It’s been known for awhile that a new Blends “Bones” shoe was in the works, but we weren’t sure of the model or colorway, but it looks like Blends unveiled their next release by way of a lookbook emailed out today.  Seen above and below are what appear to be a black/black or navy/black Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX, on a white vulcanized sole with black foxing stripe.  Staying true to their aesthetic, using color combos that are timeless, this next edition of “Blends Bones” is shaping up to be a heavy hitter.  As official info comes out, we’ll of course share it with you all.  Stay tuned!

Vault by Vans x DQM – “The Halves” OG Sk8-Hi LX (UTP Review!)

IMG_0425

Last weekend had a few big releases, which was kicked off with the DQM “The Halves” Pack.  With a focus on minimalism, DQM chose to let the materials and monochromatic white and black colorways do the talking.  With premium tumbled leather throughout the shoe, these are classy as hell!  The most recognizable and unique feature on this release has to be the luxury high-fashion inspired tongue stitching.  I can’t think of another Vans shoe with this same feature.  The embossed jazz stripe is another nice subtle feature, for those less interested in repping brands and logos.  You may also have failed to notice that the toe is missing any perforations or stitching, which helps reiterate the statement that less is more.  If you’re still on the fence about these, then you better decide quickly.  Rumor has it, that the entire collection consisted of about 80 pairs total.  That’s roughly 20 pairs per style.  If that’s true, then these may not even be available anymore, so good luck!  I have to give a shout out to the homie Jesus Ayala (mayimbe181) for picking these up for me, as they were in-store only, and I can’t forget to thank Sophia from Vans DQM for making sure we were taken care of.  Thank you!

Vault by Vans x Sole Classics – “10 Seasons” Half Cab LX (3.5.16) #soleclassics

10Seasons 5

Man, we just keep getting blessed with collab after collab, and next up is Sole Classics’ 4th Vans shoe, celebrating their 10th anniversary by way of this awesome Half Cab LX being called the “10 Seasons”, which is inspired by the change in seasons of the midwest.  At first glance, you’d think these shoes were identical left and right pairs, but after pointing it out, you perhaps now see that there are a few small variances between the left and right foot, such as the tongue labels, Half Cab labels, heel tabs, and a few others as well which I’ll leave for you to explore.  The colors chosen for the shoe are super unique.  I can’t recall another pair of Vans that has this delicate balance of golden brown earthtones with a turquoise contrast, while sitting on top of an entire gum sole.  There’s no mistaking it from near or far!  Great job on another dope Vans shoe Sole Classics!

These will be available this coming Saturday March 5th, at 8AM in store and 12 noon EST online, in sizes from Men’s 4-13, for $140.

Vault by Vans x OTH x RBW – Raised By Wolves Pack (UTP Review!)

IMG_0353

The Vault by Vans x OTH (Off The Hook) x RBW (Raised by Wolves) collaboration drops tomorrow morning, and the homies over at OTH were kind enough to allow us to get our pairs early.  This pack is ridiculously awesome.  There are so many cool details in each shoe, and everyone likes to talk about material, and that’s where this collection shines.  It’s as if there was some sort of disagreement over how they wanted to lay out the materials on each shoe, so they came up with a compromise by inverting the suede and premium leather on the left and right feet.  This has only been done by one other Vans collabo, and that’s the Engineered Garments Classic Slip-On LX series.  These are by no means a copy-cat, as I feel there is way more going on, construction wise, with a Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX and an Old Skool Zip LX.  Each shoe looks absolutely perfect in it’s own right, and if these came in either mock-up, I would still buy it in an instance.  You might think that an all black colorway is getting quite tiresome, but when you focus on high end materials and minor details like the triangle stitching on the lace eye rows, the red stripe on the MTE outsole, and the dual-branding on the tongue tag and zipper pulls, then you’ve definitely got something that’s not quite so common anymore.  Each pair comes with black flat waxed laces, 3M rope laces, and white flat waxed laces.  To top off this release, each shoe comes in a heavy duty drawer box with dustbag, and there’s even a cool bottle opener key chain!  If you’re on the fence, I hope my realistic iphone pics and angles in natural outdoor lighting will help you decide if you will be copping a pair, but honestly don’t sleep.  I don’t think these will be around long.

Keep checking these sites for the release:

Vans Vault x DQM – The Halves OG Sk8-Hi LX & OG Style 36 LX (2.26.16)

dqm-vans-2016-halves-collection-1

Words via DQM:

“DQM will be releasing its Spring 16 footwear collection in collaboration with Vans this Friday, February 26th. The collection inlcudes an OG SK8-Hi LX and an OG Style 36 LX, both produced in all black and all white premium leather color ways. Made exclusively for DQM, the shoes are inspired by a study in minimalism, and in contrasts and transitions: two parts of one, light and dark, black and white, and the gray areas.

The shoes combine a feeling of minimalism, with refined, pared-back styling and a completely monotone palette, with a feeling of luxury, fabricated in soft, super premium full-grain leather and featuring quilted leather tongues and gold foil printing on cork insoles. They have a deconstructed look with minimal branding, simple punched eyelets and high-density printed side-stripes. The shoes feature ‘The General: DQM for Vans’ branding on the insoles and ‘DQM’ logos at the heel tabs.”

Produced in a limited edition, “The Halves” collection will be available in men’s and women’s sizes exclusively at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York on Friday, February 26th.

Vans Vault x OTH x Raised By Wolves – Raised By Wolves Pack (2.27.16)

IMG_4922

Our friends to the North, OTH, have been teasing the official info of their upcoming 3-way collaboration with Vault By Vans, and Raised by Wolves.  There’s been quite the build up on these, teasing a few photos here and there on social media, and surprising us with the mystery 3rd party collaborator, and we now get the full look on what will be coming out.  This time, we get two MTE models, which couldn’t have come at a better time for everyone on the East Coast, and of course in Canada as well, where these will be released.  But don’t worry, pairs will be available on both party’s websites as well.  The design is clean and sophisticated, just like all of OTH’s Vans collabs, and the coolest feature is the mis-matched uppers, which we can think of only one other Vans collaboration out there who has used this idea.  To get the entire story, check out what OTH has to say about this pack after the jump!

Vans Surf x Yusuke Hanai – Capsule Collection (Spring 2016)

S16_YUSUKE_RIO_7773

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand and Japanese artist, Yusuke Hanai, team up for the first time to introduce the Vans x Yusuke Hanai capsule for spring 2016. Inspired by modern mid-century details and illustrations paying homage to surf culture Yusuke takes it to the next level with intricate artwork, while adding a youthful Vans twist to Vans Surf footwear silhouettes and apparel pieces.

The collection’s leading motif is a collage of surf-inspired illustrations including seagulls, fish, flowers, cacti and a sad surfer. The collection evokes a warm outdoor beach feel with an array of colors that include Antique White, Sterling Blue and Eggplant Burgundy. The Yusuke print can be found across the Vans Rata Vulc SF, the Authentic SF, the Slip-On SF and the Hanelei sandal. Yusuke’s designs are also featured across a diverse selection of Vans apparel including the Yusuke Hanai Boardshort, Tank and Reversible Bucket Hat that’s perfect for spring.

At the age of 25, Hanai left Japan for San Francisco to pursue an education in art. Hanai developed his own style after being inspired by artists within the counter-culture movement of the ‘60s. Known for his Japanese-infused, retro-styled illustrations, Vans is proud to collaborate with Hanai on a capsule that celebrates creative expression, surf and art.

Offering classic style and modern comfort, the Vans x Yusuke Hanai collection is now available on the Vans webstore.
