Words via Hypebeast:

“As a testament to the Vans Classic Slip-On’s timeless staying power and versatility, British designer Vivienne Westwood gives an eclectic twist on the iconic silhouette as a part of her eponymous label’s Anglomania collection. The skater favorite gets bold stripes with brushlike strokes throughout the upper, reflecting her modern punk aesthetic. Additionally, a large graffiti-inspired print of Westwood’s signature orb logo is seen on one shoe and comes with a matching box. Be on the lookout for the collaborative sneaker which will be available at select Vivienne Westwood stores in Japan beginning late April”.

Saint Alfred has finally released official pics of their upcoming Old Skool LX’s, and they’ve also revealed that the pack will release this Saturday, the 9th.  Some of the official specs have been listed on their webstore where the links are up, but just no inventory yet.  Both shoes feature a durable canvas upper with resin coating for water repellant properties, as well as a gusseted tongue to help stop water from getting to your socks.  The shoes feature a premium pigskin leather lining, padded collar, and Ortholite footbeds.  The outer features include a stitched jazz stripe, lace eyelets, and a very unique morse code print on the sidewalls that spell out “STA773”.  The shoes come packaged in a custom box with dustbag, numbered _ / 100, with a clever piece of packaging tape so you’ll know if someone tampered with them.

The shoes will release Saturday April 9th in store, and if there are any remaining pairs, they will be put online on Sunday the 10th.  Each shoe will be $120 + shipping.

All Nations Skate Jam x Pendleton – Old Skool & Slip-On (2016)

OSGrey1

The All Nations Skate Jam returns for 2016, and following tradition, there are some Pendleton Vans that have been created for this year’s event in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 30th, 2016.  This year, we get two Old Skools, and two Slip-Ons.  One set shares a turquoise patterned Pendleton blanket, and the other has a grey/burgundy pattern.  The Old Skools feature either a grey suede, or burgundy suede, while the Slip-Ons are pretty much wrapped entirely in the blanket material, except for the heel panel.  These are very limited, but ANSJ has placed pairs up on eBay for pre-order, but don’t waste much time, as these usually go fast.

Words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans teams up with Leader Bikes for the second time across a number of reflective goods for Spring/Summer 2016. While T-shirts, caps and a backpack are included in the offerings, the most eye-catching products in the lineup include three sneakers: the Era, Old Skool and Slip-On.

Each sneaker features Ventile canvas construction for riding in all-weather conditions, alongside reflective material for night riding. Of course they’re fit for day use as well thanks to their simple monochromatic colorways.

Look for the collection to release on May 13 in all Brotures shops, Vans shops, and ABC Marts in Japan and Korea. Those of us in the U.S. will be limited to purchasing the collection only at Brotures Bike Shop in San Diego.”

The Shoe Surgeon x ROKIT – The Making of the Old Skool Force 1 (Video)

Words via Highsnobiety:

“To call The Shoe Surgeon a sneaker customizer is putting it lightly. This guy is well known for completely transforming silhouettes. Here we get a look at the master at work, as he takes a pair of Vans Old Skools, rips off the sole, and then applies an Air Force 1 sole unit. Various other details have also been altered to come up with The Shoe Surgeon’s new collaboration with ROKIT.”

Us vs. The Supreme Bots!

CryingDillsmall

This morning’s Supreme Vans launch was fun, huh?  In a matter of seconds, a full size run of shoes in every color turned into SOLD OUT.  The bots were alive and working, that’s for sure.  Some were lucky, and others weren’t.  We can wax nostalgia about how things used to be with Supreme Vans, but is this going to be the new norm?  Buying some 3rd party app in order to have a better chance at purchasing something for retail?  I would assume that this would be an easy thing to curtail, by perhaps some sort of captcha or human verification at final checkout, but perhaps it’s this hype and sense of limited availability that keeps people buying it up.  The real question is how long can they keep us on the hook, before we give up and let go of the bait?!
