Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans Syndicate, with a little help from Incase and Oakley, took a trip overseas to London’s Ivory & Black Soho to present what looks like one heck of an exhibit entitled “What Are You Doing After This?” The group exhibit features a large lineup with numerous familiar names including Curtis Buchanan, Jason Dill, Leo Fitzpatrick, Fuck This Life, Jerry Hsu, Atiba Jefferson, Todd Jordan, Kevin “Spanky” Long, Nina Long, Neckface, Alex Olson, Jeff Potocar, Tino Razo, Lele Saveri, Chris Shonting, Meryl Smith and William Strobeck. The exhibit featured a range of photographs, sculptures and other artistic disciplines, but now that the show has just ended its run, our gallery is the best way to check out what went on.”

Vans Syndicate 022.133 x Mike Hill – Authentic Pro “S” & Sk8-Hi Boot “S”(Available Now @silostore)

VANS-SYNDICATE-MIKEHILL_SILO-700x560

The latest Vans  Syndicate release is upon us, and is slowly trickling into local Vans Syndicate dealers, like our fine peeps over at Silo.  The pack takes it’s inspiration directly from Mike Hill’s two favorite shoes he wears, and the collaboration turned out to be a super dope release, and some of our design wishes made it to the final version, like the wide heel strip panel, seen on the early “Made in USA” Authentics.  They toyed around with a few different variations, but we’re glad that this one stuck!  The Sk8-Hi Boot “S”, although not typical for the “S” label, is a great addition to the Syndicate heritage, and is definitely a first.  These resemble Mike’s work boots that he wears while out on his adventures.  They come wrapped in premium dark green leather, while sitting on top of the same vanilla sole as the minty Authentic.  Mint/black workboot laces are featured on both shoe, for a nice finishing touch.  Oh, and one last thing!  The accessories were brought back for this release!  Every pair comes with a DIY rubber stamp sheet, with some Vans Syndicate, and some Alien Workshop artwork.  Hooray!  These are both now available at your local Vans Syndicate dealer, or if you’re having trouble finding your sizes, then check out Silo’s webstore at shop.silostore.com.  All inventory should be up to date!

Vans Syndicate 022.133 – Mike Hill of Alien Workshop (Exclusive @Silostore Interview)

OTWS’ connection with the skate, sneaker, and fashion industry we indirectly represent, wouldn’t be possible without a few key figures that we stay in close contact with and embrace, and Brant, owner of Silo skate shop in Nebraska, is hands down our #1 life line.  Being a fellow Vans Syndicate fanatic and an early adopter of their lifestyle, we naturally crossed paths early on, and have a great customer relationship with each other.  This same crossing of paths happened for him and Mike Hill, the Creative Director / Lead Designer of Alien Workshop, many moons ago, when a young Brant was just starting out, running his skateshop in his adolescence years.  They share a common background, coming from the rural mid-west, and representing the core skater to the fullest.  Brant waxes nostalgia about his style and progression for skateboarding maturing over time, and sharing his experiences with touring and demoing with AWS, and later on collaborating on many projects with them.  Then, we get into the meat and potatoes of the article…the shoes!  The upcoming Authentic Pro “S”, and Sk8-Hi Boot “S” are going to be a serious contender for “Vans of the year”, and we get a first look into the upcoming releases.  Sit back, grab a cold one, and enjoy this superbly written article, by our friend Brant over on the Silo Feature.

Vans Syndicate 022.134 – Authentic 69 Pro “S” (Evolution of Product by @silostore)

feature_auth69-3

It isn’t too often that we get a little bit of back story to the design process of most sneaker releases, especially with Vans.  With the amount of shoes they release each season across each division, it’s no big deal to make a minor change here or there for business purposes, without losing a step, but that’s not the case with some Vans Syndicate shoes, where every detail gets tended to.  OTWS members are fully aware of the amount of change a Syndicate release can go through from sample to production model, making them coveted by collectors.  Case in point, are these Authentic 69 Pro “S” shoes.  When the first pics surfaced of these, the first thing that caught our attention was the nylon heel pull strap, and right away the first comments were “I hope those make it to the production version”.  Well, after trying a few other options for the heel of this shoe, including the OG heel strip with the vertical stitching, found on vintage Made in USA pairs of Authentics, they decided to go with the heel pull, which was perfect.  This will set this pair apart from all of the other Authentics out there, and I’m sure these will not sit long on shelves.

Okay, well enough of my spiel.  Our good friend Brant, owner and operator of Silo store in Nebraska, has been a Syndicate supporter since day one, and an OTWS supporter since it’s early inception, and he put together a nice feature over on his site, showcasing the evolution of the Authentic 69 Pro “S”, complete with high resolution product shots, and a great interview with Neal Shoemaker, one of Vans Syndicate’s awesome designers.  Head on over to Silo’s page to read the article, and check out the pics after the jump!

Vans Syndicate x Odd Future – Old Skool “S” (via @ModernNotoriety)

-I was asked to take the photo down by the nice people over at Vans, so I respectfully did 🙂

Not much info out on these just yet, but Modern Notoriety has leaked a photo of what looks to be an upcoming Vans Syndicate collaboration, with Tyler The Creator of Odd Future.  There’s 4 Old Skools shown, each sitting on top of a gum sole, with color-matching foxing stripe.  The white jazz stripe on each pair, sets a nice contrast for the otherwise tonal shoe.  As more info arises, we’ll be sure to share it with you all.
