We are extremely excited to announce, along w/ Sole Assassins (@soleassassins), and Footage by Thecoolshoeshine (@footage_official), that we’ll be hosting a bi-monthly “collecticon” if you will we’ve named, “Consortium Co-Lab” at the new Footage Air Space (@footageairspace) located next door to the Footage Shop in Brea, CA.

We invite all collectors to come BUY, SELL, and TRADE all things collectible, such as sneakers, toys, art, records, pins, and everything in between!

Footage consignors also have the option to pay for their vendor fees or make purchases from the event using consigned items as collateral! So join us and help create a grassroots community created by some of the biggest nerds in the game….US!

This will be an all-ages gathering every other Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM launching on the 8th of November. Limited tables are available, so please inquire by emailing us @ consortiumcolab@gmail.com. “The return to icons isn’t just a trend for Vans, it’s part of the history of the almost 50 years young and original action sports brand from California.
From August 21st, Vans presents a special exhibtion in the Sneakermuseum Cologne in cooperation with the local sneaker shop The Good Will Out and the Skateboardmuseum Berlin. The installation will be themed “This is the Sk8-Hi – Style #38” according to the Vans iconic model, which will also be the title of the event.

The exhibition opening will be celebrated in a get-together on Friday, August 21st, from 6 p.m. onwards. Cologne has always been an important center for Vans because of its skate, BMX and social culture. It’s the perfect place to pay tribute to the iconic model and to bring alive the “Van Doren spirit”. The Sk8-Hi stands for good times, festivals in the rain, parties, skate and BMX tours, plummeting and escalations, but maybe also for exam stress and presentations as well as aging and still staying young… the shoe is living culture.

In 1978 Vans designed its first high top lace-up shoe under the lead of Paul van Doren: Style#38, to be known later as the Sk8-Hi. The new silhouette took the functionality in BMX and skateboarding to a new level as the shoe covers the ankle, the most affected body part of skaters and BMX riders. Not only did the Sk8-Hi bring progress in performance, but it also introduced a new look to the era. Established for generations in the action sports culture the Sk8-Hi has become an icon of the worldwide fashion and streetwear culture. Collaborations with Metallica, KISS, The Prodigy, The Beatles and Disney as well as designs by street wear fashion designer Wtaps, Stüssy or Supreme are just a couple of highlights in Sk8-Hi’s history. Till today the Sk8-Hi is part of the Core-Classics line that expresses what Vans stands for: classic & timeless! On show at the exhibition, will be ‘never seen before’ version of the Sk8-Hi, highlighting its rich heritage.

Curator Jürgen Blümlein from Skateboardmuseum Berlin, as well as collector Henry Davies from THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PILLOW in London will pass on their knowledge of the brand and will be available for interviews on the opening day. This exhibition is free entry”.

The Happiest Place On Earth. There isn’t a better way to describe the thoughts and feelings I walked away with after the fun-filled all-day event put on by Disney and Vans this past Thursday. They pulled out all the stops for this event, and I am deeply honored and greatly humbled that I was able to partake in all of the festivities, and hang out with some great people that also do great things in the sneaker world, at a much much more higher level than I do.

For one night only, artist Thibaut « MEKA » Désiront will settle at Espace OTH, the art gallery of the owners of doewntown boutique Off The Hook. His solo art exhibition, named « Push », contains two dozen paintings on hard wood, as well as a dozen other pieces of art, all of them exploring the common themes of inspiration, positivity, and surpassing oneself – an organic follow-up to his famous Keep Pushing series.

« Every piece from this show related to striving to be better, to push your own limits – either via designs influenced by inspiring quotes, or by the icons who’ve pushed me to create, discover, exchange or make experiences, since I was a kid. »

Eric will be in-store from 4PM to 9PM, doing some in-store tattooing for the BTNC friends & family, but rejoice! One lucky raffle winner will win a free tattoo from Eric Dressen! Heads Up: Bait & OTWS “California Native” Art Exhibition is still on display @baitme !

Just a friendly reminder that our art exhibition is still up at Bait in Diamond Bar, so if you didn’t get to see the awesome installation we put together, along with all of our awesome friends who created some awesome art for the show. First off, I want to say thank you to each and every one of you that came out to support us last Thursday evening. Our successful opening night couldn’t have been done without a crowd! The California Native show is off and running, currently on display at Bait’s flagship store in Diamond Bar, and if you’re anywhere near DB in the next 3 weeks or so, stop in, and head up stairs to check out the awesome art installation, including some of my own personal Vans collection. To be honest, I only host these art shows so I can display my shoes, haha! I’d also like to thank our network of artists for coming through on this event with some awesome pieces for us all to see. It always amazes me, to see different people’s perspectives on our set themes, and to see their unique and talented styles. We’re not worthy to get the level of quality in the art we have been so lucky to receive, but we will proudly accept it and display it out of pure gratitude, if not for anything else.

Please do yourselves a favor and make it a point to come out and visit Bait on a free day, and see what I am trying to poorly put into words for you all. The show was scheduled to run for 2 weeks, but it may run longer now, as their art gallery calendar has opened up recently. Also, if you’ve never been in to Bait before, prepared to be blown away by the awesome vinyl toy collection that is on display. I think it’s safe to say that it’s the largest display of a personal collection (most for sale by the way) in the country, and possibly the world! It’s awe-inspiring, and from what I heard, we drew a bunch of first timers to the shop that night, and plenty of jaws were dropping once they set foot into the store. Don’t forget, Bait carries all of your favorite brand name apparel, and their sneaker selection has been growing as well, with some pretty exclusive stuff to top it off.

Lastly, thank you to Marc, Matt, and Eric at Bait, for working with us, and allowing us to do this. Ryan, Dennis, and I look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, and we have a gang of ideas that we can run with! Please take the time to look through all of the photos after the jump, and spread the word! Thank you.
