Vans Japan x Beams x Santa Cruz x Jim Phillips – “Screaming Hand” Slip-On (12.19.15)

vans-classic-slip-on-santa-cruz-jim-phillips-screaming-hand-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“Iconic skate artist Jim Phillips has long been associated with Santa Cruz thanks to the brand’s ubiquitous Phillips-penned “Screaming Hand.” Now two classics are set to come together as the hand decorates the California-based brand’s new collaboration with Vans: a special edition Classic Slip-On. Decked out in black leather and canvas, the kicks see the motif repeated in blue around the heel as matching leather lines the shoe. The graphic even appears in oversized form, housed within the shoe’s icy outsole. Finished with matching custom packaging, the special “Screaming Hand” Slip-On will hit BEAMS T in Harajuku December 18 as the store celebrates the 30th anniversary of the graphic.”

Vans x Mooneyes – Custom Hand-Pinstriped Slip-On by Hiro “Wildman” Ishii (Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show 2015) #HCS2015

slipon-1

This weekend will mark the 24th annual Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show in Yokohama, Japan, and Mooneyes’ very own Hiro “Wildman” Ishii will be there, putting on a pin-striping demonstration on some leather Slip-Ons, but this year he is going to be selling them, allowing a select few to get their very own custom shoe done by him.  This is more of an art piece, so each person will only be receiving one shoe.  According to the translated version of the Vans Japan page, Hiro will also be taking orders for these at the event, perhaps so he can produce more after the event is over.  These are absolutely stunning, and a great idea!  Too bad it’s only for the Japan Vans heads!  (They will also be giving out free Vans pinstripe stickers to those who visit the booth)

Vans Japan x Deluxe – Old Skool Zip (Japan Exclusive!)

deluxe-vans-zip-old-skool-001

Japanese luxury brand Deluxe has collaborated with Vans Japan in the past, and it looks like they’re back again with an interesting take on the Old Skool Zip.  The first feature to stand out is the utilization of a water-resistant tape seam zipper, ready for the winter.  The second unique feature that sets these apart from the norm, is the perforated jazz stripes.  Deluxe went with a tonal black, and a tonal white colorway for this release, which seems to be all the rage this year.  If you’re looking for a pair of these, then you better get your proxies in order.

“Japanese brand FDMTL teams up with Vans in a very special 10-year anniversary collaborative effort. Using Japanese traditional aesthetics in patchwork production, FDMTL overlays the entire silhouette of both the Slip-On and Era models with Okayama-sourced indigo blue fabrics, with a subtle contrast in yarn and embroidery choices. Custom outer tag and insoles add a nice touch that complement a box specifically created for the project.”

Vans Japan x White Mountaineering – Slip-On (Winter/Spring 2015)

white-mountaineering-x-vans-classic-slip-on-2

Vans Japan teams up again with White Mountaineering to bring you this awesome Slip-On right here.  They’ve taken the classic “aloha parrot” floral print, seen on countless Vans models over the past few years, and have re-imagined it into an actual photo image graphic.  So subtle, yet original!  The blue tones in the print, give just enough contrast to make out each object, and the execution is perfect.  There is also very subtle branding on the heel panel, as well as the inside footbed.  Too bad these are only going to be available in Japan!

Vans Japan x Sophnet – Sk8-Hi Zip-Up Navy (Japan Only!)

sophnet-vans-sk8-hi-zip-up-05-570x471

Sophnet is back with the sophomore release of their Sk8-Hi Zip Up, this time in a navy/white colorway.  As you may recall, they did this design a few years back in a black/white colorway, which was awesome and original, and still is to this day.  Vans has seemed to dabble with the rear zipper in their general release lineups, but the side ankle zipper is still pretty much a Sophnet-exclusive.  The insole features their custom printed scorpion logo, and there is the same Sophnet flag hangtag sewn into the side of the upper.  These are a Japan exclusive, so hit up your overseas connects for these Co.JP Sk8-Hi’s!
