Vans, the original action sports brand and icon of creative expression, has teamed up with Breana Geering, one of the most talented skateboarders coming out of Canada’s of-the-moment skate scene, on a head-to-toe pack led by the Skate Old Skool.

Hailing from British Columbia, Breana has emerged as an influential force in skateboarding, gaining recognition for her calm, collected style, serious ledge skills, and flip in and flip out manual tricks. Recently, Vans Skateboarding talked to Breana and those closest to her about how she came up in the Vancouver skate scene and what’s shaped her journey along the way. Building on the momentum of the past few years, Vans and Breana came together this season to create a forward approach to footwear and apparel, combining wearable colors with a nod to gender neutrality.

Breana approached the collection by leveraging the timeless appeal of Vans Classics combined with subtle touches that showcase her personality: “I wanted it to be special and personal. I really made it my own by adding in some of my own little doodles to the back of the shoe and the insole. I really wanted to make a nice, simple shoe that people would be stoked to wear, to skate or to the bar.”

A similar wearable approach and color palette carries over into Breana’s apparel collection, designed to ensure that she can skate and move while wearing each piece.

Vans Skate – Grosso Forever (4.28.21)

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

To pay tribute to skate legend, historian, gatekeeper, and beloved Vans family member Jeff Grosso, and to mark his birthday, Vans is proud to announce a new Love Letters To Skateboarding episode solely featuring Jeff, complimented by the Grosso Forever collection.

Vans’ special birthday episode of Love Letters to Skateboarding celebrates Jeff’s life, in his own words, and was compiled by long time co-creators, Buddy Nichols and Rick Charnoski of Six Stair Productions. The episode illustrates Jeff’s raw, authentic and often-opinionated take on skateboarding that was captured during a decade of filming the series.

Jeff’s genuine love for skateboarding shined through in everything he said and did, and his support for the community–especially the up-and-coming generations—came from a true belief that skateboarding belonged to the kids. Gaining notoriety in the 1980’s within the competitive scene, he quickly became one of the most recognizable faces in skateboarding with the onset of skate videos that highlighted his skill along with his sardonic wit and audaciousness. Jeff was known for entertaining the masses with his self-deprecating humor and antagonistic spirit. In the span of his influence on the sport, however, Jeff became the unofficial skate historian, helping to create ten years of Vans’ Love Letters to Skateboarding with his unique and raw commentary on the industry.

“It’s you, your skateboard, and the world. So go out and make it your own.”
– Jeff Grosso

Jeff wore Vans for 50 years, and the Grosso Forever collection features iconic designs that he sported during formative moments in his early career. Royalties from this collection will go directly to Jeff’s son, Oliver.

Vans Skate x Dime – Skate Mid Skool (4.24.21)

Vans and Dime have teamed up once again to reimagine the Vans Skate Mid Skool. Featuring the Montreal-based brand’s signature yellow across three distinct colorways, the Skate Mid Skool comes to life with help from Dime’s ‘90s-skate-inspired style and nostalgic aesthetic.

An archival silhouette from Vans’ early years, the Skate Mid Skool leads the latest collection with Dime, featuring a mix of elevated suede and nylon, a translucent outsole and heel mustache, custom co-branded tongue label, and a debossed leather hangtag.

The Skate Mid Skool is offered in off-white, navy/white, and black/atlantic green, with Dime’s signature yellow running throughout the collection on the heel scab, sockliner, and the Vans x Dime custom shoebox.

Dime was born in 2005 out of a common thread between a group of skateboarders to exercise fun and creativity. Dime was established through its skateboarding video projects, becoming known for its humor and innovative concepts. In 2015, the Dime Glory Challenge presented by Vans elevated skateboarding events to a new standard with its uncompetitive style and broad, relatable appeal. Following the same ideologies, Dime opened its flagship store in Montréal and evolved its promotional merchandise into a clothing brand sold in finer skate retailers and fashion boutiques worldwide.

The Vans x Dime Skate Mid Skool is available April 24, 2021, at Dimemtl.com, and available April 27 at Vans Skateboarding retailers. For more information, visit Vans.com/Dime.

Vans x SE Bikes – 20″ P.K. Ripper (Summer 2021)

IMG_5155

SE Bikes just released a bunch of images of their Vans collab 20″ P.K. Ripper which is set to release this Summer, alongside the rest of the product that is coming out.  For this announcement, SE Bikes had shot a few pics with Perry Kramer, the BMX pro who the bike was originally made for back in the day, and where the “P.K.” gets it’s name from.  Limited to 250 bikes in the U.S.  This bike is amazing, has a ton of Vans custom pieces on it, including SE waffle grips and tires, pads, and maybe some other stuff I missed.  If anyone has a plug on one, let me know!  Not much more info as of yet, so just enjoy the pics!

Vans Skate x NJ Skateshop x Sayre & Fisher – “Red Brick” Collection (3.27.21)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_03_vans-nj-skateshop-slip-on-pro-half-cab-crockett-high-pro-collection-release-info-7

Words via NJ Skateshop & pics via Hypebeast:

“On March 20th, 2020, NJ Skateshop will celebrate the city of Sayreville with a Vans Skateboarding collection inspired by the iconic brick company that birthed the borough’s namesake, Sayre & Fisher.

In 2003 NJ Skateshop opened its original door at 389 Washington Road, Sayreville, New Jersey, the hometown of NJ’s owners, Steve Lenardo, Troy Jankowski and Chris Nieratko. As we well know, our town was one big clay pit before being named, Sayreville, in the 1860s after James R. Sayre Jr, one half of the Sayre & Fisher Brick Company.

Over the 120 years that the Sayre & Fisher Brick Company had been operational from 1850 to 1970 it became one of the largest brick manufacturing companies in the world, producing upwards of 6.2 billion bricks by 1950. The S & F Brick Co, built the base of the Statue of Liberty, as well as the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. Sayre & Fisher also baked the bricks used to build up every East Coast city from Richmond to Boston.

What most may not know is that some of the most iconic skateboard spots on the East Coast are made with Sayre & Fisher bricks. To pay homage to their first location where they remained for a decade until closing after Hurricane Sandy, as well as the S&F Brick Co and their skateboarding roots, NJ Skateshop partnered with the legendary footwear brand, Vans, to create an NJ Co shirt and three limited edition brick embossed suede skate shoes: The Half Cab. The Slip On Pro and The Gilbert Crockett Hi.

The shoes become available at NJ Skateshop in New Brunswick and Jersey City at 10 am March 20th online at the end of the day and at finer skate shops across America on March 27th.”

Vans Skate x Frog Skateboards – Old Skool Pro & Slip-On Pro (2.18.21)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_01_frog-skateboards-vans-old-skool-slip-on-release-date-1

Info via Hypebeast:

Frog Skateboards and Vans have teamed up for a playful collection of footwear and apparel. Centered around quirky takes on the Old Skool and Slip-On plus matching apparel, the capsule’s intentionally expressive graphic prints and detail hits are a colorful reminder of Frog’s guiding principles: having fun and being inclusive.

The Old Skool presents a no-frills all-black canvas and suede base with white contrast stitching, but this simple bottom layer is merely meant to serve as a background for the design’s signature embellishment: a series of pink, yellow, blue and green silicone charms — frogs, stars, moons, hearts and more — that runs across the length of the Jazz stripe. On the other end of the spectrum, the collection’s Slip-On uses a multi-colored pattern with everything from coffee cups to peace signs and “skate-boar-ds” spellout graphics. This fun-loving assemblage sits above a timeless green foxing stripe, and a white midsole rounds off the look.

Apparel consists of four different pieces. A short-sleeve woven shirt replicates the pattern and colors of the Slip-On, and a water-resistant black hoodie more in line with the Old Skool features a line drawing down the front plus vibrant charms on the back. A long-sleeve tee plasters a scribbled Frog graphic on its front, and women’s-specific offerings include a all-over checkerboard print “Baby” tee plus a special baseball cap.”

Look for the Frog Skateboards x Vans collection to release via the Vans webstore and retailers come February 18.

Vans Skate x Fucking Awesome – AVE Pro LTD (Available from @silostore on 12.10.20)

vans_faavepro1

Here’s something dope that’s been held under wraps pretty well.  Vans Skate has teamed up once again with Fucking Awesome, to deliver what some are saying is the perfect skate shoe.  It’s the latest signature model for Vans Pro Anthony Van Engelen, and debuting it as a collab with long-standing relationship brand Fucking Awesome, was definitely the move.  The shoe releases Thursday Dec. 10th, at a very few select retailers, like our friends Silo, who were gracious enough to let us steal their photos and write-up for the release.  Cop from them, if you plan to get these!

Official pics and info via Silo

For AVE, “good enough” isn’t good enough, so he worked with the Vans design team every step of the way, through innovative research, design and wear testing to create a shoe worthy of his name. Featured in premium suede with mesh paneling, the all-new AVE Pro is enhanced with Duracap™ reinforced underlays in high abrasion areas and RapidWeld™ no-sew technology that utilizes heat-fused upper panels for an extremely strong bond that’s more durable, flexible, and lighter than conventional stitching.

The pro model also features LuxLiner™ technology, integrating the tongue and internal lining for a more snug and consistent fit, along with a molded heel counter for additional structure and heel lock. The best feature lies in Vans’ all-new UltimateWaffle outsole featuring an internal shank to keep flex in the forefoot, built-in impact cushioning with a full length Ultracush midsole, and unrivaled grip to present a shoe that has a familiar Vans feel and flexibility with the comfort and protection of a modern construction.

Vans Skate x Quartersnacks – Old Skool Pro & Lampin Pro (Available Now!) via @silostore

vans_qsnacks-box

Vans Skate teams up with Quartersnacks to create this awesome collaboration.  Choosing to go with the time-tested Old Skool Pro, as well as the not as often seen, Lampin Pro.  Both pairs feature a premium tumbled leather, one in White, and the other in Blue.  The same tennis ball yellow terrycloth lining can be found on both shoes, as well as a debossed “25” logo on the rears of each shoe.  The standout feature has to be the extra-wide multi-colored woven laces, which is a nice alternative for those looking for a little more pop.  We’re also hyped to see that these came with a cool accessory, like tons of cool Vans used to have back in the day, which is one of those small rubber coin clasp pouches you used to see at the local water park as a kid.  Quartersnacks included it, in case you were trying to start a savings account, lol.  I gotta say, it’s always nice to see something new and unique come out every once in awhile, and these are definitely all that.

Look for these at select Vans skate dealers, like our friends at Silo.  Both pairs MSRP for $75.
