Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans’ Syndicate project teams up with veteran skate retailer Kasina for a limited take on the Authentic and Old Skool. Home to collaborations with Odd Future, Ice T and Carhartt WIP among others, the Syndicate project makes product exclusively for select independent skate retailers, and this collaboration with Kasina marks a first Korean project for the brand. A chain pattern is featured alongside the store’s trademark Coral color, with both pairs coming with an accompanying chain-patterned shoe bag.

Head over to Kasina’s webstore for the sneakers when they drop August 29.”

Vans Syndicate 026.164.1 x Civilist – Berlin Pack (Summer 2014) @silostore

VANS-SYNDICATE_CIVILIST_2

Briefing courtesy of Silo, as well as the awesome pics!

Civilist created this cool 3-pack with a trip to Berlin in mind. They’ve created the perfect 3-pack, for your weekend, or over-night stay, while visiting their town. Read along, as they explain what shoe to designate for each situation you end up in. Genius idea Civilist! Well done, and awesome design. If you like beer, then these are speaking directly to you!

“It’s about Berlin. It’s about Civilist. It’s about partying. We’d like to give you’re the inspiration for it. Because that’s why you come to Berlin.

Today is the day.
Drinks to get into the right mood. Maybe in front of our store in Berlin-Mitte. Then dinner at a nearby restaurant or a Döner. More beers. Then entering a bar. Maybe some cocktails, or shots. For sure some more beers. Then club. Buddies. Shots. Beers. Music. Ladies. Longdrinks. Beers. Schnaps. Dancing. Beers. Talking. Shots. Blackout. No more money in the wallet. However. Taxi ride home. No recollections. But a few receipts. Best case you are not alone when you’re going to bed. Suggested footwear for your night out:
Era Pro “S” – for the dance floor.

Next morning, afternoon, or night.
Hungover. Kater. Head hurts. Dehydration. Body works in slow motion, only. Maybe alone again. Maybe not. However, you need food and water. Forget about the occasional “Konter-Bier”. Won’t work. Heading to the supermarket or “Späti” around the corner. Maybe some food. Döner again? Or a Schnitzel? Maybe some pasta? You need lots of it. And most probably. This day is gone. Because you have been at an after hour party a few hours before. Suggested footwear for this cropped day:
Slip-On “S” – no need to lace up at all.

Next day.
You are feeling ok by now. All toxic waste has left your body. Hopefully. Maybe it’s not even traceable anymore. Body functions are working again. You’re leaving your hideout from yesterday’s recovery program. Worst case destinations now: work, university, school or family re-union. Best case: you are meeting up with your friends. Preferably you are coming to our store and will seat yourself on our bench. Waiting to go to a skate spot. Or starting drinking beers again. Prost. Suggested footwear for this day:
Sk8-Mid Notchback “S” – giving you the needed support.”

Available now for sale on Silo’s webstore as well as your local Syndicate dealer.

Words and pics via Silo (with permission, of course!):

“No pro in the history of skateboarding ever made a successful transition from the ‘70s skinny board era through the ‘80s vert era to eventually become a pioneer in the modern era of street skateboarding. None, zero, zilch, nada. None, that is, except for Eric Dressen, OG Venice and Santa Cruz legend. Eric has witnessed firsthand the rise and fall of skateboarding three times over, and has come out a better man for it. These days, Eric still skates for Santa Cruz and has expanded his artistic output to include tattooing full time at Will Rise in Los Angeles. Eric truly is one-of-a-kind, and as such it’s our honor to collaborate with Eric on this exclusive Syndicate pack.

The Vans Syndicate Dressen Pack includes an Old Skool in Army / Water Resistant Canvas, a Sk8-Hi in Black / Water Resistant Canvas along with a Syndicate Crew Sock and Dressen Pocket Tee.”

I think this release is one of the dopest of the year for Syndicate.  The earth-tone colors, matched with a unique foxing band, and classic white vulc sole, makes these an easy addition to your current lineup.  Eric Dressen is 2 for 2 so far, in my opinion, when it comes to his collabs with Vans Syndicate.  You may recall his perfectly executed wool Half Cabs he did about 5 years ago.  Stunning.  These have a more utilitarian, rugged aesthetic, with military influence, and I am definitely not mad at that.  I love me some olive drab Vans, and I say keep ’em coming!

Look for these to officially drop this weekend, Aug. 9th.  Vans Syndicate needs to chill out for a bit.  These releases are coming way too close to one another, and the prices aren’t getting any cheaper!  Please!

Vans Syndicate 026.160 – RapidWeld Pack (August 2014) #NOYFB

Rapidweld_Hero_1

Right off the heels of the Golf Wang Old Skool Pro “S”, Vans Syndicate is hitting us up with another release for the same month.  They’re presenting to us, the Seylynn Rapidweld “S” and Mt. Edition Mid Rapidweld “S”.  The Rapidweld technology used in producing the two shoes featured, shows off a seamless construction throughout most of the shoe, with a few hits of premium full-grain black leather, and premium temperature management linings.  The Rapidweld Pack explores the unknown, paying homage to a culture of classified missions led by the military, the Air Force and beyond, and includes a special pack of unique patches symbolizing these clandestine operations.  #NOYFB

This pack has been delayed to most of the shops, which wouldn’t be such an issue if Vans would just stop trying to create release dates for their shoes.  Most of us Vans collectors and enthusiasts spend a good amount of our money on Vans because they don’t follow in the footsteps of other shoe brands that NEED to do these sort of tactics to sell their product.  The authenticity is already there, and I feel by doing this, it diminishes the coolness of the product.  Stop producing action sports spectator footwear, and you won’t need to look to your gems to produce more profit (or less loss as some releases go).  That’s just my opinion, #butthatsnoneofmybusinessthough

Vans x Supreme – Seylynn “S” (Spring/Summer 2014 Official Review!)

IMG_2545

I really need to hand it to our UTP fam for knowledge of this release.  Our member Wolfstrice09 stumbled across a Supreme LA employee’s IG account that had a picture of these Seylynn’s on it, stating that they were in at the shop.  Wolfs’ tagged me in the photo, and asked if I knew anything about them, and I did!  They were leaked about a year ago on a Vans employee’s IG feed (recognizing a pattern here?), stating that they were going to be an upcoming Supreme release.  Well, fast-forward about a year and some months, and look what secretly showed up!  Supreme has dropped the Seylynn “S” in store, without any prior news release or official launch.  Sound familiar?  Remember back when they dropped the Zero Lo “S” in Navy?  It was an unofficial drop as well, however word spread to a few major blogs at the time.  This time, nothing!  Which made it nice for me, as I was able to stroll in about 3 days later and pick up my pairs.  As most of you know, the Seylynn is the same shoe as the Zero Lo, and there’s no understanding why the name was changed around the time that 8FIVE2 released their Seylynn “S” collab with Vans Syndicate.  There’s also another anomaly with this Supreme release.  These were produced in 2012, as it shows on the box label, around the same time that the 8FIVE2 version came out.  Perhaps there was a factory minimum?  Who knows!  All we know is that Supreme sat on them for a few years.  There are 3 colors, black, red, and blue.  I chose to pick up just the red and blue, as the black is identical to the OG Zero Lo “S” which I already have.  The inside lining is red leather, like most Supreme Vans, and there is a Supreme logo stamped in gold foil, along with the Luke Meier graphics that are on all Zero Lo’s.  These are awesome, and classy.  Get on down to Supreme, to see what they have left.  I imagine they are highly limited, and definitely worth adding to your Vans collection.

Vans Syndicate 026.164.3 x Odd Future – Old Skool “S” Pack (via @Silostore)

GOLF_WANG_GRAND-ISLAND

The homies over at Silo Store have just put up their own high-res pics of this weekend’s highly anticipated sophomore release of the Vans Syndicate x Odd Future “Golf Wang” Old Skool “S”.  This time they’ll be available in 3 colorways, which are listed below.  Say what you will about this polarizing release, but just from a design standpoint, have you ever seen any Vans like these before?  I didn’t think so.  That’s something you have to respect in this day and age of retro’s and rehashed shit.  These will have no problem selling out, but I just wanted to share Silo’s awesome photo work, giving us another point of view, and perhaps they can help you source a pair.  On a side note, if you’re looking for older Syndicates, then there’s a good chance that Silo has it in stock, or they can track it down for you.  Give them a call, and check out their webstore for their latest stuff, including these Golf Wang Old Skools that will be releasing this Saturday as a country wide coordinated release.  It’s all about that hype!

Vans Syndicate x Odd Future – “Tyler The Creator” Old Skool Pro “S”

SyndicateOddFuture_HeaderLarge

Tyler the Creator is back at it again, for round 2 of his infamous Vans Syndicate Old Skool Pro “S” model.  This year’s model is the same shoe as last year, except with some wild new color combinations.  While the last pair’s unifying look was the gum soles, this year it’s about these hot pink vulcanized soles, which are ridiculously dope.  Say what you will about the “Creator”, but his style is unique, and his followers are the most dedicated kids around, and these will be gone before you can even voice your negative opinions about them!  I want all of them!  I will get all of them!  Will you?!

Here’s some words from Vans Syndicate:

“This fall, Vans Syndicate joins forces with Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator to give the classic Old Skool silhouette a Pro “S” treatment with Ultracush impact sockliners and Duracap reinforced uppers in three bold suede and vivid pink colorways. The Vans Syndicate x Tyler The Creator Pack features the Old Skool Pro “S” in three color schemes including Blue/Pink, Wheat/Pink and Green/Pink.
This project marks the second Odd Future collaboration in the Syndicate line and will be available exclusively from authorized Syndicate dealers beginning July 19th.”
