Vans x Pabst Blue Ribbon – “PBR Vans 2.0” Sk8-Mid (Details) #Pabst #PBRVans #PBR #PabstBlueRibbon

We’ve been waiting for details to drop on these PBR Sk8-Mids, and yesterday Pabst Blue Ribbon kicked off the campaign, giving us all a chance at getting a pair.  Last year, they held a country-wide scavenger hunt, as well as an online hunt, hiding random pairs in bars and public locations, and posting up clues on their various regional social media platforms.  Pairs were also given away weekly on the Pabst Blue Ribbon website, cleverly hidden throughout different pages on the site, some out in plain view, and others incorporated into existing graphics, and once you found a pair, if you were quick enough, you could then fill out your information and a few months later you’d receive a free pair in the mail.  A few of us were lucky, but most were not.  Well rejoice!  This year PBR is allowing you all a chance to get a pair right now, without having to hunt them down, BUT there is a catch.  You have to spend $150 on their webstore, and when you go to checkout, the option to pick your size of Vans x PBR Sk8-Mids pops up.  So that’s all there is to it…if you have $150 to spend on various PBR related knick knacks of course!  Do it for the shoes people!  They will also be doing the same scavenger hunt as last year, hiding free pairs every Friday on their website.  Try your luck, or if you must have these, then just fork out the $150.  Well worth your money if you’re a Vans collector like us.

Vans Vault x OTH – AΩ Slip-On LX (9.3.15) @othboutique @vanscanada

OFF THE HOOK and Vans Canada have come together to bring to us another sneaker collaboration under our favorite line, Vault By Vans. They chose the Slip-On LX this time around, and the style is casual yet mature.  It’s not until you get up close, that you notice the embossed letters on top of each suede upper, and the real eye-catcher is the blue and white striped elastic, which lets you know that these are the OTH “AΩ’s”.

Some words via OTH:

“The letters AΩ have great significance in Greek culture, and symbolize that every story has a beginning and an end.  With OFF THE HOOK celebrating its 15 year anniversary, the AΩ Project serves as a way to examine the shop’s roots and its history over the last decade and a half. Thus, the AΩ Slip-On LX touches on both the Greek roots of OFF THE HOOK’s founders, and its history within Montreal’s streetwear scene. The letter A is lightly embossed on the top of the right shoe, while the left shoe carries an embossed Ω. Further tying together the joint heritage in Greece and Quebec is the colour-scheme, which features grey suede and blue stripes, with grey symbolizing a solid foundation as it’s a classic colour that can be worn season after season and blue stripes representing both Greece and Quebec”.

This is the Sk8-Hi – Style #38 Exhibition in the Sneakermuseum Cologne

Vans_SK8_HI_940x626

Words via Sneakermuseum:

“The return to icons isn’t just a trend for Vans, it’s part of the history of the almost 50 years young and original action sports brand from California.
From August 21st, Vans presents a special exhibtion in the Sneakermuseum Cologne in cooperation with the local sneaker shop The Good Will Out and the Skateboardmuseum Berlin.  The installation will be themed “This is the Sk8-Hi – Style #38” according to the Vans iconic model, which will also be the title of the event.

The exhibition opening will be celebrated in a get-together on Friday, August 21st, from 6 p.m. onwards. Cologne has always been an important center for Vans because of its skate, BMX and social culture. It’s the perfect place to pay tribute to the iconic model and to bring alive the “Van Doren spirit”. The Sk8-Hi stands for good times, festivals in the rain, parties, skate and BMX tours, plummeting and escalations, but maybe also for exam stress and presentations as well as aging and still staying young… the shoe is living culture.

In 1978 Vans designed its first high top lace-up shoe under the lead of Paul van Doren: Style#38, to be known later as the Sk8-Hi. The new silhouette took the functionality in BMX and skateboarding to a new level as the shoe covers the ankle, the most affected body part of skaters and BMX riders. Not only did the Sk8-Hi bring progress in performance, but it also introduced a new look to the era. Established for generations in the action sports culture the Sk8-Hi has become an icon of the worldwide fashion and streetwear culture. Collaborations with Metallica, KISS, The Prodigy, The Beatles and Disney as well as designs by street wear fashion designer Wtaps, Stüssy or Supreme are just a couple of highlights in Sk8-Hi’s history. Till today the Sk8-Hi is part of the Core-Classics line that expresses what Vans stands for: classic & timeless! On show at the exhibition, will be ‘never seen before’ version of the Sk8-Hi, highlighting its rich heritage.

Curator Jürgen Blümlein from Skateboardmuseum Berlin, as well as collector Henry Davies from THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PILLOW in London will pass on their knowledge of the brand and will be available for interviews on the opening day. This exhibition is free entry”.

Vans Vault x Barneys – “Sole Series” OG Classic Slip-On LX (August 2015)

info via Complex

Barneys is teaming up with Vans Vault to create this luxury OG Classic Slip-On LX.  Constructed in a premium leather, woven together to create the iconic checkerboard pattern that we’re all fond of.  When asked about the inspiration for the design, Barneys said “We were cleaning out our sample closet last spring and found this cool material an old sneaker was made out of—a thin grain leather on one side, suede on the other. We sent it to Vans to see if they could develop it into a fabric that could be cut and woven and used for a slip-on sneaker,” said Chris Pepe, Barneys’ senior buyer of men’s footwear. “We did several rounds of samples trying to get the texture, thickness, and color right”.  Barneys chose a black/white colorway to represent Vans, and a black/navy colorway to showcase their own particular style.  These Slip-Ons are a thing of beauty, and hopefully you can get your hands on them when they release.  Retail is set at $165.

Vans x Golf Wang – Old Skool Pro (August 2015)

golf-wang-x-vans-2015-old-skool-collection-1

Words via Complex:

“Following two well-received Vans Old Skool collections, Odd Future ringleader Tyler, the Creator is back with another collab and it’s dropping sooner than you may have expected.

This time around, the collaboration has been branded Golf Wang x Vans, which is the clothing brand that Tyler started in 2011. It’s as colorful as ever, and three of the four styles feature Vans’ trademark checkerboard print throughout the side panels. From the looks of things, each colorway in the set was designed to coordinate with specific Golf Wang pieces.

In an Instagram post, Tyler revealed a drop date of August 29. Stay tuned for an official price point.”
