Vans Japan has once again teamed up with Japanese retailer Beauty & Youth on another Vans shoe, this time choosing the Chukka Boot.  They’ve decided to go with Harris Tweed all over, in a brown, and a gray colorway, which fits right in line with the Winter season upon us.  So whether you study at Oxford, or you privately investigate crimes with a big magnifying glass, these should be perfect for you!  Oh wait, I forgot to mention that these are a Japan exclusive, like all Beauty & Youth Vans, duh!  You should’ve known by now!

This time they worked on a great collaboration for Fall 2012, giving the Authentic and the Slip-On, two Vans classics, the Harris Tweed treatment. Both sneakers are covered in different Harris Tweed wool patterns with interesting panel design.

Matching the sneakers, Beauty & Youth also produced a 59Fifty and a 8-Panel New Era cap. Look out for a release of the sneakers and the caps in the coming weeks.”  Exclusive to Japan!

They all represent the gradients of day and night over natural landscape; red being sunrise and brown being the sunset, both over touches of blue, and the the predominant blue colorway being the sun and clouds of the landform. These are to be released next month on August 11.”

430 BMX Connection x Vans Summer 2012 Pack

Vans Japan has once again teamed up with 430 BMX Connection out of Japan.  This time they’ve decided to go with a few new models, as well as the Era which they’ve done for the past 2 collaborations.  The two new models are the Sk8-Mid, and a slipper.  Done up in a tonal navy canvas, featuring small accents of bright red.  Both shoe models sit on top of an all white sole, with a double-wide tonal foxing stripe.  The slipper is quite interesting as well, featuring an entirely red bottom sole.  Each pair also features a custom insole, complete with 430 brand logos.  Pretty dope!  These will be available only in Japan, in June.

Vans Japan x BEAMS – Authentic “Van Doren” (Japan Only)

Why is it that Japan gets so many cool Vans exclusives?  I believe it has something to do with their passion for culture, whether it’s their own, or there ability to embrace other cultures with a level of detail that nobody else can.  This release pays homage to the original Vans shoe, the Authentic, constructed in the exact same shape and style as the original, using the same blue, black, and blue/yellow canvas colorways as well.  They even went as far as putting the triple-stitch on the heel, and the leather heel pad on the sockliner.  The heel tab says Van Doren just like the now vintage pairs do, and the only give away that these aren’t the original Made in USA pairs, is the use of the new VFC rubber, which some OTWS members despise!  More on that, can be dug up in the forums, but that’s neither here nor there.  The packaging is also finished off in the original Van Doren design as well.  These are a great replica to the originals, and the Japanese consumers will certainly be lucky to have these, and I know they’ll understand the significance of them.  These are being sold exclusively through BEAMS retail stores, throughout Japan as well as online now.

Vans x XLARGE – Old Skool “Tropical Camouflage” (Japan Only)

Wow, check out these sick Old Skools from XLARGE and Vans!  Part of XLARGE’s “Tropical Camouflage” capsule collection, I assume these will accompany some apparel as well.  Notice the tiger camo detail on the side of the shoes, and that it’s all embroidered.  XLARGE added their own flavor to a probably over-done camo print, by adding fruits into it, thus making for an unmistakeable shoe.  As with most XLARGE x Vans collabos, these will be an overseas exclusive, so unless you know someone crafty with the Japanese websites, you’ll be stuck paying resellers pricing if any happen to show up!

Vans x Pacific Coast Highway – First Ever Skateboard Deck (Japan Only!)

Isn’t it hard to believe that Vans, a company that’s been rooted in skateboarding since the late 60’s, has never made their own skateboards?  Well, that’s of course until now, when Pacific Coast Highway, a skateboard division, of Japanese apparel label Jackson Matisse came along and changed that!  What’s even more interesting, is that this deck is being made in the same factory which produces the Zip Zinger boards, thus giving it the same shape and concave design as them.  These won’t be out until July, but if you know anyone in Japan who can order on Japanese rakuten sites, then you can place a preorder from Riffle Page 2nd.
