Paloma Elsesser For Vans’ Fall 2022 “Classic Since Forever” Campaign

Over the last few years, Paloma Elsesser has taken the fashion industry by storm and done so on her terms. Elsesser is a model with a deep love for community and a keen understanding of its power. These qualities make her the perfect face for Vans’ “Classic Since Forever” campaign.

Born in the north end of London to a Chilean-Swiss father and an African American mother, Elsesser grew up in Los Angeles and attended The New School in New York before breaking into the world of modeling. Since then, she’s walked in several runway shows and appeared on the covers of multiple fashion magazines, including I-D Magazine, Vogue, and Homme Girls.

“This campaign represents a community of creatives and colleagues I call friends,” Paloma said. “Vans invested in my vision for this project, so it feels inspiring to see the images we created—here in New York, with my New York family—all over the city. I’ve been wearing Vans forever, so it’s a full-circle moment.”

This season, Paloma wears the Sk8-Hi, Slip-On Stackform, Authentic Stackform, and Hi-Def t-shirt. The “Classic Since Forever” campaign highlights the brand’s most classic silhouettes, each a shoe that has been a hallmark of innovators, disruptors, creatives, and freethinkers for decades. They’re shoes that break down doors and bust up boundaries, making them natural choices for a creative like Elsesser, who defies convention and refuses to be boxed in.

The “Classic Since Forever” Campaign featuring Paloma launches today in conjunction with New York Fashion Week, where Vans will be hosting, Steal This Gallery, an “Off The Wall Experience.” The event will be open to the public from 12 pm to 8 pm on September 8th and 9th, located at 365 Broadway, Tribeca, New York.

Each silhouette in the Vans Classics collection is available now via Vans.com/classics.

Vans Surf and Former have partnered once again on a collection that epitomizes “Off The Wall” creativity. With a nod to both brands’ shared ethos of raw, unapologetic authenticity and progressive design, Vans’ latest collaboration with Former is laser focused on fresh details and elevated materials.

Rich leather and suedes are the backbone of the footwear styles, with embossed detailing and patches designed by the Former team for a DIY, against-the-grain aesthetic that makes this collection undeniably Former. A black, green, and cream palette runs throughout the offering, led by Vans Destruct Mid MTE-1, and rounded out with the all-new Surf Boot Hi Split Toe 3MM and the Mid Slip MTE-1.

The Destruct Mid MTE-1 combines style and capability, thanks to MTE technologies, including moisture management, thermoregulation, and traction, that allow it to hold up and function, rain or shine. The MTE-1 Primaloft™ Cold Weather Thermal Package keeps feet warm during cold spells and post-surf. Sealing the deal, the MTE-1 outsole provides traction and the rugged durability that defines Vans. The collection also includes a long-sleeve tee and sherpa-lined Former Jacket featuring patches on the back and a Former lockup on the front left chest.

Founded by professional surfers Dane Reynolds and Craig Anderson, and pro skaters Austyn Gillette and Dylan Rieder, Former is independently owned and operated with the sole intention of creating and producing things they like to wear and be a part of. No overly complex business plan or strategies. Just good, quality design.

Vans x Former will be available globally beginning September 8, 2022, at select partner retailers, Vans retail locations, and vans.com/surf.

Vault By Vans x Bianca Chandôn – Collection (8.20.22)

https-__hypebeast.com_image_2022_08_bianca-chandon-vans-og-sk8-hi-black-authentic-blue-distressed-skateboarding-release-info-1

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

Info via Hypebeast:

“Alex Olsen‘s skateboarding label Bianca Chandôn was founded in 2014 and draws heavily from the 1970s — even coining its name after the Studio 54 legend Bianca Jagger and the racing driver Olivier Chandon de Braîlles. The brand is known for its “Lover” graphic, once more leaning into ’70s themes, and has gone on to work with everyone from Dover Street Market and Tom Bianchi to Crescent Down and Union L.A., and now it adds Vans to its roster of partners with the release of four skate-ready sneakers.

Taking on the Sk8-Hi Reissue VLT LX, Old Skool VLT LX, Authentic VLT LX and the Classic Slip-On VLT LX respectively, that are indebted to the skate scene — Bianca Chandôn applies a distinctive vintage aesthetic that gives the pairs a pleasantly worn-in look. Most of the work has been applied to Vans’ signature vulcanized waffle sole unit, which has been treated to a heavy wearing that looks as if the pairs have already been skated in, tinting the creamy base with black scuff marks and ink-like spills around the “Off The Wall” license plates on the heel. Completing the look is Bianca Chandôn’s signature which looks as if it’s been written onto the sole with a blue biro pen.

As for the rest of the shoe, you’ll find the Sk8-Hi sport a black colorway intersected with gray paneling that’s covered in stars, while leather has been used for the Vans stripe that runs across the mid-panel. Black suede works the toe, eyestay placket and heel cup, while dirtied white laces and a “Vault” tongue tag round things off.

Bianca Chandôn’s OG Authentic comes in a complementing blue colorway, with its white mid-panel upper sporting blue stars and the toe box being made from canvas. Here, more distressing has been applied to the uppers as the toe and heel are just as dirty as the sole unit.”

The Bianca Chandôn x Vans OG Sk8-Hi and Authentic collaboration drops on August 20, 2022 via select Vault by Vans and Bianca Chandôn retail accounts and online at Vans on August 23.

Vault By Vans x Pilgrim Surf Supply – 10th Anniversary Collection (8.24.22)

vans-vault-pilgrim-10-year-anniversary-og-authentic-lx_8_800x

In celebration of Pilgrim’s 10 year anniversary, they partnered with Vans Vault to create a collection of some of their favorite footwear styles. They couldn’t think of a better way to recognize this partnership than to release the most popular shoes they’ve made together to date.

The OG Classic Slip-on LX features their Pennant Checkerboard. It features Marshmallow canvas, an elasticated gusset at the sides of the tongue, a padded collar and a treaded two-tone outsole.

The OG Authentic LX has been a staple in their collaborations with Vans since the start. This version, in a vintage-washed green, is an homage to the color green Pilgrim used in their very first Authentic, and a reference to the original Authentic colorway of the early 1960’s. It features contrast tonal edge taping and eyelets, and a treaded two-tone outsole. Each pair comes with an alternative tonal shoelace.

The OG Era LX is a style they’ve always loved because it combines some of the best attributes of the Slip-On and Authentic. So for this collaboration they also combined design elements from both, by using their Pennant Checkerboard from the Slip-On along with a vintage-washed dusty blue canvas similar to the Authentic’s dusty green. The Era also features a padded collar and a treaded two-tone outsole. Each pair comes with an alternative tonal shoelace.

Each of the 3 pairs will retail for $98 + $18 shipping for one pair.  These are now available over on Pilgrim’s webstore.

Vans Skate x Labor Skateshop – “Sewer Gator” Skate Half Cab (8.18.22)

FA22_Skate_HalfCab_Labor_Green_Outside_9586

From aggressive pigeons with no regard for personal space to adventurous pizza-dragging rats, New York City’s fauna is surrounded by legendary lore and plenty of tall tales. None of these creatures, however, can match the century-old Big Apple myth of “sewer gators” — mythological reptiles that slither through the city’s dank underbelly, feasting on rats and rubbish while terrorizing hapless municipal workers. Now, NYC-based Labor Skate Shop is giving these crawlin’ critters a rare above-ground moment by using them as inspiration for a duo of Skate Half Cabs with Vans Skateboarding.

Arriving in “Croc Green” and a “Croc Charcoal,” the Vans Skateboarding x Labor Skate Shop Skate Half Cab boasts a scaly crocodile print, custom Labor Skate Shop badges on its lateral quarter panel and classic Steve Caballero branding. On the “Croc Green,” dark green nubuck and scaly green laces offer a two-tone take on the reptilian look, while the textured detailing on the “Croc Charcoal” is given free rein over the entirety of the upper. Both pairs also feature a high-gloss jet black midsole and Vans Skateboarding’s signature performance tech; like a recut DURACAP™ underlay, POPCUSH™ sockliners for superior cushioning and impact protection and a SICKSTICK™ rubber compound plus an internal heel shank, all of which work together to deliver grip, boardfeel, support, and durability.

The Vans Skateboarding x Labor Skate Shop Skate Half Cab will be released exclusively at Labor Skate Shop on August 18, with a retail price of $90.

An all-ages launch party for the Vans Skateboarding x Labor Skate Shop Skate Half Cab will also go down from 6 PM to 10 PM at Vans’ Skate Space 198 in Brooklyn on August 18, complete with a best trick contest and the introduction of a new gator-inspired skate obstacle.

Vault by Vans and KITH Launch New “Love Thy Community” Initiative by Partnering with Brooklyn Blooms for Floral-Printed Capsule

5“Love Thy Community” will highlight 6 minority-owned businesses, providing them with the opportunity to design their own sneakers and T-shirts — and keep 100% of the profits.

In the 11 years since its founding, Kith has evolved from a New York City-based footwear retailer to a global retail empire and coveted lifestyle brand. One thing that’s never changed, however, is the importance of community: Kith founder Ronnie Fieg has long strived to uplift and amplify the extended Kith family. Now, Vault by Vans has joined forces with Kith to launch the new “Love Thy Community” initiative, partnering with Brooklyn Blooms for a floral-printed Slip-On and special T-shirt.

Brooklyn Blooms is the first of six minority-owned businesses to be spotlighted in Vault by Vans and Kith’s “Love Thy Community” initiative. The idea for “Love Thy Community” sprouted from Kith’s 10th-anniversary celebrations in 2021: Ronnie Fieg started a KITH Community initiative, which aimed to support local minority-owned businesses by using Kith’s platform to spotlight their wares and stories. Shortly thereafter, Vans, who had started their own small business-focused Foot the Bill initiative in 2020, approached Kith to elevate the Kith Community program, a partnership that resulted in “Love Thy Community.”

The seeds for Brooklyn Blooms were first sewn in 2017 when florist LaParis Phillips opened her first flower shop in Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighborhood. Since then, Phillips’ business has bloomed in full, introducing a second location and becoming known around NYC for their one-of-a-kind floral assortments and welcoming atmosphere.

Brooklyn Blooms’ Slip-On features a custom all-over graphic that’s speckled throughout with bright flowers. Heels with embroidered “BK” and “STL” hits nod to Brooklyn Blooms’ home borough and shop logo — as well as St. Louis, where LaParis is originally from. Further details include “Creating Beautiful Things Out of Beautiful Things,” the shop’s tagline, on the sidewall and a specially printed insole graphic. The capsule’s t-shirt offers a co-branded hit on the front left chest and a large text graphic on the back.

Expect the Vault by Vans x Kith x Brooklyn Blooms “Love Thy Community” capsule to release on August 6 at the Brooklyn Blooms store and Brooklynblooms.com. The other five “Love Thy Community” projects will be rolled out in the coming months.

Vans Skate x Mike Gigliotti – Collection (7.29.22)

FA22_SKATE_HalfCab_01_Mike_Gigliotti_Navy_OutsideDISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission.

The artist, designer, and skater extraordinaire brings his signature illustrations to the Skate Half Cab and Skate Old Skool plus a Trek Slip-On and matching apparel/accessories.

Artist, designer, skateboarder, and Vans family member Mike Gigliotti is steeped in skate culture. He’s done everything from creating famous board graphics to working with Vans on special collections and open Lotties Skateshop in Los Angeles, one of the West Coast’s most influential skateboarding hubs. Gigliotti is “Off the Wall” through and through, so he’s the perfect partner to reimagine Vans Skateboarding silhouettes, both classic and contemporary, in a new co-created collection.

At the heart of the Vans Skateboarding x Mike Gigliotti collection is the Skate Half Cab, an upgraded version of Steve Caballero’s iconic signature model celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022. It’s dressed in a familiar two-tone blue color scheme that’s offset by pops of bright red plus a white midsole and laces. Gigliotti knows you don’t need to tamper with a classic too much, so he’s added his custom graphics onto the lateral collar’s tag, debossed them on the heel and tucked them away on the insole’s all-over print as well, letting the familiar mid-cut silhouette speak for itself.

The Half Cab may opt for a more minimalist approach, but the rest of the footwear and apparel in the Vans Skateboarding x Mike Gigliotti collection is awash in colorful prints and patterns. From skulls to barbed wire, roses, and spectral figures, the Skate Old Skool is loaded up with Gigliotti’s signature hand-drawn graphics. It also features a blue/black color scheme that blends two classic Old Skool colorways, split by a red Jazz Stripe. For a finishing touch, insoles boast a cheeky full-color graphic. Both the Skate Half Cab and Skate Old Skool utilize Vans Skateboarding’s finest tech, like responsive, drop-in PopCush midsoles, extra-rugged Duracap midsoles and classic gum rubber outsoles that use a grippy SickStick compound for ultimate board feel.

You’ve got to have your “chillers” to match your skate footwear, so the Vans Skateboarding x Mike Gigliotti collection also heads to the beach with a Trek Slip-On in black that features an all-over red graphic print. This perfect après-skate footwear option is accompanied by matching boardshorts and a beach towel.

The Vans Skateboarding x Mike Gigliotti collection will be released via vans.com/skateboarding and select Vans Skateboarding stockists on July 29. Prices range from $45 to $85.
