Vans – Switchback (Fall 2012)

What started out as a new model from the highly limited Vans Vault team, the Switchback then graduated to the slightly wider available California line.  That’s sort of how we judge the popularity of new models from Vans, as we’ve seen quite a few models move on up the ranks, but not many make it to the general release line.  That’s pretty much reserved for the classics, and the core skate models.  The Switchback features enough classic Vans cues, but with an entirely different look and shape than what the average consumer is used to seeing.  Obviously the shoe is popular, otherwise I don’t think it would’ve ended up this far.  Only time will tell, though!  These babies are available in two colors:  Black with blue accents, and Brown with red accents.  The usual hiking boot laces are present, as well as the reversed waffle tread, for extra grip when you’re doing your outdoor activities.  Available now at the Vans store and online for $70.  What do you think about these heading to the GR line?

Vans Classics – Era Wingtip (Fall 2012)

For the Fall season, the team responsible for the Classics line sold at most Vans stores and retail accounts has designed another wingtip Era.  This time it will be available in a Red, or Black colorway, constructed in suede, with a premium leather wingtip and heel panel.  They feature the typical perforated diamond design found on any typical wingtip shoe.  Both pairs sit on top of all white soles, with contrasting white round waxed laces and lace eyelets.  These will be out soon, so sit tight!

LXVI – The Future (Available 6.28.12)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Since its inception in 1966, Vans has become one of the foremost players within the world of action sports apparel and footwear. Having seen many successes with the roll out of brand extensions such as Vans OTW and the Vans California Collection, as well as higher tiers such as Vans Vault and Vans Syndicate, the iconic brand introduces its latest collection, Vans LXVI (pronounced “Vans 66″). Decidedly forward-thinking in its approach, the Vans LXVI line aims to bring an added focus towards action sports lifestyle to a demographic that perhaps is untapped thus far in regards to its brand’s reach. Setting its sights on building a bridge to younger consumers who would not be considered “core” skateboarders or actions sports participants per se, the initial introduction of six new construction technologies makes comfort and wearability of paramount importance. While specific information is still forthcoming, the new collection will roll out an initial five innovative footwear designs: Graph, Secant, Inscribe, Variable and Ortho. Stay tuned for more information on the comprehensive collection and direction via the new Vans LXVI website, with an expected roll out beginning June 28, 2012.”

Vans x Spitfire – AV Native American Low (Available now)

Vans has once again teamed up with Spitfire wheels to create some awesome Vans shoes.  For this season, they’ve done a few models, but this one’s pretty interesting.  They’ve taken the classic Native American model and chopped it down into a low top hybrid, getting most of it’s looks from the AV Sk8-Low.  I must say that this one works pretty well with the chosen contrast stitching and color-blocking.  The official colorway is Black/Flame Red, and is constructed primarily in black suede, with a red canvas with little Spitfire logos all over it.  The footbed also features Spitfire branding as well.  Are these a must cop?

Vans x The Skateboarder Magazine (Official Release)

We’ve been anticipating the release of the Vans x Skateboarder Magazine pack.  Paying homage to the classic styles and colors that were popularized amongst the skate community back in the day.  This pack consists of an Era, Old Skool, and my favorite, the Mid Skool ’77.  The colors are just too dope.  By the way, if you’re used to sizing up on most of your Mid Skools, then stay true to size on this release, because I ordered an early pair off of Vans.com and they definitely run smaller than your typical pair.  What gives, Vans?!  Anyways, go out and cop yourself a pair.  These should start hitting your local Vans dealers soon.

Vans – Half Cab Pro “20th Anniversary” – Mofo (June 2012)

It’s a new month, and that means it’s time to see the next Half Cab to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the beloved shoe, created by legend himself, Steve Caballero.  For June, we start getting into the artist series, co-designed by respected artists, and photographers, like this pair designed by Mörizen Föche, better known as Mofo.  If you’ve never heard of him before, then it may be interesting to know that he was one of the guys who started Thrasher Magazine, taking on the responsibilities of photographer, photo editor, and graphic designer.  The reason he was given the opportunity to design one of the few 20th Anniversary Half Cab’s is because, well, you see that iconic Half Cab silhouette on the side and tongue of every pair you have?  That’s Steve Caballero.  Oh, and that was taken from an original photo that MoFo shot, so yeah, he had a major part in the shoe’s iconic “image”.  Literally.

The shoe is constructed entirely in black suede, while sitting on top of a white vulcanized sole with black foxing stripe.  Being that this is a Pro model, it features the Duracap reinforced toe, and the removable padded sock liner.  For this release, we get to see the new Pro heel tab utilized, which is a small, but awesome new feature.  The Half Cab logos were given a more photo-like appearance, to commemorate MoFo, and his contribution to the skateboarding world.  This is an awesome tribute, and I’m looking forward to see the rest as the year moves on!  These are now starting to show up at your local Vans stores, and select Vans accounts

You can purchase them after the jump by clicking on the picture.

Vans x Hello Kitty Collection (Available now!)

The initial Hello Kitty collaboration with Vans was wildly successful, and Vans would be foolish to not keep a good thing going like this.  Well, there hasn’t been much press info about this year’s collection, but Undefeated has just received their first shipment of Hello Kitty Vans.  A few Slip-Ons for the kiddos have shown up, but the attention grabbing Sk8-Hi, with the familiar black canvas with HK heads all over print is going to be the must cop for the ladies, this season.  The shoe comes complete with the signature red bow on the top of the shoe, which is a trademark identifier amongst the Hello Kitty fanatics worldwide!

Note, that these most likely are an in-store release, but your local Vans store should be getting their shipments very soon!  Call up Undefeated Silverlake to see what they have for you!
