Erwin’s pickups: Vans Syndicate x Carhartt – Old Skool “New Style” “S” (Camo & Natural)

This latest collaboration between Vans Syndicate and Carhartt – WIP (Work In Progress) has the Vans community going nuts.  With their damn near European exclusivity, and alignment with the Vans “S” group, these are on their way to being one of the best Vans sneakers of 2012.  Being that OTWS is truly worldwide, with like-minded fanatics hunting down their favorite Vans, it was only a matter of time until one of our international members posted up that they got their pair(s).  We can almost always guarantee that our Netherlands brother, Erwin, will be on to contribute.  He was somehow able to source the Camo, and the Natural (white) pair, and now that the website has worked out their issues, he may be ordering the black from there as well.  Sorry, still no shipping to the USA!  You can really make out the material details, and the quality of the leather, twill and corduroy materials.  The details are just as good as any prior Vans x Carhartt release.  If you’re like most of us, and are trying desperately to source a pair, then keep your eyes and ears open on our forum, as we may have a member who comes across the info and is willing to share it.  Thanks for the pics Erwin!

Vans x Santa Cruz – Authentic Cruiser Deck

Check out this awesome Authentic Cruiser Board designed by Vans and  Santa Cruz skateboards.  Cut from the profile of a Vans Authentic sneaker, with the respective top and bottom print on each side of the deck.  It’s such a simple design, but damn it’s so dope!  It’s even got a signature red heel tab on the back edge!  Word first got around about this board, on Instagram, and there was a lot of speculation as to whether it was going to be strictly for promotional use, or if it was going to be an actual item for sale, and I’m here to deliver the good news that this is definitely a production item, and in fact a few are showing up around local Vans stores here in SoCal!  They’re only available as a complete, and the price is a pretty penny, at $129.99 + tax, but take into consideration that this is a Santa Cruz board, with OJ III Hot Juice Orange 60mm 78a wheels, and KRUX 8″ trucks, and that it’s not just some cheap generic item.  I won’t tell you where I got mine at, but put in some work and you’ll find yours as well!  Good luck, and happy hunting!

Vans LXVI – Inscribe – Black / Orange (Video Review by @samcolt12)

A lot of people are on the fence with the new LXVI series from Vans.  This is common whenever a new brand or sub-label emerges into the marketplace.  Vans is no stranger to the action-sports market that LXVI is aiming towards, but their approach is all new.  Partnering up with Foot Locker is an interesting strategy.  Trying to get the attention of a new consumer group is tough, but this is already a great start.  OTWS’ OG member, and resident video reviewer SamColt12 had recently won a raffle that Vans was holding for the LXVI series, and he was given a free pair of Inscribe’s.  He’s produced a short video review on the shoe, and has given some insight and opinions on the shoe, and the LXVI brand as a whole.  Check it out, and if you’re interested in purchasing these, then support OTWS and buy them through our links after the jump, by clicking on the pictures!

Vans – Half Cab Pro “20th Anniversary” MoFo by @samcolt12 (video review)

Vans x HKIT – Half Cab Pro “The Last Dragon” (Review!)

When news first broke about this release, we thought we were going to be assed out, but after digging a little deeper, I found out that HKIT had a Facebook page, and after reading a few comments on there, I saw that they were allowing orders through email.  I promptly typed up a request, and after a few Facebook comments, and multiple emails, I was able to place an order.  The downside was that these were only made up to a size 11, which I can still squeeze into, and thankfully these are Half Cab Pro’s, so if need be, I can swap out the removable sockliner!  The color blocking, and material choice is straight up dope!  There are lots of unique features on these, which makes for a great collab, such as the HKIT branding on the backside of the tongue.  Take note of the embossed Hong Kong inspired graphic on the heel, and you can’t forget the dragon scale material placed on the tongue, and rear panels of the shoe.  I also forgot to mention that the lace tips say HKIT on both pairs, one being a red round waxed lace, and the other a flat black waxed lace.  There is also a branded HKIT dust bag as well, for that finishing touch.  Enjoy the detailed pics, and if you want to place an order for these, then beware that they run about $120 shipped, but if you must have them, like I did, then shoot them an email or direct message over on their Facebook page.

Vans x Supreme x Campbell’s Soup Sk8-Hi & Half Cab – (Videos by @samcolt12)

Vans x Primitive – Half Cab Pro “Cable Knit” (Review)

So here they are. Finally. Think back to when you were a kid on Christmas morning…or your first day of Hannukah…or your birthday…or when you knew you were about to lose your virginity, or…huh? What? Oh, nevermind, sorry! That emotion never gets old. That’s exactly what I felt when I went out to my porch and saw a big box with a return address from Primitive. Now, I might sound biased after that little build up there, but I’m going to say that these will be the best Half Cab of the year. Yup, that’s right. THE BEST. Even with all of the 20th Anniversary models yet to come out, these have so many features that a proper collaboration should have. Unique materials? Check. Company branding? Check. A theme? Check. Something original? Check. You can tell these were designed by some sneakerheads, and that’s no secret.

The guys over at Primitive were sneaker collectors long before they opened their doors, and by knowing some friends, and having an envious network, they have made their success look easy. It doesn’t hurt to have the baddest models in the game showing off your product either! If you noticed though, this time they played down Shay Maria, and let the press photos focus more on the shoes, which was subconsciously making you pay attention to the details!

These Half Cab Pro’s couldn’t have come out more perfect. I love the cable knit wool sweater material, the metal Half Cab tag, and you can’t forget the custom printed footbed, inside tongue label, and heel tab. Did you even notice the satin lining? On point! These will be out tomorrow only at Primitive in Encino, and in Germany, and a few pairs will be put on their webstore as well.
