Check out this new custom model from our friend, and sneaker customizer, “theMenace“. A Sk8-Hi done up in raw denim, these are “supreme”! These are going to be limited to 6 pairs, on a first come first serve order basis.
A few words from “theMenace”,
“Simply put, this model is for the denim connoisseurs; the ones who size down, soak and wear their “second skin” religiously. Those with just a few favorite pairs on rotation, the individuals who have reached and often surpass the ever more used ” 6 months no wash ” phrase. Denim is one of, if not the most common and versatile fundamentally basic materials in the world; this marriage of denim and sneaker was inevitable. A collaborative effort, this is Series 1 featuring a classic indigo fully stitched 13.25oz raw denim upper. With light aesthetically hand frayed edges, in theory with the natural bending of the foot as with selvage denim jeans these should fade, honeycomb and whisker as they are worn and aged by the owner. Be sure to take photos after 3 months, 6 months and 1 year worth of wears for your WDYWT post!”

Simple, yet well thought out. This is a solid design from sneaker recon artist Falsequest, another super talented sneaker customizer. As with most recon artists, materials, as well as subtle changes to an original design can go a long way. In this case, all of the usual stitching and perforations found on a sk8-hi were deleted for a more sophisticated look, and the entire upper was wrapped in a raw canvas, while the Vans racing stripe has a dual-layered black snakeskin, overlaying a dirty gray denim. That same denim was also used on the heel piece, where a large embroidering of FAQU was properly placed. Taking a closer look, you’ll see that the denim was left unwrapped on the edges, to allow fraying over time. Well thought out. Pewter eyelets, and black laces finish it off. These are one off customs most likely for a customer of his, but feel free to drop him an inquiry on his website, if you are interested!

Wanting to make a big impression with his “rebirth” as a sneaker recon-artist, theMenace found a unique ripstop nylon material, which incorporates 3m reflective properties, with a black digital camouflage print. For the back half of the shoe, a mirror polish chrome material was sourced, and a black patent leather heel piece. The design is finished up with silver metal eyelets, 2 pairs of laces, and a custom box. These are now available for preorder at theMenace’s webshop.

Another dope creation by theMenace. Using a Sk8-Hi model as his base, he decided to try out a unique material that he had sourced a few years back. He had put it away until he felt his skill level had grown to where he knew he could make something great with it. The crocodile embossed, dichroic color shifting skin is something that is usually found in the automotive industry, and it looks like it adapted pretty well on these Sk8-Hi’s. You might also notice the soft grain leather, and black patent leather accents, which all tie in very nicely. These come with two pairs of laces, and a custom box.
