“Chima Ferguson‘s signature Vans get the hometown treatment as the skater teams up with Sydney’s SUPPLY for the Australian spot’s first-ever official collaborative release. A premium Vans Syndicate release, the kicks come decked out in royal blue and white with a TPU adhesive “Southern Cross” (or “Eureka Flag”) motif applied to the entirety of the canvas upper. Additional details include the likes of “Terra Australis Incognita” text, embossed SUPPLY heel branding, hiking laces, and SUPPLY’s “S” in place of the usual Syndicate “S” on both the footbed and custom packaging. Complete with a razor blade bottle opener, the limited edition Chima Pro is now available online for $109.95 AUD (approximately $102 USD).”

Vans x Daniel Lutheran – Era Pro (S/S 2014)

Vans has teamed up with Toy Machine pro rider Daniel Lutheran during his recent time off from skateboarding, nursing a crazy leg injury. Daniel was able to get with Vans and create this Era Pro that you see here. Decked out entirely in a blue suede material, featuring an animated pastel floral print all over, and featuring all the upgrades that the Pro models all receive. These represent Dan-Lu’s “mellow” style, and are a nice addition to the Spring/Summer lineup. Available everywhere!

Rather than simply looking for premium versions of the regular fabrics that you find on most sneakers, the brand has been very innovative in the past and continues to dig deeper than the rest for the more special and unique things in the market place. For Summer 2014 the brand has worked with Italian fabric maker Prima Visione. From the range of fabrics of the manufacturer, Vans Vault chose two jerseys, that have been used on the Era LX.”

Vans Japan x Mr. Gentleman – Authentic (Japan Exclusive)

Vans Japan has teamed up with Japanese brand Mr. Gentleman to produce these wild Authentics. There’s not much info out there on these, but one thing we know here at Under The Palms is our Vans, and right off the bat, these didn’t look like our typical Vans shoe, which means it must be the Japan editions, lol! Upon further inspection, we noticed that the shape was slightly rounder, and the Vans logo on the footbed had the familiar look that most of them have. The next giveaway was the box, which has a different construction, with a thicker lid. Anyways, back to the shoes. They’re loud. There’s flowers on the footbed which nobody will see, so basically you’re just wearing a pinstriped Vans Authentic. But I guess they’ve figured out a way to make them more colorful, and that’s by including 5 different colored pairs of laces for you to swap out. Great work here Mr. Gentleman. Great work indeed. -___-

Vans Vault x Diemme – Montebelluna Era LX (Spring 2014)

Vans has once again partnered up with Italian shoemaker Diemme, to bring to us an ultra-luxurious rendition of one of the most iconic Vans shoes of all time, the Era. As with the previous Diemme Vans, they’ve named these the Montebelluna, adding the “Era LX” to the end of it. Hand-made in Italy, two colorways are being offered up, in different leathers, the first being the yellow rendition in an all suede material, and a bordeaux colorway, a deep red, almost being mistaken for black, in a full-grain premium leather mockup. The familiar Diemme cupsole has been utilized on these as well, to help them last awhile longer, as should be expected with any shoe reaching the $300 mark! Custom leather footbeds with proper branding round off the insides, and the exterior’s are finished off nicely with an Italian flag tag sewn into the heel panel. Look for both the Yellow and Bordeaux models now through Bows & Arrows.

Pilgrim teamed up with Vans Japan and Beams Japan to produce a limited Vans Authentic sneaker for the impending warm season.”

These Authentics feature an entire canvas construction, done up in the vintage Van Doren style, complete with custom footbeds with leather heel pads. These are a Japan exclusive!

The fine people over at Montreal’s favorite boutique, Off The Hook, along with Chef Chuck Hughes, have put together one of the most unique, and purposeful Vans releases that we’ve seen in awhile. While most collaborations typically represent a story or local landmark, these represent an entire industry, or culture if you will, of those who work in kitchens everywhere. Why did I bring that up? Well, to make a point that these will surely raise interest worldwide. Chef Chuck Hughes was looking out for those who are stuck wearing less-than-awesome black on black non-slip shoes, while they cook, clean, and serve us fine folk. If Vans is taking notes, they could offer up an entire line created especially for these group of individuals. But I digress, let’s get back to the shoes. This “Black Crab” collection is beautiful. Yes, even black on black can be beautiful. It’s all about the details, and Vans Vault is who you go to when you want the details to stand out. From the water resistant panels, to the moisture-wicking liners and gusseted tongue, to the cork footbeds, waxed laces, and non-slip waffle soles, you really couldn’t have asked for more. They even had a custom box made up, featuring a white diagonal stripe on an all orange background, with a chrome crab insignia with black lettering. Such an awesome job was done on these! They release tomorrow, so be quick with the keyboard if you plan on getting these. (Oh, and do yourselves a favor, try and remove the label that is affixed to the cork sole. These are abnormally hard to take off for some reason, and if you step into your shoe, and press down on that sticker, then you won’t be removing them anytime soon). So to recap, they covered the 5 things that any great collab should have: An original idea, some unique materials, branding on the shoe, custom packaging, and a story or inspiration to back it.
