DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Inspired by the ongoing movement of footwear reconstruction, Vans designers continue to offer aspirational interpretations of the Era, Classic Slip-On and Old Skool. For the latest drop of the season, Vans dresses these three icons through the DIY and cobbled footwear aesthetic to introduce the Overply assortment set to hit shelves beginning now.

The Overplay pack kicks off with the Era, which is layered with navy-hued canvas and leather. The monochromatic eyelets and handstitched detailing creates a sleek construction but through the lens of DIY design. The Old Skool offers heavy black canvas uppers that are complimented by a black leather Sidestripe and overlay stitched atop the vamp. For the final design, the Classic Slip-On uses blanc de blac cotton canvas and leather accented with an intricately stitched sk8 quarter detailing on the toe. Each silhouette is finished with a veggie tanned leather rand, smooth sidewalls and a sawtooth sole.

The Overply pack will be available to shop on Vans.com, Vans retail stores and dealers worldwide.

Vans – Origami Pack (Available Now)

SP20_Classics_Origami_Lineup_Origami_ElvLineup1-

Rooted in a DIY culture that continues to push outside the traditional footwear framework, Vans introduces the Era and Classic Slip-On Origami. Drawing inspiration from sculptural artworks Vans offers an abstract look by adding overlays using interesting and unexpected materials atop two of the brand’s Classic Icons.

Vans’ original skate shoe, the Era has been remastered in three colorways including an all-black monochromatic execution which sees the suede uppers decorated with pony hair appliques across the upper and heel. A second iteration of the Era juxtaposes color, material and texture including white suede uppers complimented with oversized crocodile embossed suede at the toe and heel. Atop the upper is a purple suede applique with clashing reptilian texture and a pink materialization which overlaps on the heel. A third Era mixes Vans’ most iconic print, the Checkerboard, overlaid with black pony hair. Rounding out the Origami Pack is Vans Classic Slip-On which combines two of the brand’s most popular colorways, black suede and Checkerboard pony hair into a single design execution.

With all experiences, sometimes things go sideways—and that’s when the real adventure begins. And, it’s when you need reliable support. With this in mind, Vans developed the new UltraRange EXO, a shoe that would not only stand up to the journey but keep you comfortable in the most uncomfortable of situations.

The latest evolution of Vans’ go-anywhere UltraRange, the UltraRange EXO is an all-around upgrade designed to deliver prolonged comfort, reliable grip and increased durability. To highlight the latest collection, photographer Matthew Correia followed creative expressors – visual artist John Zabawa, musician Lee-Ann Curren, visual artist Upendo and photographer Jennifer Bin — through the streets of Lisbon and Jakarta, capturing the unplanned moments along the way.

This season, a breathable, deconstructed, Old Skool-inspired upper gets reinforced with a molded heel to eliminate heel slippage. The redesigned co-molded UltraCush® Lite midsole and full rubber-wrapped reverse waffle lug outsole maximize traction, grip and durability while maintaining lightweight versatility. And the all-new, EXO skeleton provides built-in support across the toes and medial sidewall, with a heel lock for a secure fit and UltraCush® tongue with breathability ports for superior airflow.

With superior traction, all-day comfort and a durable construction, the all-new UltraRange EXO is the ultimate shoe for those on the move.

The UltraRange EXO is available now by clicking on the pic above.

VANS Sk8-Hi – CUT IN HALF (Video Review by Rose Anvil)

Check out this dope video by Rose Anvil, who make fine leather goods, where they dissect a general release version of the Sk8-Hi, by cutting it in half, exposing all of the layers that make up the insole, and the uppers of the entire shoe.  This type of stuff is always fascinating to me, and just figured I’d share it with y’all.

SP20_Classics_VN0A4BTWVLV_Sk8Hi_Stacked_CheckTruWht_Pair

Vans kicks off the New Year and brings back the Stacked Pack showcasing an elevated take on the brand’s time-honored footwear silhouettes.  The latest installment of the Stacked Pack includes four of Vans’ Classic styles reinterpreted with a platform construction and dressed in an oversized rendition of Vans’ iconic Checkerboard pattern.

The hero of the assortment comes from the Era Stacked, which is an elevated version of the classic silhouette designed with an exaggerated platform layered with gum rubber at the toe bumper and heel counter and coupled with a sawtooth outsole. The Sk8-Hi and Old Skool take on the overstated outsole and are each complimented by suede uppers and accented with a full grain leather Sidestripe. The Vans Classic Slip-On completes the four-piece offering with an all-over execution of the reworked heritage print and the two-inch platform outsole.

Vans – Mismatch Pack (Available Now!)

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Words via Vans:

It doesn’t get much more classic than the Vans Era. The world’s first skate shoe designed by skateboarders was introduced as the Vans #95 in 1976 with a padded collar, two-tone color options and waffle outsole providing skateboarders both the style and function they craved. When one shoe blew out from riding, skateboarders from Dogtown could walk into the family-run Vans stores to replace one shoe with any color of their choosing leaving with a mix and matched pair of the Vans Era. This unknowingly ignited the creative style that can only come from skate culture. For the forthcoming spring season, Vans builds on that legacy with the Mismatch Era to celebrate the time-honored silhouette through a contemporary interpretation.

Today, the Era remains the choice for skaters, surfers and creatives worldwide with its versatile construction and unique material combinations. By mix and matching seasonal colors and prints on the left and right shoe of its Classic silhouettes, Vans brings to life the early days of Vans’ family run business. The Era leads the pack as the original mismatch form blending blue canvas with camo on the left shoe and pink canvas and zebra print on the right. The Mismatch styling will also be offered on the Classic Slip-On which features a subdued take on the trend, while the Style 36 is complimented with opposing laces and Sidestripes.”
