can be seen lining the tongue’s interior and Ultracush insole, which is surrounded in plush “Marshmallow” leather.

Rounding out both pairs is a unique Vans license plate finished in a tan tone, burgundy and gold Vans branding in the form of a side-tab (and a tongue tab for the Sk8-Hi), as well as a set of “Marshmallow” laces.

Take a look at the Baracuta x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Pocket LX-1 and Old Skool LX above.  The Sk8-Hi will cost €109 EUR while the Old Skool LX will cost €99 EUR (approx. $129 USD and $118 USD respectively).”

Vault By Vans x LQQK – OG Chukka Boot LX (UTP Review!)

IMG_3535

I received a nice package the other day from our friends over at Vans, and to my surprise it was a pair of OG Chukka Boot LX’s from the Vault x LQQK collection, accompanied by a super dope custom made vinyl crate, showcasing some printed graphics featured in this collection.  They know me so well!  Before I get into reviewing this pair, I wanted to say thank you to Michelle C. over at Vans, who always thinks of me, and keeps me tapped in to the latest and greatest things happening over at Vans.  There’s many more friends we have over there, but she’s special special lol.  Thank you Michelle!

So right off the bat, this sophomore collection checks all the boxes when it comes to what we consider a proper collaboration.  It’s been awhile since we’ve discussed the criteria, so for our new friends, here’s the 5 things we like to see:  (1) New and original material, design element, or color, (2) Thoughtful packaging, (3) Branding, (4) Story or connection to something, (5) Limited or exclusive (preferably numbered when possible).  This collection hits on all of that.  From the combination of nubuck suede, paint splatter, and debossed Vans circle logos, to the super dope lime green brick drawer boxes, to the subtle branding on the outside forefoot of the vulc sidewalls and back side of the Vans flag, to the story connection of their print studio in NYC.

Many of us may not have known much about LQQK prior to their Vault collabs, but you have to give it up to Vans Vault for providing this “LQQK” into their cool place.  No hype.  Not for anything more, than to just introduce us to a really cool company, who does some pretty cool shit.  We’re always learning something new, and cool, and who else is going to bring that to you?

Check out more of my personal review pics after the jump, all taken with my iPhone 11 Pro.  Green if that matters, lol.

Vault By Vans x Taka Hayashi – DIY “Military Black Pack” (Nov. 2020)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2020_11_vans-taka-hayashi-diy-sk8-hi-slip-on-old-skool-release-001

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans and Taka Hayashi have returned for another “DIY” pack consisting of Sk8-Hi and Old Skool silhouettes that come with kits of various velcro patches. Following their previous project — DIY kits with bright summer-tinged colors — the two labels have switched things up with bold military-inspired designs.

Covered with sleek black velcro all around, the silhouette comes with contrasting top-stitching that gives the wearer a sense of where to stick on various panels. From olive suede toebox panels to tiger camo tongues to cheetah-patterned side stripes, a variety of panels are offered. The Sk8-Hi comes with a handful of bold camo prints set in subdued earth tones, while the Old Skool features a more concise selection of add-ons. One highlight of the Old Skool’s “DIY” kit is the set of eyelet and forefoot panels — the shoe can either bear the mold of a traditional Old Skool with laces or resemble a Slip-On when replacing the eyelets for the forefoot panel. Other pieces like embroidered patch logos and heel counter swatches round off the highly customizable pack.”

Vault By Vans x Notre – OG Old Skool LX (10.31.20)

Full-Set

The Chicago-based retailer Notre revamps their inaugural collaboration with Vault by Vans, introducing new colors.

Vault by Vans and Chicago’s Notre are pleased to present their second collaboration, once again selecting premium materials and applying them to the beloved OG Old-Skool LX silhouette.

Notre first put their spin on this iconic model in late 2018, layering their signature handshake motif over hairy green suede. Now, they’ve refined the style further, and brought it back in four new, tonal colorways referencing classic Vans models: off-white, black, blue, and red. Each pair ships in a custom box bearing Notre’s motto: “There are many ways of doing things besides your own.”

“That motto comes from The Whole Earth Catalog, and it’s inspired a lot of what we’ve done as a shop over the past few years, and what we try to stand for: teamwork, learning from one another, staying open-minded,” said Notre co-founder and co-owner MJ Jaworowski. “This year has been tough for everyone, obviously, so we felt this would be a good moment to re-introduce our Vans shoe concept, which itself promotes a message of togetherness.”

Vault by Vans x Notre OG Old-Skool LX ($90) is designed to be subtle and versatile, ideal for daily wear and made from materials that age with character. This release is rounded out with a two-piece capsule collection designed and produced by Notre, including the “Linking Hands” hoodie ($98) in Black and Heather Grey, and the “Many Ways” short-sleeved t-shirt ($36) in Black and Off-White.

The Vault by Vans x Notre OG Old-Skool LX and private label capsule will be available exclusively through Notre’s online store on October 31.
