Vans Syndicate x Slam City – Derby “S” + Video (Available Now!)

Words via Slam City:

“The 23rd release from Vans Syndicate is a collaboration with Slam City Skates. We received some pairs a little ahead of their release. This meant there was time for a bit of road testing, this edit is the result of a few days spent cruising around the City of London with Slam family and friends in our first ever Vans Syndicate shoe. Tests came back positive as you’ll see in this edit featuring Chris Pulman, Paddy Jones, Sam Hughes, Jamie Arghh, Olly Todd, Darius Trabalza, Jacob Sawyer, Andrew Khosravani, Rob Mathieson and Curtis Pearl.

Vans Syndicate 023.143 x Slam City Skates – Derby “S” “Wingtip”

Slam-City-Skates-x-Vans-Syndicate-02

Words and interview by FreshNGood

“When given the opportunity to work alongside Vans Syndicate we jumped at the chance. Choosing the Derby as a silhouette was an obvious first choice, as it’s a functional skate shoe favored by customers and team riders.  Having chosen that shoe, we worked closely with the guys over at Vans to create the ultimate version of it. Using the Syndicate resources meant we could choose from a wide range of materials and create our vision, a stylish high-end shoe which is still ultimately skateable.  We chose high quality leathers for the upper with a wing tip design on the toe. Coupled with some fine detailing such as the copper and brass eyelets, the shoe came out just as we’d hoped.

The formula Slam has favored for a long time; creating aesthetically pleasing desirable products intended to be thrashed on the streets lends itself well to the Syndicate remit. Our version of the Derby has held up well while being shredded by Slam team and staff this last month. Boardfeel is just as you’d expect from the inimitable Vans waffle sole but protection was in no way compromised. Attention to detail meant that these also come with an ImpactSorb in-sole which features a lot of padding in the heel area making the shoe as functional as possible. We are pleased to bring you this Slam City Skates x Vans Syndicate project designed to look good on and off a skateboard. Buy them and bash them up.”

As any new info drops, we will keep you posted here at OTWS!

vans-otw-hyperstealth-fall-2013-camo-pack-02-630x420

Words via Highsnobiety:

“The HyperStealth camo pack celebrates the spirit and utility inherent in military survival gear. For Fall 2013, HyperStealth has developed a custom camo which ties back to Vans’ checkerboard heritage. The Vans OTW collection presents a capsule of footwear, apparel, and accessories utilizing blue and brown variations of the subtle pattern. The Vans OTW x HyperStealth camo assortment brings forth updated colorways of the Bedford and Ludlow alongside the new Lynwood silhouette. The Lynwood’s aesthetic is influenced by vintage high-tops like the Vans Caballero, which is infused with modern sneaker sensibilities and utility styling.

In addition to the footwear offering, the collaborative pack introduces a six-piece set of camouflage-clad apparel and accessories featuring the HyperStealth T-shirt, Lennox button-up, 5-panel camper hat, OTW belt, Donner wallet and Washburn backpack. Vans Syndicate x Fucking Awesome x Supreme – Authentic “S” (A Closer Look!)

9318122832_14269c2f0f_c

This release is turning out to be a fucking pain in my neck.  With no online release from Supreme, and from what it looks like, Fucking Awesome webstore as well, a lot of us are left high and dry on this one!  We’ve been teased and tormented since the very first pics we saw of the white pair, which also didn’t get released in this pack!  There’s a whole lot of WTF going on with this one, and perhaps it was all by design.  Sort of the Supreme and FA way!  Well, a few of our OTWS members had some free time this Thursday morning, to head down to Supreme LA and wait in line with the rest of them, and I thought I’d share a few detailed photos of the “awesome” Neon Green Authentic “S”, thanks to RuDe-oNe on our OTWS forum, as well as Akamedaniel and tmrsn.  Oh, and not to be a back patter, but we pay attention to the details over here, and we were the only ones to announce that this was a Syndicate release, all based on one photo of the red/gold pair, that had a Syndicate tag on the upper.  I guess nobody else cared or noticed!  Just sayin’.  I hope y’all know who keeps it real with Vans, haha!

Supreme x Vans Syndicate x Fucking Awesome – Authentic

fucking-awesome-x-vans-2013-authentic-collection-1

Although not an official news release from Supreme, Hypebeast has dropped a little bit of info about the highly anticipated Fucking Awesome Authentic that we’ve been teased with for over a year now.  More recently, we discovered that these will be a Vans Syndicate release, as well as a Supreme exclusive.  What we’re also noticing is that the white pair won’t be releasing, just the black/white, red/gold, and neon yellow/black.  Not sure why Hypebeast had the exclusive drop on this release, so until official word comes from Supreme, I guess we won’t hold our breath!

Here’s what Hypebeast posted up:

“Jason Dill’s Fucking Awesome brand has been the subject of much speculation over the past couple of weeks, triggered by the legendary skateboarder’s sudden departure from longtime board sponsor Alien Workshop. New relationships are nothing new for Jason Dill though, who only late last year was officially announced to Vans’ roster of skateboarders. Here we find Fucking Awesome teaming up with Vans for a collection of collaborative footwear, taking the shoemaker’s coveted Authentic silhouette and outfitting it with an all-over signature print. This collaboration finds the Authentic offered in three colorways – black, red, and neon green – each paired with matching laces and a clean, white vulcanized outsole. The shoe is set to retail for $70 USD, exclusively at Supreme locations worldwide on July 18.”
