The Vans Classics team has brought back one of my favorites, the Mid Skool 77 with a brand new suede makeover in two new colorways, Bright Cobalt/Marshmallow, and Paloma/Andorra. Sitting on top of a standard vulcanized sole, each model is built with a soft suede upper, canvas tongue, and supple leather accents for a nice contrast in material use. “Vans has also set the pace for its Classic range Half Cab styles for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 season with the introduction of a “Tiger Camo” iteration. The Half Cab version — offered up as a preview at the ongoing Agenda Show Long Beach — arrives as a single model within a trio of releases that the iconic 1966 brand is planning to debut. As the title implies, the pair boasts a heavy presence of traditional tiger camouflage throughout the majority of the upper with hits of contrasting solid black throughout. Black laces, a black and white embroidery tag on the side panel and black interior lining finish things out. Expect these to begin hitting select Vans Classic stockists beginning in the beginning of next year.”

Vans Classics – Nordic Chukka 79 (Available now!)

“Vans releases two new colorways for its Chukka 79 silhouette as part of what the brand calls its “Nordic” range. The Chukkas, available in brown and black colorways, are each equipped with Nordic-stlye embroidery along the sides, and are paired with off-white and classic white vulcanized soles respectively. Although the shoe’s styling tends to keep these on reserve until it gets a little colder, these brightly colored iterations pair well with shorts for the summer.”
