Vans OTW Presents: Time & Space – Morning Breath Pt.1 (video)

Words via Hypebeast:

“As Brooklyn-based art studio Morning Breath prepared for its recent art show “Manos Extranos” (strange hands), Vans OTW was on hand to capture the excitement and mounting pressure. The show took place at the White Walls gallery in San Francisco, California, and was an exhibition of paintings comprised of silk screens and freehand work, the results of which are visually stunning. Luckily as viewers, this video allows us to see a lot of the processes and hard work that went into each piece, even if it means that artist Doug “retires” halfway through every show. Based on these paintings, we hope his threats continue to be nothing more than bluffs.”

New Vans Arrivals @Silostore (10/20/11)

The homie Brant over at Silo has just received shipment from Vans, with a ton of new models and colorways for you all.  There’s a mixture of some new releases from OTW, by way of the Ludlow, and the Howell.  There’s also a new core model dubbed the “Type II”, which is a hybrid of a Chukka Low, as well as some other unfamiliar design.  Very sharp.  There’s also a few classic goodies for you purists out there, by way of a Chukka 79 Pro, and a Chukka Low, both designed for the colder months.  The Chukka 79 Pro is constructed of military inspired wool and leather, while the Chukka Low is constructed of black canvas, with a gumsole, and plaid wool lining.  The Arcata is also finally here, a modified Versa mid, with an elastic padded ankle collar.  The navy is wrapped in smooth suede, while the tan model is constructed with waxed canvas, also part of their all weather pack.  The last model they received, is the Half Cab.  The gray pair is constructed entirely in suede, with round hiking laces, and a thermal lining, which is also part of the all weather pack, and the black pair is the supertuff model that has been available for some time now.  Hit up Brant for these babies, and tell him OTWS sent you!

Vans OTW x Mr. Cartoon – Alomar

Mr. Cartoon is the next advocate from Vans OTW to get his own shoe, and it’s about time.  We’ve known for awhile that a shoe was in the works, but that’s all the info that existed.  Today, we’ve learned that the Alomar was his shoe of choice, and we can now give you a first look at the Mr. Cartoon Alomar.  Dressed up in a navy blue nubuck leather with plaid lining, and gold accents for the eyelets, and gold embroidered lettering, and logos, inspired by his tattoo artwork that he’s known around the world for.  You can catch a large cursive “C” with some nice filigree on the side panel of the shoe.  You can also see a clown logo on the tongue, and a cross on the heel pull, which are both seen a lot in Cartoon’s work, influenced by Southern California’s Latin culture, and their specific artistic style, whether it’s in the form of an airbrushed hood of a lowrider, or a full back piece tattoo.  You can say he’s one of a few advocates that brought Latino art to the masses, even if he hasn’t been given the title!  You can expect these to release soon, so stay with OTWS for any new info!

Vans OTW – Bedford (Holiday 2011)

The Bedford is back for the Holiday 2011 season, decked out in some clean seasonal colorways, that match practically anything.  Available in 2 new colorways: Grey/Wine, and Black/Blue, while the Brown/Gum, and Black/Pewter colorways carry over from the Fall season.  As always with the OTW team, they like to mix up the materials for each model, and so far the suedes, canvas, and nubucks seem to match well with their chosen color.  These should be out, starting around next week.

Vans OTW – Alomar (Holiday 2011)

Here’s a first look at the Holiday 2011 Alomar from the Vans OTW Collection.  The Alomar takes styling cues from the Classic Chukka Boot and infuses those subtleties with the fashionable aspects of a modern, slimmed down high top to create a shoe that pushes the boundaries between skate and street fashion.  The line up has two new colorways – grey suede/gum sole and black nubuck/antique sole combos, while the blue nights/croc and crazy black/waxy canvas colorways from Fall 2011 carry over to complete the upcoming season’s offerings of the Alomar.  Look for these some time next week.

Thanks to Chris from OTW, for the heads up!

Vans OTW – The Art of Lettering by Mr. Cartoon

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans OTW and Mr. Cartoon proudly present the Art of Lettering, a limited edition book featuring Cartoon’s personal photography, published by Eric Elms/And Press. The first in a series of forthcoming projects from Vans OTW advocates including Cartoon, Elms, Dimitri Coste and The Blackouts, the book was created in conjunction with Mr. Cartoon’s “Art of Lettering” seminar held in Los Angeles this summer. The seminar featured Cartoon discussing how lettering has impacted his life – from graffiti art to vintage sign painting and modern day low rider script as well as illustration airbrushing and his concepts of tattooing. A limited run of 818 books is now available at select OTW retailers worldwide.”
