Vans Vault x Taka Hayashi – TH Sierra Trek Lo LX (Holiday 2013)

vans-vault-holiday-2013-th-boot-01

Taka is back at it again for the Holiday season, slightly modifying the TH Sierra Trek Lo LX.  A cosmetic stitch pattern has been applied to the newly shaped uppers, drawing attention to the updated profile of the shoe.  Taka went with the tried and true Vibram “Christy” soles, paired up with a suede or nubuck material depending on the colorway that you go with.  Hiker laces finish these off nicely.  Available in a brown suede color, as well as a blue nubuck version.  Coming soon to your local Vault dealer.

Vans CA x DQM – HBT Authentic Pack

07_DQM_Vans_Edit_-750x500

Words via DQM:

“DQM will be releasing it’s Holiday 14 footwear collection in collaboration with Vans on Friday, November 15th. Made exclusively for DQM, the ‘HBT Authentic’ collection is inspired by the Herringbone Twill (HBT) uniform introduced in World War II. Made of of 8.2-ounce heavy cotton herringbone twill cloth, the uniform consisted of an OD shirt, trousers, and a circular-billed cotton utility hat. It was initially meant to be worn over the basic wool uniform to provide protection, but soon proved to be a much better material as the primary uniform for hot weather and tropical climates.

The DQM/Vans footwear collaboration takes design cues from the WWII HBT and gives them a twist. Using a unique enzyme process created specifically for this project, we wanted to make a subtle camo using the highs and lows that the enzyme process created. The reference for the colors are Jungle, Desert and Ocean. The eyelets have a saltwater patina finish and the shoes utilize a syped bottomplate, as a nod to Vans’ nautical past, and for the functionality of the tread on wet surfaces. The shoes feature a pigskin flag label, round leather laces, The Vans DQM General logo on the insole and The General’s signature navy blue heel tab print.”

Produced in a limited edition, the shoes will be available exclusively at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York, and The Vans DQM General on Newbury St in Boston, MA, and in the DQM online store www.dqmnewyork.com.

Photographed by Gerhard Stochl in The Rockaways, New York. Worn by Brendan Carroll and Vrn Powell.

Vans x LE Way – Capsule Collection (Official Video!)

Vans x L.E. Way (Limited Edt. Singapore) – Sk8-Hi & Old Skool

limited-edt-x-vans-l-e-way-collection-1

Vans has teamed up with Singapore’s Limited Edt on this very original capsule collection.  They chose the Sk8-Hi and the Old Skool to put their creative ideas on, and I can’t say that I’ve seen this type of design before.  “The collection draws influences from both Vans’ skateboarding aesthetic and core architectural elements from Limited Edt’s boutiques. The Sk8-Hi features a combination brick wall and chain-link fence print upper paired grip tape material overlays and red stitching, all sitting atop a black rubber sole with yellow side strip. The Old Skool features a hexagonal print upper with a reflective finish, grip tape material overlays, and hexagonal pewter eyelets, and a black sole with yellow side strip. Both models come with premium leather linings and three lace options.”-Hypebeast.  That griptape material is too dope, and the chain link fence on top of the brick wall is a crazy awesome pattern on the side of a Sk8-Hi.  Finally, our Singapore members and supporters have a Vans to call their own, and I hope they like it as much as I do.  Great job Limited Edt!  Releasing on November 2nd.

Vans Vault x UBIQ – Sk8-Hi LX & Era LX (Coming Soon!)

UBIQ-Vans-14

Vans Vault has come together with Philadelphia’s very own UBIQ, on this upcoming Sk8-Hi LX and Era LX pack.  UBIQ went with a Japanese tattoo theme for this collection, enlisting Hiroshi Hirakawa, from one of the prestigious Three Tides Tattoo shop locations, his being in Osaka, Japan.  The following quote is from UBIQ: “On both styles, you’ll find a depiction of a samurai on a Vans cargo ship confronting a mountain dragon looming in the sky. On the Sk8-Hi LX you’ll find the illustration on a canvas mid-panel fixed between black suede, whereas the full scenery can be viewed on the allover print of the low-top canvas upper of the Era LX. The box in which both of the UBIQ x Vault by Vans shoes come in is also fully covered in the same artwork.”  As you can tell in the photos, the artwork is amazing, and UBIQ covered all the details in this collaboration.  We can’t wait for it to release, and as soon as info becomes available, it will be on our forums.

To read the rest of the story regarding this release, head on over to UBIQ’s site.

Vans x XLARGE – Chukka “Duck Camo” (Japan Only!)

xlarge-x-vans-chukka-duck-camo-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“While the chukka boot silhouette was created in the ’70s for polo players, Vans has since adapted the model to fit the skateboarding audience. For its latest collaboration, the heritage skateboarding imprint has teamed up with Japanese streetwear purveyors XLARGE on this “Duck Camo” rendition of the Chukka. Here, duck camo suede overhauls the majority of the shoe’s upper, with yellow hits at the heel, tag and eyelets. Finished with a yellow rubber sole for comfort and cushioning, the “Duck Camo” is a bold offering and a great look for the cooler months ahead.”

Vans x Supreme x Bruce Lee – Authentic & Sk8-Hi (Drops 10/24/13)

5cwnXKZ2MXE

Bruce Lee, born 1940, was a Hong Kong American martial artist, Hong Kong action film actor, martial arts instructor, filmmaker and the founder of Jeet Kune Do. Lee was born in Chinatown, San Francisco on November 27th 1940 to parents from Hong Kong and was raised in Kowloon with his family until his late teens.

Lee moved to the United States at the age of 18 to receive his higher education, and it was during this time that he began teaching martial arts. He initially trained in Wing Chun, but later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favoring instead the use of techniques from various sources, in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy, which he dubbed Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist).

His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, sparking a surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West in the 1970s. He is noted for his roles in five feature-length films: Lo Wei’s The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Lee; Warner Brothers’ Enter the Dragon (1973) and The Game of Death (1973), both directed by Robert Clouse. Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world, particularly among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism in his films. He died in Kowloon Tong on July 20th 1973 at the age of 32. He is widely considered by commentators, critics, media and other martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all time, and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films.

This Fall, Supreme has come together with the Bruce Lee Estate to release a capsule collection. The project will feature a Coaches Jacket, Button-Down Shirt and three original graphic Tees made exclusively for Supreme. There will be featured a Vans Authentic and Sk8-Hi that will come in three colorways.
