Vans Syndicate – Interview with Ice-T (by Jeff Potocar @jeffkutter)

Jeff Potocar, of Syndicate and Supreme LA sat down with Ice-T awhile back, and had an in depth interview on Ice’s background. They discuss a number of things, like why he called their circle a “Syndicate”, how he got started in his music career, the notoriety over Body Count’s “Cop Killer” song, and also how Ice is a big time online gamer. If you watch Ice Loves Coco, then you’d already know that. Huh? What? I mean…that’s news to me! It’s an interesting read, and I figured you all would get a kick out of his humor, and even more importantly, admire his realness. It’s something that’s becoming harder and harder to find these days.

Vans x SPOT (Skate Park of Tampa) x Russ Pope – Sk8-Hi Pro (Releases 9/14)

The official release date is finally here for the Vans x Skate Park of Tampa Sk8-Hi Pro. Going with a more subtle approach than usual, SPoT’s shoe is comprised primarily of black suede, except for the rich blue nylon side panels featuring Russ Pope’s artwork. There’s also a custom tongue tag featuring Pope’s rendition of the Skate Park of Tampa’s main logo on it, as well as custom removable PU footbeds. “In a project paying homage to Danish design, we have curated a 3 way collaborative project with Kvadrat, Vans and Poul Kjærholm entitled “Stoflighed”. Textile producer Kvadrat has supplied Tundra and Tonica fabrics for Vans Era and Chukka models. Both fabrics were selected for their rich tones and textural qualities. To accompany the release, Kvadrat fabrics were equally applied to 2 classic pieces of furniture, the PK80 daybed and PK91 folding stool from Danish architect Poul Kjærholm.

“We are excited to announce a special project that we have been working on over the last few months. Along with a Pop-Up Shop celebrating their 10 year anniversary, we have worked with Vault by Vans and put together a capsule collection of classic Vans footwear in the style of Engineered Garments. The two main themes running throughout this project is the subtle approach and differences commonly found in Engineered Garments collections and the focus on fabrics and texture when constructing these pieces.

On Tuesday, September 10th we will be releasing the Vault by Vans for Engineered Garments capsule collection. The shoes will be available in the OG Authentic LX in Sunforger Canvas and Olive Reversed Sateen and the OG Classic Slip-On LX in Mismatch Black Leather, Navy Leather, and Tan Leather.

Vans has started shipping out the Ice-T pack to your local Vans Syndicate accounts, and we just wanted to show you a little preview of what to expect (thanks to OTWS member RuDe-oNe). Other than the details that have been discussed before, we now get a better look at the accessory revolver keychain, the plastic “body bag” for the shoes, as well as the detailed artwork for the insoles and box, and rejoice! Drawer boxes are back! But so are the higher price tags that accomodate all of that ($120 for the Sk8-Hi), but it’s well worth it in my opinion. Then again, I’m from Southern California, and spent the formidable part of my childhood years (without my Mother’s knowledge) listening to Ice-T, so this release is a must have for me. I hope everyone who wants these will get them! Until then, enjoy some pics!
