Well here they are! The shoe all the kids have been running around frantically trying to score, some successful, while others a day late and a dollar short of their own local sneaker reseller! I don’t think there has been a more underestimated release for Vans, in a long long time, than the Vans Syndicate x Odd Future Old Skool Pro “S”. People still aren’t quite sure how to point out the demographic for this fan base, but one thing’s for sure, it’s a large fuckin’ fan base! To tell you the truth, most of us Vans sneaker collectors, mostly older guys, copped these purely from a collector’s standpoint. Not taking anything away from the shoe’s design though, because Tyler “created” one of the best Old Skools I’ve seen in a long time. The color combo is instantly recognizable, and I’m already a fan of the gum sole, so when I saw the early pics of these, I knew I was going to end up with at least one or two. There’s definitely a core skater vibe to these. Something most skaters can gravitate to. It’s not over the top with crazy materials, or wild colors, yet the embroidered “GOLF WANG” on the heel, and the OFWGKTA kitties on the footbed and backside of the tongue are just the right amount of Odd Future needed for a dope collab, without turning away us regulars. The all over suede is premium, and is just perfect. Smooth. Quality. Durable. What else can I say?! The collar lining has this unfamiliar material, that feels like leather, but it isn’t. It’s sort of like a nubuck, or even some synthetic moisture-wicking material. Soft is what it is!
As always, I’ve snapped a few detailed pics for y’all. I’ve laced each pair up in both laces that came with each shoe, and if you want to get wild, you can probably lace swap between colorways, since these colors seem to compliment each other very well. Hope to kick you off the fence about these, whichever direction that is!

Wow. What a fucking awesome event that transpired last Thursday! I had to just walk away from the blog, and just sit back and reflect on this shit a little bit. I’m not even sure I’m prepared to write out everything my mind wants to say, while I sit here at 1 AM in front of my computer. I know y’all been waiting for an update. Some pics. Anything! I hope you’ve been checking out the #waffurusoru hashtag feed on Instagram, because there’s over 300 photos, all documenting the event. It was more than any of us could’ve ever imagined it to be, and we owe it to the artists for making it happen. Thank you all. We hope you stay in touch, and continue to provide awesome art for any future events. There were 49 artists in all, some contributing more than one piece, so we definitely had the walls busting at the seams with some dope Vans related art. There was so much diversity, and style for days. If you didn’t know it already, that’s the essence of Vans, and they don’t just cater to athletes, hipsters, or sneakerheads. They cater to everybody, perhaps even your grandparents. My Dad’s a grandparent, and he wears Vans on the daily! I’m proud of what has been created here with this event, and I knew it was going to be something special. I just didn’t know it was going to be more than that.
I wanna thank Yojie for allowing us to utilize them, and their space, and their network as well. Together, we Voltron’d this motherfucka! Our supporters came through and allowed us to give away some great stuff to our attendees, while others made product specifically for our event! Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you!!! Our exclusive Silver/Purple “Bones” snapback was a hit, and we have listed up a few remaining ones for sale on our OTWS webstore. We will also list up some remaining prints when I can, for those of you who couldn’t be in attendance, but wanted to grab a piece from the show. Keep checking back for those!

Just wanted to give a reminder that our art exhibition, along with Yojie Japanese Fondue Diamond Bar, will be starting next Thursday, June 6th, 2013, from (8pm-12am). Yes, that’s 6/6, the same symbol “66” that is iconic to Vans, being that was the year they started out. We didn’t plan it that way, it just worked itself out like that! Save the date, and come hang out, and drink it up, listen to our homies spin our favorite music, look at some awesome Vans inspired art, rare kicks, and get some free stuff, as well as be able to purchase some limited edition stuff, exclusive to the event opening.
