Dead.Stock: joni_loco’s “1996” Supreme Old Skool’s (first release)

As OTWS continues to grow, it never ceases to amaze me of some of our newest members’ collections.  Almost every contributing collector on our forum has something that the rest of us don’t.  When one of our newest members posted up his introduction, he just so happened to add this little gem in there, right at the end…knowing that jaws would drop in shock.  How many of us can say we own one of the very first Vans collabos from Supreme?  Let alone, still DS and not even laced up!  These Old Skools came out back in 1996, six years before their first Nike SB collaboration, and long before the Supreme hype was in full effect.  There were 3 colorways, 2 were camo, and the 3rd was this pair in a white and gray colorway.  The best part about these, is that they were made in the USA!  I asked Joni to snap me some detailed shots to share with you all, and here they are.  If you have some rare, or special Vans that you wouldn’t mind sharing with us, then let me know.  I’d be more than happy to post them up on here.  Thanks again Joni, our newest member, all the way from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for the pics!

Vans x Supreme – Chukka 95 (S/S 2011)

Right off the heels of the successful first Spring/Summer Vans release from Supreme, next up are these Chukka 95’s.  This is the first time we get to see the entire lineup of colorways.  These will be available in Black, Royal Blue, Navy, Yellow, and Red, in a canvas upper, with a leather heel, while sitting on top of an all white midsole.  There is also a checkered heel-pull, as well as a black and white checkered removable sockliner, a nod to the Vans heritage.  Expect to see these around May at Supreme.

Had enough Supreme x Mike Carroll pics yet?

No?  Well then you’ve come to the right place!  Just got in my Supreme shipment today, and thought I’d have a little photoshoot.  Man, I think it’s time to step up my camera game.  This little ol’ Canon G6 just ain’t cuttin’ it anymore.  Time to give in and get a D-SLR.  Stick with Canon, or go with Nikon?

The History of Supreme x Vans Collaborations

It’s no secret that Vans and Supreme have a great history with each other.  Pumping out collections, multiple times a year, each very unique from the last.  Complex magazine has put together a little piece on the history of Supreme and Vans collaborations.  Check it out here.

Vans x Supreme – Old Skool 92 (A Closer Look!)

Next up, is the Supreme Old Skool for Spring/Summer 2011.  We only have a review for the white/red pair at the moment, but honestly, it’s the only colorway that may have any discrepancies from the press photos.  Every other color looks exactly the same as what you’ve seen online.  This white pair, however, seems to have more of a contrast between the pure white mesh, and the cream-colored suede, and that’s why I dug into my lace box, and pulled out some red Old Skool laces, that seem to fit the style much better.  THERE ARE NO RED LACES PROVIDED WITH THESE FROM SUPREME!…but they do come with black alternate laces.  These do not have removable sockliners, so fitment is the same as the Supreme snakeskin Old Skools, if you have those for reference, or any general release Old Skool.  These pics should help anyone get off that undecided fence!

Vans x Supreme – MC “Mike Carroll” (A Closer Look!)

Today, the iconic Mike Carroll signature shoe released at both U.S. Supreme retail locations, as well as online, and OTWS stays true to the Vans community, with the first close up shots of this release. Many of you who purchased online will be glad to know that these are true to the photos, in terms of shape and color.  The light blue color is slightly darker than the online press pics, but it’s a great looking color.  The tan is spot on, the same as the press pics. Some interesting things to mention for this Spring/Summer Vans release, is that Supreme has finally gotten their own custom box! Completely white, with their iconic box logo on the side, in about the same scale as their sticker. The sticker attached to the shoe also has a Supreme logo added. Both minor details, but it’s been a long time coming. Hopefully it carries on to future releases as well. The MC has a removable sockliner, and the fitment is the same as your standard half cab with the same removable insole. The shoe feels plush and comfy, with all that padding around the ankle, and tongue. Not much else to say, so just enjoy the pics!

The wait is finally over!  This Thursday, Supreme will be dropping the Mike Carroll signature shoe, online and in store.  Vans collectors, and fans of the early days of skateboarding can rejoice, after knowing that they have the opportunity to get their hands on a pair, thanks to Supreme.  Also, we get a first look of the light blue pair, that wasn’t previously leaked like the other colors.  Some people are on the fence about this shoe, and others just don’t get it at all.  That’s fine, it just makes it easier for the rest of us!  Thanks Supreme, sincerely OTWS!

Vans x Supreme Mike Carroll (Black colorway)

As we patiently wait for the Mike Carroll’s to drop, we now have another colorway that these will be offered in, to show you.  This black on black colorway is one of the original colorways the Mike Carroll was offered in, so it’s nice to see it return.  The best thing about the black soles, is that they don’t show wear and tear, like the white ones.  Stay tuned as we get more info on more Supreme releases.  It’s overwhelming!
